Story
Meet Winnie, a spirited 2-to-3-year-old Dachshund mix who is ready to bring a mountain of personality into her forever home. Winnie is truly a "mountain goat" in a small package. She is incredibly energetic and agile. When she isn’t keeping the small wildlife out of the backyard or patrolling the neighborhood, she is a dreaming of how to get the baked goods off the counter. At night, she burrows deep under the covers to find the warmest spot in your bed. While Winnie is a sweet soul, she is looking for a home where she can be the only dog. She can be reactive with other dogs while playing with toys or if she finds food on the floor. Due to this behavior, she requires a home without young children. Winnie is perfectly fine sharing her space with feline friends. Winnie’s Ideal Home: 🐾Prefered to be the only dog (cats are ok) 🐾Adult home: A quiet home without young children 🐾Active Lifestyle: Someone who loves long walks and high-energy play. Winnie loves food puzzles and dispensing toys. Winnie is a great dog, she just has a couple special needs to thrive in her future home. ☑️ up to date on vaccines ☑️ spayed ☑️ microchipped ☑️ heartworm negative Winnie is being fostered in Madison, AL. We are looking for local adopters only. If you would like to learn more about Winnie, please fill out an adoption application at forrescue.net

Story
Located in Tennessee but can be transported to you through Rescue Riders. This girl was brought in with babies when her owner couldn't take care of her. She was not socialized very well so will need some work. She will need a very patient person to get her to come out of her shell. She was kept outside so she has no house manners, nor has she been with cats. She does do well with dogs her size and seems to like to play with them. She deserves a new chance to be a loved dog and companion. She will take a lot of time and investment but deserves a chance!

Story
Meet Tails! This gorgeous little guy was sadly abandoned in an apartment complex when his family moved and couldn’t—or wouldn’t—take him with them. Thankfully, caring neighbors stepped in and reached out to his current foster mom, Debbie, for help. Debbie didn’t hesitate to foster him, and of course, we said yes to bringing Tails into rescue. Tails is now thriving in his foster home and has integrated beautifully into his foster pack. He did an excellent job transitioning and has proven to be great with both dogs and cats. He does well with dogs of all sizes and is curious about the cats but means them no harm. While Tails is naturally drawn to his humans for comfort and security, he also enjoys following the lead of his canine pack. Tails is a very chill boy with a moderate energy level. He is both house-trained and crate-trained, and currently enjoys two walks a day—especially stopping to sniff and explore. He may be curious about other dogs on leash, but he is not reactive. When he’s not out for a walk, Tails is happiest relaxing on the couch with his person. He looks to his human for emotional reassurance, and his favorite spot is curled up in Debbie’s lap. Tails can be shy at first and is wary of strangers, especially loud people or sudden movements. He’ll do best in a calm, consistent home and would benefit from continued gentle exposure to visitors. He previously lived with older children (10+), which would be a good fit again. Tails is not aggressive at all—he’s simply a sensitive soul who prefers a peaceful environment and very much considers himself a lap dog. His ideal day? A good meal, a nice walk, and lots of cuddles with his person. Tails is ready for a forever home where he can feel safe, loved, and cherished. If you’re looking for a loyal, gentle companion who will happily curl up in your lap and steal your heart, Tails may be your perfect match. Apply today! Story
Meet Scooter. This charming little guy was found running as a stray in Rock Hill, SC, and ended up in the county shelter. One of our volunteers spotted him there and offered to bring him into the rescue, so now Scooter is officially a Worthy Dog. Scooter is currently being fostered by Cindy and Paul, along with their two dogs and their grandkids, who visit often. He’s been wonderful with everyone. He loves playing with the other dogs and especially enjoys his time with their grandkids and their Frenchie, Buster, who’s a young, rough-and-tumble playmate just his style. Scooter is a very friendly pup who enjoys meeting new people and welcomes attention from anyone willing to offer it. He’s affectionate with his family and loves to snuggle on the couch, happily rolling over for belly rubs whenever the mood strikes. He’s been great with housetraining and has shown no destructive tendencies when left alone. Cindy describes Scooter: “He’s confident, social, and very smart. He’s already learned several commands and picked up on our routine quickly. I trust him with free roam in our home, and he’s never been destructive. I think he would be happiest in a home with another dog. He’s playful and really seems to enjoy having company. He quickly learned how to use the doggie door and will even trot over to visit my parents, who live on our property. He’s medium-energy and very calm in the house. I do think he would do best with a yard. He has bursts of energy and will run around outside doing zoomies to get it out. He enjoys playdates; he likes to play, then nap, then play a little more. He would absolutely love another dog to play with, unless his adopter is willing to get outside and throw the ball, play with him regularly, and take him on good walks. I walk him once a day, and his leash skills are still a work in progress. He walks nicely with our daughter’s dog and has made a few new friends at our favorite park, but he can also be barky on leash and has a prey drive for squirrels, and even deer at times. At just 13 lbs, he doesn’t realize his size! He’ll whine and pull to chase, so secure gear and continued leash-manners training will be important.” This friendly social boy will make an excellent companion and family dog. He enjoys being part of a pack and would do best with a playmate.  Apply today!   BREED ESTIMATE: Dachshund Mix GENDER: Male APPROXIMATE WEIGHT:  13 lbs  APPROXIMATE AGE: ~ 2 years old COAT TYPE: Short coat ADOPTION FEE: $425 OTHER INFO: utd on shots/neutered/microchipped LOCATION: Upperco, MD   FOR MORE INFO OR TO ADOPT: Please go to https://adopt.worthydog.org and complete the application.
