Story
Marley came into rescue as an owner surrender and made himself right at home with his foster parents, claiming a coveted spot on the couch that upset the apple cart a bit with the resident dogs. We don't believe Marley is full dachshund but have no idea with what he may be mixed. He is confident, friendly, gets along with other dogs and new people. He loves to be held and snuggled. He has not been cat or kid tested. Check back here or on our FB page as we find out more about Marley! WE ONLY ADOPT WITHIN A 2 HOUR RADIUS OF THE TRICOUNTY AREA. ***Exceptions may be made for seniors or hard to place dogs. If the animal is under the age of 3 years old or has health issues, a vet reference is required, which means you must own a pet or have owned a pet in your name. ADIOPTION FEE of $465 covers all vetting including spay/neuter surgery, vaccines, microchip, heartworm test and treatment if needed, and any other medical that may be required while in rescue. Please do not ask us to reduce adoption fees since all fees help us cover medical expenses for all of our animals, some of which can be very expensive. Saving lives is not cheap, so thank you for understanding and helping us save as many as possible. We only do adoptions on Saturday, and not all animals are able to attend. If you would like to see a specific animal, please let us know via email and we will try to accommodate. However, we cannot guarantee the animal will be at the event without an approved application. Event locations do vary so please check the homepage or our FB site to find out where we will be this week. Please email lowcountryanimalrescue@ymail.com for an application.

Story
Meet Sugar   This 3.5-year-old dachshund has perfected the art of being adorable without even trying—those soulful eyes and floppy ears do most of the work, honestly.   Sugar is a gentle girl who thrives in a calm, cozy environment. She’s not the chaos-and-commotion type—think more “snuggled up next to you during a quiet evening” than “center of a toddler dance party.” Because of that, she’s looking for a home with no kids. She can be particular about who she wants to have love on her at times and doesn't always like to be picked up. But s he bonds deeply with her people and will happily be your loyal sidekick, whether you’re binge-watching TV, reading a book, or just hanging out. Sugar isn’t high-maintenance—she’s just selective about her vibe, and her ideal home is one that matches her easygoing, mellow energy.   If you’ve got a soft spot for a sweet, sensitive pup who just wants love, stability, and a comfy spot on the couch… Sugar might be your perfect match.   Warning: side effects of adopting Sugar may include excessive smiling, constant companionship, and a permanent lap accessory. Her adoption fee is $400 and she is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, on heartworm and flea prevention, heartworm negative and has had a negative fecal. Please fill out this link with the application to be approved for adoption. We do have to have an approved application prior to setting up meets. If she is still up on the website, she is still available.  https://libbyandmacesplace.org/get-involved/adopt-a-furry-forever-friend/  June 16, 2026, 12:53 pm

Story
Howdy to Zeus! He is a 13 year old male chiweenie. Very scared but is wanting to be loved. No kids as he can be a bit snarky. Okay with other dogs. Would do best with a dog-savvy, or at least a chihuahua-savvy adopter with the patience to build his trust and confidence. WE ONLY ADOPT LOCALLY WITHIN A 2 HOUR RADIUS OF THE TRICOUNTY AREA. ***Exceptions may be made for seniors or hard to place dogs. Story
Sweet Dawn came to rescue after a rural county shelter got her from a hoarding situation. Dawn came to us with some open wounds, possibly from being confined in a crate or dragging herself along the ground. She is currently rear-leg paralyzed and will undergo a thorough vet visit as we try to figure out why. Meanwhile, her foster mom is doing some physical therapy with her and getting her outside to play in the fresh air and soft grass as much as possible. Dawn is understandably a bit shy, but we are confident she will adjust quickly to her new active foster family, complete with children, dogs and cats. Est. DOB: Jan. 2019-2020 Stay tuned here and to our Facebook site for updates as we find out more about her. Pre-adoption applications are being accepted now. WE ONLY ADOPT LOCALLY WITHIN A 2 HOUR RADIUS OF THE TRICOUNTY AREA. ***Exceptions may be made for seniors or hard to place dogs.
