Story
Puppies! They are so cute! But, are you ready?Along with the fun and excitement they bring, getting a puppy is a big responsibility. They can be a 10-to-15+ year commitment. They need to be trained to fit into your family including leash walking, housebreaking, basic commands and expectations. Training does not happen quickly. It takes time and consistency. They require initial and yearly vet exams and vaccinations. Socializing your puppy is also very important, as it can help them become comfortable around new animals, people, and environments. We ask that you take into consideration all of these things before deciding to adopt a puppy. Consider the following:Are you able to consistently train your puppy? Will everyone in your household work together to take care of the puppy? Are you prepared for your puppy to grow into a bigger dog?Are you willing to clean up the messes that your puppy will make? Are you ready for vet bills to keep up with their vaccinations and care? How are you going to socialize your puppy? Are other animals in your household able to tolerate a new puppy? If you’re ready to take on the responsibility and experience the JOY of bringing home a new puppy, come out to the shelter and meet your new best friend!

Story
Meet Frank! This little guy is a 4-year-old low-riding explorer with a big personality. Frank is a charming Dachshund who’s all about the simple joys in life: soaking up attention, going for leisurely walks, and sniffing out every interesting thing the world has to offer. He’s an easy companion on leash and loves taking his time to explore, making him a great buddy for relaxed strolls. Like many small dogs, Frank has a bit of that classic “ankle biter” confidence, so he’d do best in a home with older kids who understand and respect his space. He would also get along best with calmer dogs who match his laid-back vibe. Although he has only ever been very loved, Frank has spent most of his life outdoors, so he’s still working on house training and will need a patient, committed adopter to help him learn the ropes of indoor living. The good news? He’s a pretty low-energy guy overall, with just a touch of medium energy when he’s out and about, so he’s not overly demanding. If you’re looking for a loyal little companion who enjoys attention, quiet adventures, and discovering the world at his own pace, Frank might just be your perfect match.

Story
Slinky would rather skip the small talk and go straight to showering you with his love. This boy doesn’t know personal space so be prepared to receive kisses you never asked for. He wants to explore his surroundings and doesn’t see shy about making himself right at home. His little tail gets to wagging as soon as you make eye contact with him. He is going to make someone very happy and complete. So far, slinky has done well with other dogs. He hasn’t been tested with cats, but given his gentle nature, and with proper introduction, he should be fine. Slinky came from a not so ideal housing situation. He arrived with overgrown nails and flea infested. His new family should know that he may not be housebroken if he was not properly cared for in his previous home. If you would like to adopt Slinky, please submit an application https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/66b189c45d6f9afa2c07afb8/69d15ee93337660dd00cbf5a

Story
Old man Fuzz is just about as gentle, quiet, and mellow as they come. We were told he is 4 years old but suspect he is closer to 6-7 years old. He could care less about other dogs or cats; he goes straight for his human. He loves to rest his head on your lap and just be in your presence. He was given up by his previous owner along with 4 other dogs. Fuzz was so infested with fleas that his first bath was nothing but bloody water :(. Despite him being eaten alive for quite some time, he has remained friendly and cooperative with us handling him. He is truly the textbook old dog that everyone loves to have by their side on a lazy day. Fuzz seems to be housebroken but has a habit of holding his pee until he can't anymore (even if we let him outside). He is familiar with pee pads as well. We do think the sudden change from family to rescue may have messed up his routine. We are confident once he learns his new family and home, he will be back on track to being a well-mannered boy!

Story
Pretzel is going to need a special family. He is taking being uprooted from his previous life, very hard. He will take treats out of your hand (that’s huge progress), but gets scared when you reach for him too quickly. He is very sweet and trying his best to be brave. He needs a patient, understanding home that will help him through his trauma. He does well with other dogs, but has not been tested with kids or cats. Because he is so timid, we strongly believe he will just ignore cats. Pretzel is about 15 pounds. His primary breed is dachshund, but he is definitely mixed with a little something else. He has so much potential. Remember, when you help an animal through trauma, you build an unbreakable bond and trust. It’s a very rewarding process to watch them bloom into a wonderful, confident companion! Please give Pretzel a chance ❤️ To apply for Pretzel, please submit an application https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/66b189c45d6f9afa2c07afb8/69d15e0f19c8f2cb7005c950

Story
Meet Daisy Daisy is a 9-year-old dachshund looking for a calm, loving home to spend her golden years. She is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccines—ready to settle in with her perfect person. This sweet senior has a personality that's a lot like a cat: affectionate, but on her own terms. She enjoys companionship and cozy time, especially if it involves relaxing and “Netflix and chill,” but she also values her independence. Daisy would do best in a quiet home with: • No cats • No children • Minimal foot traffic She can be selective with other dogs, so any introductions should be done carefully to ensure everyone gets along. The good news? She's a dream in so many ways—she loves car rides, walks nicely on a leash, and knows her basic commands. She's low-key, loyal, and just wants a peaceful environment where she can bond with her person. If you're looking for a calm companion who will happily share quiet evenings and cozy moments, Daisy might be your perfect match Interested in adopting?
