Story
Meet Tuukka – Senior Dachshund, Professional Commentator!   Tuukka is an 11–12-year-old dachshund with a long body, a big heart, and lots to say about the world around him. If you’ve ever wanted a dog who will happily share his opinions on meal times, walk schedules, and whether the mail carrier can be trusted—Tuukka is your guy.   He’s wonderfully dog, cat, and kid friendly, making him an easy fit for a busy household or a calm one. Tuukka loves being part of the family and thrives when he’s included in daily life, whether that means cozy couch time or supervising the neighborhood from the window.   While he may be a senior, Tuukka still has plenty of personality and charm packed into his little dachshund frame. His vocal nature just means he’s expressive, engaged, and always ready for a conversation (or a snack). Beneath the commentary is a sweet, affectionate companion who truly loves his people.   If you’re looking for a loyal sidekick with a sense of humor, a loving heart, and a running narration of your day, Tuukka is ready to move in and make himself at home.   Adopt Tuukka—because life is better with a dog who speaks his mind!   He is neutered, microchipped, up to date vaccines and heartworm prevention as well as had a dental cleaning with many needed extractions as of December 10th. His adoption fee is $300. Please use this link for the application to be approved for adoption: https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=SGVJMGQYMay 14, 2026, 3:03 pm

Story
Marley came into rescue as an owner surrender and made himself right at home with his foster parents, claiming a coveted spot on the couch that upset the apple cart a bit with the resident dogs. We don't believe Marley is full dachshund but have no idea with what he may be mixed. He is confident, friendly, gets along with other dogs and new people. He loves to be held and snuggled. He has not been cat or kid tested. Check back here or on our FB page as we find out more about Marley! WE ONLY ADOPT WITHIN A 2 HOUR RADIUS OF THE TRICOUNTY AREA. ***Exceptions may be made for seniors or hard to place dogs. If the animal is under the age of 3 years old or has health issues, a vet reference is required, which means you must own a pet or have owned a pet in your name. ADIOPTION FEE of $465 covers all vetting including spay/neuter surgery, vaccines, microchip, heartworm test and treatment if needed, and any other medical that may be required while in rescue. Please do not ask us to reduce adoption fees since all fees help us cover medical expenses for all of our animals, some of which can be very expensive. Saving lives is not cheap, so thank you for understanding and helping us save as many as possible. We only do adoptions on Saturday, and not all animals are able to attend. If you would like to see a specific animal, please let us know via email and we will try to accommodate. However, we cannot guarantee the animal will be at the event without an approved application. Event locations do vary so please check the homepage or our FB site to find out where we will be this week. Please email lowcountryanimalrescue@ymail.com for an application.

Story
I love this dog so much. She was used to breed and I got her at 3. She unfortunately does not like men. She has nipped my husband now several times and really does not like our senior German shepherd. We have a toddler son and it is just becoming clear that managing these behavioral issues is not something worth the risk to our family or her. She is very anxious and we do medicate her anxiety. Katie has been trained with positive training and is e-collar trained. She knows many commands and is honestly an amazing little potato, snuggle bug. She loves stinky things, treats and sleep. I can’t write all the wonderful things and quarks about her or it will make me cry and ruin my resolve to find her a better home than the one I can provide. She’s a lazy girl who’s afraid of men and would THRIVE in a home with a mama all to herself. She may take a moment to warm but this girl deserves to be in a home where everyone loves her and can provide the structure and the quiet she needs.

She will bond with her new family but will need help with people she doesn’t know coming into her home. Have you always wanted an English Cream LH well here she is but you have to work at it. Sadly, due to poor dental care she lost 18 teeth including her top canines. But once healed she’ll be able to eat hard kibble. Eve would benefit from having another adult, small, well socialized dog in the home to help her adjust. She is a beautiful and smart little girl! Our must haves for her are: • A fenced in yard • Another small adult dog well socialized • Someone that can be home more than not • No apartment, high rises or condos, dachshund like to bark If we you can give Eve that home she deserves than please apply to adopt. ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten. If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal. We cannot adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures. To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3. Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form. Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.
