Story
Decatur, IL leiashope.org Ombre is a sweet little Dachshund puppy born in November 2025 with all the charm and spunk the breed is known for. Like many Dachshunds, he has a big personality packed into a small body and isn’t afraid to show it! Ombre absolutely loves to play with his foster fur sister, and the two often turn the house and yard into their own little racetrack as they zoom around together. With his tiny legs working overtime, he does his very best to keep up with every turn and twist of their playful tornado. When playtime winds down, Ombre is just as happy being a cuddle bug. Dachshunds are famously loyal little companions, and Ombre is no exception—he loves being close to his person and soaking up every bit of attention he can get. One of his favorite parts of the day is story time with his foster sister, where he snuggles in close to make sure he doesn’t miss a single word of his bedtime story. Dachshunds are known for being affectionate, clever, and full of personality. They were originally bred to be brave little hunters, which means they are curious, playful, and love being part of the action in their home. Ombre embodies all of those wonderful traits and thrives when he has companionship and fun activities to keep him engaged. Ombre was recently treated for a UTI and, if needed, will go home with any remaining medication to complete his treatment. We are seeking a home for him that has a playmate—either children or a young playful dog—to help keep him busy, happy, and well socialized. His adoption fee is $550. Ombre is current on vaccines, microchipped, and on monthly flea and heartworm prevention. He has not been neutered as we do not encourage neutering before 6 months of age. Leia’s Hope will provide a credit to the adopter’s veterinarian to help with the cost of his neuter. Leia’s Hope is a volunteer-run, foster-based rescue. Applications can take 7–10 business days to process, so please be patient. We only perform meet and greets with an approved application. Meet and greets are done at our location and all family members, including dogs, must attend. We do not provide transportation or allow our dogs to ride cargo if flying. Puppies are a 15+ year commitment and adopters must be prepared to care for Ombre for his entire lifetime. Applications at leiashope.org Located in Decatur, IL.

Story
Meet Jane 🤍 applications at leiashope.org Jane is a 3-year-old Dachshund whose life changed overnight. She was released from her breeder after suffering a ruptured uterus that required an emergency spay. Once she could no longer produce profit, she was no longer “needed.” And that is the very best thing that could have happened to her. Because now Jane gets the chance to be someone’s priority. Someone’s cherished girl. Someone’s family. Jane is just beginning to understand what this new life means. She’s been reserved so far, quietly observing the world around her and taking it all in. Mill dogs don’t get to just “be dogs,” so everything is new — the sounds, the routines, the freedom to go outside just because she wants to. She does enjoy being outdoors and is starting to settle into the rhythm of home life. She has done well in a foster home with kids and a cat. Right now, she prefers to watch rather than jump in, but that’s okay. We know there’s a personality in there waiting to bloom, and we will update her bio as she grows more confident and her true self emerges. Jane will require: • A secure physical fenced yard (she is a flight risk) • A confident canine companion to show her how to “dog” • A patient family willing to move at her pace She does not know how to walk on a leash yet and will need continued guidance and safety precautions as she learns. Jane’s adoption fee is $400. She is spayed, microchipped, current on vaccines, and on monthly flea and heartworm prevention. Applications can be found at leiashope.org. We are a volunteer-run rescue, so please allow 7–10 business days for application processing. Please read our adoption requirements carefully before applying. Meet and greets are scheduled only with an approved application, and all family members (including resident dogs) must attend. Adopters must travel to Decatur, IL for the meet and greet and adoption — we do not provide transport. Dogs are a lifetime commitment. Jane deserves a home that will love her always and return her to Leia’s Hope if they can no longer keep her. She has never been someone’s priority before. Let’s change that.

VAILABLE BONDED PAIR. Meet the first of the pair, this super sweet male, Pal! Buddy and Pal were adopted from CARA a long time ago when they were two months old. They have lived an amazing life, spoiled and loved by their dad. But due to life's unexpected turns and sad times, their owner is now in long term care, and these two sweethearts are back with us 8 years later. We are determined to find them an amazing home where they can spend the rest of their lives together. They have never been apart, and we will not separate them. They are neutered, microchipped, updated on vaccinations, house trained, and walk great on a leash. They love to go on short walks and love to snuggle up with a cozy blanket for a movie. Buddy is 19 pounds and Pal is 17.6 pounds (and need to lose a few pounds 🤭). They are listed as Dachshunds and have had recent health checks and all the current vaccines at Eastlake as well as all the years of great healthcare before coming to us. Please help Buddy and Pal find their forever person. Please contact 217-799-8858 or 217-655-4353 and email citizensanimalrescue@gmail.com for an application. We are located at 609 East 5th Street Tilton, IL 61833. https://www.facebook.com/CaraRescue/posts/pfbid0v9TYyECG3AtXvHenzbDUnzB827ECYTQq7J6cBiwvmpssKkLNimjwHN4x7cNWfCZl
