HALLIE: WORK IN PROGRESS — PLEASE DON'T EXPECT PERFECTION ON DAY ONE Hallie is back with us. Her foster mom fell completely in love with her. Hallie, unfortunately, did not feel quite the same way about Foster Dad. "It's not you. It's me." — Hallie, probably. So we're learning more about what this little girl needs, and we think Hallie may be happiest in a female household with someone patient enough to let her decide when she's ready to trust. Hallie is a 2-year-old, small Dachshund mix who came from the Union County hoarding case where 92 dogs were living together in a single-wide trailer. Think about that for a minute. Hallie didn't grow up learning that people were safe, leashes meant fun walks, visitors brought treats and couches were made for snuggling. She learned how to live among 91 other dogs. Now we're asking her to learn an entirely different world. And she's trying. Hallie's current résumé: Once she trusts you, she is an incredibly sweet girl. She keeps her kennel clean. She seems to be more comfortable with women. She's still very cautious around people in general. Leash walking? Let's call that an upcoming course requirement. She's carrying a few extra ounces of prosperity and could stand to lose a little weight. Hallie strongly disagrees with this assessment. Socialization and confidence building are very much IN PROGRESS. What Hallie needs most isn't someone who feels sorry for her. She needs someone who understands her. Someone who won't corner her or force affection. Someone who won't be disappointed if she doesn't climb into their lap the first night. Someone who will celebrate the tiny victories: The first time she approaches on her own. The first tail wag. The first time she chooses to sit beside you. The first time she realizes... "I'm safe here." Hallie isn't a turnkey dog. She's more of a fixer-upper with excellent bones and tremendous potential. But we've seen what happens when these hoarding dogs finally learn to trust. The scared little dog begins to disappear, and underneath you find the sweet, funny companion who was there all along. Hallie is still becoming that dog. She just needs someone willing to help her finish the journey. 92 dogs shared one single-wide trailer. Now we're hoping to find Hallie one patient woman, one quiet home and all the time she needs to finally understand what it means to belong.

Story
A hot off the presses foster mom report. “Newly “Long” legged Lily is a sweet and very playful little gal. She loves playing with her foster siblings for hours on end. She is independent, likes to explore that yard looking for things to chew on (that her Foster Mom has to take away from her). She comes when called, is learning her crate and sleeps quietly through the night. She is anxious to go out in the morning and is very vocal when she hears the humans starting to stir. She loves her stuffy toys and yak cheese chews. She's even beginning to fetch and retun a stuffy toy if one is tossed for her to chase. Not a very big eater, as she often leaves her food to go play. She is definitely a little wiggle worm and settles once tired but would choose running with the other dogs over snuggling in a lap. Super fun loving sweetheart, easy going, playful, and curious.” Linda FM KNOXVILLE TN A Bitsa, can you guess her bits?

Story
TRICK’S DATING PROFILE Seekin Trick — Seeking One Woman, No Roommates: One Woman. No Roommates. No Nonsense. Meet Trick, a 3-year-old, 12–15 lb Dachshund mix with gorgeous brindle coloring, short legs, a big brain and approximately 47 pounds of personality packed into a 12-pound body. Trick came from the infamous Union County hoarding case where 92 dogs were living in a single-wide trailer. Yes. NINETY-TWO. Trick was one of the older dogs, so we have a sneaking suspicion she may have been the matriarch of the trailer. And frankly? It shows. She has opinions. She knows what she wants. She knows what she DOESN’T want. And after living with 91 roommates, she would like to formally announce that she is DONE WITH COMMUNAL LIVING. Trick is looking for an ONLY-DOG HOME, preferably with a woman who is retired, works from home or is simply a homebody looking for a tiny brindle sidekick. Her résumé: Loving and extremely devoted to her chosen person. Smart and knows basic commands. Clean in her kennel when kept on a good schedule. Has a 401(k), but it's food. Trick still hides food for later. After competing with 91 other dogs, she apparently believes strongly in maintaining an emergency snack fund. Part Dachshund. Part Houdini. This girl is an escape artist. Secure doors, gates and fencing are a MUST. If there's a loophole, Trick has probably already retained counsel and found it. Selective about people. Trick does not believe every stranger deserves immediate access to Trick. Introductions should be slow and respectful. Can be jealous. If you're her person, you're HER person. She did not survive the Trailer of 92 to spend her golden years watching you cuddle some other dog. Occasionally spicy. We could call her “temperamental,” but Trick prefers a woman who knows her own mind. Trick is NOT looking for a bustling household, a revolving door of visitors, a dog park social calendar or six canine siblings. Been there. Done that. Times 91. Her dream life is much simpler: Quiet home One special woman Plenty of together time Reliable snacks A good routine Security worthy of Fort Knox ZERO canine roommates She's funny, complicated, loving, bossy, smart, loyal and just a little bit ridiculous. In other words, Trick isn't going to be everybody's cup of tea. But somewhere out there is a woman reading this thinking: "Actually... she sounds perfect." THAT'S WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR. After sharing a single-wide trailer with 91 dogs, Trick isn't asking for the world. She's just asking to finally have one all to herself.

Helga is absolutely a sweetheart. She is going to make someone a lucky person. She is very active but yet loves to cuddle and loves attention and pets. She is housebroken and she will let you know when she needs to go out. She does have accidents in the house occasionally. She is a spunky little girl and has been a fantastic momma to her little baby. She is a little escape artist. She knows how to climb out of this pen so I finished them backyard would be preferable.

She is a bit of a picky eater but may have been fed table food and the reason why she’s not crazy about dog food. Roxie is great with other dogs male and female but we do not know about cats so best no to try to adopt her if you have a cat. She has been used to her previous owner being home all the time so she may have to adjust if you work out of the home. That would help having another small young dog for her to hang with. Our must haves for her are: A fenced in yard Another young small dog Someone that can be home more than not No apartments, high rises or condos If you think she would be a good fit for your home and you meet our other requirements to then please apply to adopt. She truly is a sweet girls but you have to be willing to help her lose the weight she needs to lose to be at her best weight. ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten. If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal. We cannot adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures. To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3. Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form. Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.
