Keeping this appointment is a condition of adoption and foster to adopt family must live within 1 hour of Georgetown to ensure she can be brought back for her scheduled appointment. Housebroken: Working on it. She has been progressing daily Crate trained: Yes Good in the car: Yes but can get car sick at times Good on a leash: Yes but she will freeze up if she feels uncomfortable at any point Energy level: Low Need a fenced in yard: No Dog Friendly: Dog indifferent. Did not mind being around another small, calm dog. She wouldn’t like being with large and/or rambunctious dogs If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? No, she definitely won’t mind being the only dog! Cat Friendly? Unknown Kid Friendly: Yes If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? Recommend 5+. Nysa can get frightened by loud noises or if there is too much going on. Kids should know when to give her space Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them? Nysa came to GRR from a puppy mill, having had her last litter just 8 weeks prior to her arrival. She spent most of her time in a barn, so everything is essentially brand new to her. Nysa has opened up a lot since being in foster, but it is very important to take things slow! It will take her some time to adjust. She occasionally has potty accidents in the house. Her ideal family shouldn’t be away from home too long so she can progress with potty training. Nysa will need someone who is patient and who will take the time to help build her confidence. This nervous little girl has so much love to give despite her beginning. She will make some lucky family very happy! This friend has just arrived to us on transport from a high-intake shelter partner! When our friends are new to us, we are often unsure of their full background. Our staff will spend some time getting to know them and update their bio with more information as we learn. They are pending interactions with animals until they have been cleared by our vet. Please note that we often are unsure of house, crate, car, and leash training status upon arrival. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.

We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit that rescues and places homeless, neglected or abused dogs from high-kill shelters in the south into loving, responsible committed and permanent homes. We feel our comprehensive adoption process which includes not only taking the time to match the dog to the prospective new owner but helping to educate that owner in responsible dog care, allows us to find the best homes for our little buddies and the best companions for you! Each week we use USDA certified transports to bring dogs from high-kill shelters in the south to our fosters where they all receive the appropriate medical care and are placed in nurturing loving homes while they await placement in their forever homes. Interested in one of our dogs? Great! Now that you've seen them here you'll need to go to our website where you'll find our list of adoptable dogs (updated every week). Then, it's just a simple process of finding a dog you're interested in and filling out an application on our site. Once we receive your application, whoever is fostering that particular dog will contact you and do a short over the phone interview to complete your application process. If everything works out, they will set an appointment with you so come out and "visit" with the dog you're interested in (we want to make sure that not only are you a good fit for the dog but that the dog will fit with you). If everything works out, you'll be able to take rover (or spot, or jax) home with you that very day. A couple of things you should know: We can't hold dogs over the phone or via email. Adoption fees vary based on breed. All of our dogs have been vet checked and dewormed (if possible due to age, additional treatment may be needed).
