Story
Sweet Sunny has had a bit of a rough start in life. After being adopted as a puppy, he was sadly returned two years later showing clear signs of mistreatment. But thanks to the loving care of his foster family, Sunny’s story took a beautiful turn. With patience, kindness, and LOTS of snuggles, they helped him rebuild trust—and wow, has he bloomed! Today, Sunny is thriving. He’s playful, affectionate, and ready to take on the world (or the hiking trail!) with his forever family. He loves nothing more than going on walks, riding in the car with his ears in the wind, and curling up with you after a day of fun. Whether you’re going on an adventure or having a lazy Sunday on the couch, Sunny’s your guy. He’s house-trained, great in the car, and has the heart of a loyal companion. While he’s not a fan of crates (understandable, given his past), he’s perfectly content snoozing nearby or at your feet. Sunny would thrive in a home where: - He’s treated with patience, love, and gentleness - He can be part of daily adventures—big or small - Snuggles are mandatory - He’s not expected to be crated Sunny has shown so much resilience and love—now he just needs someone to share it with. If you're looking for a fun, sweet, and loyal best friend, Sunny might be the perfect fit.

Story
Macie is a loving dog that would love more attention. unfortunately my household dynamics have changed and she went from a work at home parent to being by herself most of the day. We would love to see her go to a home where she has company throughout the day. She grew up with an older cocker spaniel but doesn't agree with other dogs simply because she wasn't exposed. She loves to play fetch and tug-o-war. She has had pet insurance her whole life so she's been seen regularly at Banfield for check ups and dental cleanings. We just want her to have a better life. Thank you for reading.

If you do not receive confirmation from us, email adoptions@hsnb.org . -----"Bella" Ella has very slowly become more confident in her foster home, but it's been a long journey as she was very seriously disinterested in adapting at first. It literally took almost two months of patience and allowing her to approach before she could actually seek affection and lap time. She came to the foster home during very warm weather and opted to spend the first few nights in the bushes of the backyard all night long because she was that scared of the new environment, despite doors being left wide open. She appeared to have a lot of trauma and very little trust of all humans. Even after a few months she does not come when called, unless she feels like it, and then it's at her behest and on her timeline. It's always on her terms and that might continue to be the case. She does love to play with other dogs, but she can be cranky and show them teeth if she is not in the mood, maybe growling a little. She has never attacked another dog, but generally she's fine sleeping next to them and burrowing like many dachshunds do. She appears to be mixed as her tail is not one of a doxie and her snout is slightly shorter. She usually has one ear up and one ear flopped over. It's all adorable, including her coloring. She tends to be very passive with humans and will look up at them with puppy dog eyes by bowing her head. It's cute, but definitely a sign of mistrust. She can slip past people very stealthily as she did nearly all the time at the beginning, especially since she's mostly black from above. She acts like there's a high risk of her being stepped on. However, no matter how much she hates being cornered, she NEVER snarls at a human or had any problem with being picked up. She probably really loves being picked up and held like a baby by humans. She has a gorgeous coat and she's super healthy. She eats in the presence of other dogs without any drama and she isn't picky about treats. Based on her anatomy it appears she has given birth to at least one litter. When she feels safe, she'll stick around for hours and cling to a human or lap many hours at a time, even the entire night. She gives some licks after she trusts a human and will do some play mouthing which is okay, but distraction with a toy would probably be a good idea long term. She does continue to love to go on adventures in the backyard, but she's no fool. She always comes back into warm areas and loves getting buried in blankets and warmth. She has never had an accident in the house. She is completely comfortable with the doggie door, which she learned to use from watching other dogs. I think any home where she is permanently placed would have to have incredible patience with her, giv Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: Tan Weight: 17.2 Age: 3yrs 1mths 2wks
