Story
Hi, my name is Chica. I am roughly a one to two-year-old Dachshund Chihuahua mix. My foster mom says she's proud of me for a lot of reasons. For example, I like new people after I meet them for a few minutes, I am quiet - I hardly ever bark or whine except when my foster cats won't play with me. I only go potty outside and do well in my crate. I sit real still when I'm asked to and when I'm getting my leash on and off. I enjoy playing fetch and with all kinds of toys! Although I have a lot of good manners, I am still young and working to be the best girl I can be. There are a couple of things that make me nervous, big dogs I don't know and strangers outside, but I'm trying to be brave. I would love to find a family to play and cuddle with me. Adopters should be within an hour of Toledo, Ohio. *If you do not meet the requirements listed for this dog, we are not obligated to respond to your application. due to high volume, inquiries made on petfinder and adoptapet will not be answered. Please complete an application on our website https://toledospetbullproject.com/adoption/

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Romeo, oh such a suitable name for this goofy, loving dog. Romeo is a 9 year young Dachshund mix. He is great with other dogs and very sociable with humans. Very food motivated and he can hear the cheese wrapper from any distance. Romeo is looking for a permanent home, preferably one without stairs. The coordination in his rear legs is not perfect, but on flat ground he is as fast as the other dogs and he love to run and play wrestle. Romeo is not an early riser, he likes to sleep in on a soft bed close to the warm air vent.  Romeo is incontinent. Romeo has limited bladder control. He leaks urine when his bladder is full. He walks as he pees and is unaware of this, he could wear doggie diapers but he would need to be trained to keep them on. Romeo will not be able to become 100% housebroken due to his neurological problem.** If Romeo is let out often he keeps clean inside most of the time.** Romeo loves his human with ALL his heart . He has lots of needs but lots of love to give. This guy is definitely worth the work. If you think you're that special person who can help Romeo and give him a forever home fill out an application. Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to  Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The adopter's information is added once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a $19.99/Year registration fee or a $69.00/Lifetime registration fee to change information.  Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in any of our animals for adoption, or to foster an animal, please fill out the respective application here to get the process started. Visit our FAQ webpage for commonly asked questions about our adoption/foster process. Hi, I’m Tanbo… but my friends call me Snoop! I was adopted as a puppy and sadly found my way back to the rescue due to family circumstances. While that wasn’t the plan, I’m hoping my forever family is still out there waiting for me! I’m a very curious and inquisitive guy—I love to sniff around and investigate everything going on in my world. When I first came back to the rescue, stuffed toys were actually banned for me because I used to immediately shred them. The good news? I’ve improved! I can have them again now… although I’ll admit I still enjoy chewing on them and occasionally pulling some stuffing out. Old habits die hard. When it comes to playmates, I really enjoy dogs that are smaller than me—they’re my kind of crowd! Bigger dogs, though? I’d rather keep my distance. I also tend to chase cats, so a cat-free home would probably be best. I would also do best in a home without younger children, as I prefer a calmer environment where I can relax and feel comfortable. One of my favorite things in the world is treats and cuddling with my humans. If you have a blanket, just know it automatically becomes our blanket. In fact, if you see a lump under a blanket on the couch, you might want to check before sitting down… it could be me! Because I only have 21 teeth left, crunchy treats are a little tough for me to chew. Softer chews are my favorite! And since I’m missing a few teeth, my tongue hangs out about 95% of the time, which just adds to my charm. As a senior gentleman, I do have a couple medical conditions. I have Cushing’s disease and low B12, which means I’ll need medication for the rest of my life. I also take a little medicine for separation anxiety when my humans leave, but if you’re just gone for a few hours, I’ll handle it like a champ. What I’m really looking for is a cozy home, some soft treats, a warm blanket, and humans who love to cuddle as much as I do. If that sounds like you, I think we might be a perfect match.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by. May 19, 2026, 7:29 am

We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay online until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peaks your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application completely. Every question must be answered, and it must be signed.-Applicants must be 21+ years old and live within a 100-mile radius of our shelter at 22415 Groesbeck Hwy, Warren 48089.-You must identify at least 1 animal that you are interested in.-Once your application is received, it will be assigned to one of our volunteer Adoption Counselors who will follow-up with the applicant who is the best fit within a few days, or to discuss other options. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!). The introductions will take place outside in our parking lot (or in our cat room if you're meeting cats).-We will perform vet checks for current and prior pets in the household.-Finalizing the adoption will also be scheduled by appointment.Thank you for your understanding.

Story
Sassy is a 4-year-2-month-old Chihuahua/Dachshund mix weighing 11 pounds. Sassy has been surrendered twice. She is very nervous and fearful with people and situations she is unsure of. A lot of work will need to be done to earn her trust. Once she trusts you you'll see a happy, cuddly girl who likes to be by your side and give kisses. Sassy needs another dog in the home who is confident and can teach her to trust. She is great with other dogs, quick to tell them if they are to much for her. Sassy loves to go for walks, loves belly rubs (once you've earned her trust), loves her toys and chasing them. She's used to being on the furniture, because she'll be stuck to you like velcro! She's happy to be carried around like a queen (if not she is under your feet). Sassy does not like children (they are to loud and fast for her). If you've read this far we hope you have the heart and patience to be the right fit for Sassy. Multiple visits to the shelter will be required before she can leave so she can establish trust with her adopter. She is housebroken and crate trained. Fearful of load noises and car rides. Good watch dog.Her adoption fee is $150, this includes her spay, heartworm test, vaccines current, deworming, heartworm/flea prevention, and microchipped. Her dog license is also required to be purchased for Sandusky County residents at time of adoption, which is an additional $20.75. Please visit the shelter to meet her, we show dogs Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 1pm-4:30pm, and the 2nd and 4th Saturday 1pm-3:30pm. Once you have visited the shelter, you are then eligible to submit an adoption application for review. Please note, we do not offer same-day adoptions and there is a $10 non-refundable application fee.Come and meet your new best friend today! The Humane Society of Sandusky County is open Monday -Friday 1pm - 5pm and Saturdays from 1pm - 4pm. Also, be sure to check us out on FaceBook!
