Story
UPDATE: Sweeney's foster dad says he is starting to settle in. (It can take up to 3 months for some dogs.) Sweeney is affectionate and loves to sit in your lap, but also likes his independence. He is getting to the know the other dogs in the house, but hasn't played with them much yet and hasn't shown much interest in the cat either. He is mostly potty trained and likes toys. He will give kisses "without overdoing it". He has really come out of his shell and will happily roll over for belly rubs for anyone willing to give them! ----------------------------------------- Sweet, scared Sweeney was pulled into rescue after being taken to a rural shelter from a problematic situation where he did not get the type of attention he deserves. His transporter said he "made" her pet him during the entire 90 minute ride to Summerville. He will be fully vetted and is settling in to a loving, veteran foster home. Check in to this site and our FB page for updates as we find out more about Sweeney and get him ready for adoption. Pre-adoption applications will be accepted. EST. DOB: Jan. 2018 WE ONLY ADOPT LOCALLY WITHIN A 2 HOUR RADIUS OF THE TRICOUNTY AREA. ***Exceptions may be made for seniors or hard to place dogs. If the animal is under the age of 3 years old or has health issues, a vet reference is required which means you must own a pet or have owned a pet in your name. Adoption fee of $410 covers all vetting including spay/neuter surgery, vaccines, microchip heartworm test and treatment if needed and any other medical that may be required while in rescue. We only do adoptions on Saturday and not all animals are able to attend so if you would like to see a specific animal please let us know so that we can make arrangements for it to be present at the event. Event locations do vary so please check the homepage to find out where we will be this week. Please do not ask us to reduce adoption fees since all fees help us to cover medical expenses for all of our animals, some of which can be very expensive. Saving lives is not cheap so thank you for your understanding and helping us save as many as possible. Please email lowcountryanimalrescue@ymail.com for an application.

Story
Maggie is an adorable 11-year-old Dachshund/Wirehaired Terrier mix who came to us with her pals Charlie and Max when their guardian entered hospice. Max has found his home, and now Maggie and Charlie are looking for one together. Maggie is a gentle, sweet girl who gets along well with other dogs, but she’s no pushover—she’s got just the right mix of kindness and spunk. Closely bonded with Charlie, she’s hoping for a loving home where they can stay side by side in this next chapter of life.

Story
Meet Tuukka and Rocky!  Tuuka and his friend Rocky came to us when their owner passed away recently. They are both very sweet boys and love dogs and kids. Tuuka likes to bark at his kitty friends. Tuuka is about 11 or 12 years old and Rocky is about 8-9 years old. They are both very easy going boys. They are mostly housetrained and love to snooze all day on the dog bed. They are both neutered, microchipped, up to date vaccines and heartworm prevention. Their adoption fee is $500 and will also include Tuukas dental with our vet.
