Keeping this appointment is a condition of adoption and foster to adopt family must live within 1 hour of Georgetown to ensure she can be brought back for her scheduled appointment. Housebroken: Working on it. She has been progressing daily Crate trained: Yes Good in the car: Yes but can get car sick at times Good on a leash: Yes but she will freeze up if she feels uncomfortable at any point Energy level: Low Need a fenced in yard: No Dog Friendly: Dog indifferent. Did not mind being around another small, calm dog. She wouldn’t like being with large and/or rambunctious dogs If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? No, she definitely won’t mind being the only dog! Cat Friendly? Unknown Kid Friendly: Yes If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? Recommend 5+. Nysa can get frightened by loud noises or if there is too much going on. Kids should know when to give her space Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them? Nysa came to GRR from a puppy mill, having had her last litter just 8 weeks prior to her arrival. She spent most of her time in a barn, so everything is essentially brand new to her. Nysa has opened up a lot since being in foster, but it is very important to take things slow! It will take her some time to adjust. She occasionally has potty accidents in the house. Her ideal family shouldn’t be away from home too long so she can progress with potty training. Nysa will need someone who is patient and who will take the time to help build her confidence. This nervous little girl has so much love to give despite her beginning. She will make some lucky family very happy! Meet Houdini Looking for some magic in your life? Look no further than the amazing and captivating Houdini! This one year old male who knows what lowrider mix came all the way from Louisiana when the shelter no longer had space for him. Since his arrival, he's quickly become a favorite of everyone he meets with his happy go lucky, friendly, and outgoing personality. This little guy is always up for life's next great adventure. He's made friends with several other dogs and seems to match his play style well with whatever dog he's playing with so would do well in a home with other dogs. He's met a few children and seemed to understand they were smaller and easier to knock over and did very well with them! We have not seen him with cats specifically but he's seen several squirrels and rabbits while out and about and did not seem to care at all! So if you're looking for a handsome and goofy guy to enjoy life with, Houdini is the pup for you! Houdini has spent some time out of the shelter as part of our Doggy Day Out program and here's what the volunteer had to say: "I've walked Houdini a few times at the shelter and he's just been one of those ones you can't help but smile when you see him. He gets so excited his little wiggly body goes 100 miles an hour so I wanted to spend some extra time with him. He was great getting his harness on and had no trouble hopping right up into the truck with his little stocky legs right on the center console like he was the co-captain. We went for a trail walk and he was great on the leash and didn't care about any of the wildlife we saw along the way. After our hike, it was time for snacks and refreshments and he was Mr. Social at the meadery, saying hi to every human he could - even if he had to army crawl along to floor to get someone to finally say hi to him. He met a few children and was good about not jumping and was very gentle with them. While he did want to say hi and explore, he did settle down and spent a good amount of time cuddled-up to my side for pets. Houdini was one of the best dogs we've taken out of the shelter and hope he finds his family soon!" If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.
