Story
Meet Vida Boheme! Just like her namesake, this queen brings beauty, charm, warmth, and pure love everywhere she goes. Vida is a nearly 16-year-old, 20-lb Dachshund mix with a gentle spirit, a snowy white face, and a devotion to her people that would make Miss Vida herself proud. This Vida’s ideal day includes naps, snacks, couch cuddles, and following her humans from room to room like the loyal little shadow she is. She’s fully house trained, walks politely on leash, and has low energy, grooming, and exercise needs. She doesn’t love the crate, but she’ll settle if she must—though she’d much rather be tucked in beside you for bedtime snuggles. She gets along ok with dogs and cats, but she has a little bit of resource guarding tendencies and may lunge, snap and bark at another dog when they get too close to her treats or her space if she isn't feeling cuddly. Because she whines or barks for a bit when left alone or separated, she’ll do best in a home without shared walls. What she wants most is what her namesake taught us all to give: love, kindness, and a place where she can simply belong.Vida is is in the low level range of Cushing’s Disease. She has started medication for it and her adopter will need to monitor symptoms and stay on top of vet care. Her medication costs about $45–55 monthly. She also has a sensitive digestive system and needs to be on specialty food, and needs to go to the bathroom fairly often.Vida’s most special trait is the way she looks at her people—with the same softness, loyalty, and heart that made Vida Boheme unforgettable on screen. She’s a tender, affectionate soul who just wants to love and be loved. She also loves giving kisses If you’re ready to welcome a gentle, devoted senior queen into your home, Vida Boheme is waiting to grace your life with sweetness and style. Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Her adoption fee is $100. Story
Meet Marisol Female DOB: March 29, 2026 Weight: 12 lbs (current — still growing) medium sized Expected Size: Small to Medium when fully grown Breed: Terrier Mix Spayed (Fixed): Pending (age-appropriate) Vaccines: Pending (age-appropriate) Microchipped Healthy & Adoption-Ready Personality, Breed Info & Expectations Marisol is a sweet and affectionate little puppy with a playful personality and loving spirit. At this young age, she is still discovering the world around her and enjoys cuddles, companionship, toys, playtime, and exploring new experiences with curiosity and excitement. She has a happy puppy energy while also loving closeness and affection from her people. Marisol is still very young and growing, making this an especially important stage for confidence-building, socialization, structure, and positive experiences that will help shape her into a happy and well-balanced adult dog. As a growing Terrier mix puppy, Marisol will likely mature into an intelligent, engaging companion with lots of personality and strong bonds with her family. Terrier mixes are often known for being affectionate, clever, energetic dogs who thrive with interaction, companionship, and enrichment. Marisol is expected to stay in the small-to-medium size range as an adult. Marisol would thrive in a home prepared for: Ongoing puppy training and supervision Daily exercise, playtime, and enrichment Structure, consistency, and routine Positive socialization and engagement A lifelong commitment to her emotional and physical well-being Puppies are adorable, but they are also a major responsibility requiring patience, supervision, training, and long-term commitment throughout every stage of life. Training, Adjustment & What to Expect Many rescue puppies come from uncertain beginnings and may not have had structure, socialization, or training before arriving at rescue. Even very young puppies require significant guidance and supervision to properly learn how to navigate life in a home environment. Puppies are not automatically trained simply because they are young. The rescue environment itself also does not always allow for extensive one-on-one training. While we work hard to provide safety, basic structure, and socialization, adopters should expect to continue all training and development after adoption. Adopting a puppy means being prepared for: Potty training and accidents Teething and chewing phases Crate training and leash training Nighttime wakeups and supervision Jumping, barking, and playful puppy behavior Ongoing socialization and confidence-building Daily exercise, enrichment, and structure Routine veterinary visits and vaccine boosters Financial commitment throughout the dog’s lifetime Because Marisol is still very young and small, extra care should also be taken around: Larger animals Rough play Stairs and jumping Unsafe chewing hazards Open doors or unsecured outdoor spaces Marisol will benefit from: Positive reinforcement training Daily structure and routine Continued socialization and exposure Mental stimulation and enrichment Patience, consistency, and supervision Please remember the 3-3-3 Rule: 3 days to decompress 3 weeks to learn your routine 3 months to fully feel at home With patience, guidance, and commitment, puppies like Marisol grow into wonderful lifelong companions. Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care Owning a puppy is a lifelong commitment that includes training, exercise, routine veterinary care, financial responsibility, and emotional commitment throughout every stage of life. Marisol will need: Ongoing puppy training and guidance Routine veterinary visits and vaccine boosters Preventative care including flea, tick, and heartworm prevention Proper nutrition and growth monitoring Daily exercise, enrichment, and companionship A safe, stable, indoor living environment Puppies require regular veterinary care throughout their first year, including booster vaccines, wellness exams, and spay surgery when age-appropriate. Because Marisol is still very young, adopters should also be prepared for the normal puppy phases that come with growing and learning, including chewing, teething, accidents, testing boundaries, and continued social development. Marisol is an indoor family dog and is not to be chained or left outside.
