Story
Meet Brennan! This 8-month-old, 23-pound dachshund/beagle arrived at GLDR with his brother Dale and he's eager to start his life with you! Brennan is a pup that appreciates life's simple pleasures. His absolute favorite thing is to have his ears rubbed! Give this little man a squeaky ball and he'll be your friend for life. Brennan's tail is always wagging and he's a very tolerant boy. He enjoys his tasty treats and takes them very gently. True to his breed, Brennan is curious about the world around him and loves to follow his nose when exploring. As he is a young man, he will benefit from daily exercise, continued training, and a yard to enjoy in his new home. He will need some time and encouragement to acclimate to his new surroundings. Based on our evaluation, we feel Brennan would do best in an active home with adults or families with kids of all ages. He may have the capacity to live in a home with other animals and we are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby. If you think Brennan could be the guy for you, head to greatlakesdogrescue.com today and submit your application for this lovable pup!

Story
Hi there! I’m Bandit, an 8-year-old Chi-weenie looking for a new partner-in-crime to help me start my next chapter. I've been neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. I'm up to date on my heartworm testing. My past? Glad you asked. I spent many wonderful years with my previous owner, but since they passed away, I’ve been waiting for a cozy couch to call my own again. My personality? I’ve got the classic low-rider body of a Dachshund and the big, "spicy" personality of a Chihuahua; while I’m a world-class snuggler who loves burrowing under blankets, I definitely have some opinions and will give you a little side-eye if you disturb my nap. I’m well past the stage of chewing up shoes and prefer a mellow life of sunbeams and short walks, but because I can be a bit sassy when I'm nervous, or when you don't pick me up correctly. I’d do best in a quiet, adult-only home where my boundaries are respected. I do enjoy time outside and enjoy walks. I need someone patient that understands I really miss my human I had for so long and I spend time looking at the door wondering if they are coming back. I'm sure with some time I'd learn to love you and understand you are my new home. I may be small, but I have the heart of a lion and a whole lot of loyalty to give to the right person. I might be named Bandit, but the only thing I’m really looking to steal is your heart—could you be the one to give me the second chance I've been waiting for? I'm available to meet at the shelter Tuesday-Saturday 10am-6pm. If you have questions reach out to my friend at AVASCares2@gmail.com or by phone at 989-348-4117. Can't wait to meet you!
