Story
Winnie is a very sweet wire-haired Dachshund who came to Family Dog Rescue with six tiny puppies in tow. She arrived skinny and malnourished, and we think that’s part of why she wasn’t too interested in her mom duties — but that’s okay, because her pups are thriving in loving foster homes and will be ready for adoption on December 2! Meanwhile, Winnie is getting all the TLC, good food, and pampering she deserves — and she’s blossoming into the affectionate, joyful little dog she was meant to be. She has the softest, most soulful eyes that seem to tell her whole story — gentle, grateful, and full of love. Winnie is incredibly affectionate and people-oriented, enjoys snuggles, and is great with other dogs. True to her Dachshund spirit, she’s curious, alert, and has a little chase instinct — especially when it comes to cats 🐈💨. Winnie will be ready for her forever home around December 2, and whoever adopts her will be getting a total sweetheart with a heart of gold and a scruffy face you can’t help but adore. ✨ Breed: Wire-Haired Dachshund 🩷 Age: Adult 🐾 Good with: Dogs and people (no cats) 📅 Available: Around December 2

Story
Greta is a darling 3-year-old Dachshund mix who came to Family Dog Rescue already expecting — and she’s been the best mama imaginable! Thanks to her loving foster family, Greta delivered seven beautiful puppies and raised them in a warm, nurturing home. Now that her pups are almost ready to fly the nest, Greta is looking for a forever family of her own. Her foster mom says, “She’s such a great dog. She loves my kids and has been around other very noisy kids and didn’t mind at all. She’s learned sit, stay, shake, and down — probably the smartest dog we’ve ever been around!” Greta is housetrained, gentle, affectionate, and gets along wonderfully with all dogs. She doesn’t bark when new people come over, and she’s been an easy houseguest. She’s still learning leash manners, so she’ll need a patient hand for her daily walks — but she’s eager to please and quick to learn. This sweet, soulful mama will be ready for adoption around November 23 — and she can’t wait to trade in her “puppy mom” duties for a lifetime of love, cuddles, and belly rubs. 💕 🐾 Age: ~3 years 🐾 Breed: Dachshund mix 🐾 Good with: Kids, dogs, people 🐾 Ready for adoption: Around November 23

Story
Sweet Sunny has had a bit of a rough start in life. After being adopted as a puppy, he was sadly returned two years later showing clear signs of mistreatment. But thanks to the loving care of his foster family, Sunny’s story took a beautiful turn. With patience, kindness, and LOTS of snuggles, they helped him rebuild trust—and wow, has he bloomed! Today, Sunny is thriving. He’s playful, affectionate, and ready to take on the world (or the hiking trail!) with his forever family. He loves nothing more than going on walks, riding in the car with his ears in the wind, and curling up with you after a day of fun. Whether you’re going on an adventure or having a lazy Sunday on the couch, Sunny’s your guy. He’s house-trained, great in the car, and has the heart of a loyal companion. While he’s not a fan of crates (understandable, given his past), he’s perfectly content snoozing nearby or at your feet. Sunny would thrive in a home where: - He’s treated with patience, love, and gentleness - He can be part of daily adventures—big or small - Snuggles are mandatory - He’s not expected to be crated Sunny has shown so much resilience and love—now he just needs someone to share it with. If you're looking for a fun, sweet, and loyal best friend, Sunny might be the perfect fit.
