IF YOU ARE VIEWING THIS LISTING ON PETFINDER OR ADOPT-A-PET, please visit: Caninesandkittiesrescue.org to access adoption requirements, more information and pictures. Meet Cheeto -- Cheeto is about 4.5 months old and weighs about 12 lbs. The shelter said Cheeto is a Lab/Doxie mix, but that is just a guess:) Cheeto is a happy boy who loves to play and explore. Cheeto loves playing with the other puppy in his foster home. Once Cheeto has had his playtime he too enjoys a good cuddle with his foster mom or dad. Cheeto is doing great on his house and crate training. Since Cheeto is a puppy, he will need an adopter who is at home a good portion of the day each day to continue training - No exceptions! Cheeto is up to date on his vaccines, he is microchipped and he is neutered. The adoption fee for this dog is $400, which helps with the cost of routine vet care. This fee DOES NOT INCLUDE spay/neuter if the pup is not already spayed/neutered. If the animal you are adopting is not already spayed/neutered, you will be required to sign a contract legally obligating you to have the animal altered. A $100.00 fee will be returned to the adopter once the animal has been sterilized. We will provide information on this process during the approval process. ***You must be at least 25 years of age to adopt from CKRescue*** ***Note that puppy adoption fees most often help generate revenue that goes towards older, special needs animals that need our help. Surgeries, heartworm treatment, boarding costs and/or all things that often result in adoptable dogs and cats being left behind to be euthanized. So, adopting a puppy saves not just one life, but many! ***Please note that our first step in approving adoption applicants is to complete a vet check. Vetting of current and past pets is very important to us, thus we will be speaking with the vet(s) listed on your application to ensure that your current and previous pet(s) are kept up to date on vaccines (including rabies), spayed or neutered, maintained on appropriate monthly preventatives and examined annually by your vet.*** Our organization cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care. The breed listed is based on any background we may have been provided, and/or the general appearance of the animal. **Please visit www.caninesandkittiesrescue.org to complete our non-binding application.**

Arlos is a shy and timid boy who will need time to warm up to new people. Arlo will require another young and confident dog in his forever home. Arlo enjoys running around the backyard chasing a tennis ball or just laying in the sun. Arlo will need an adopter who can work with him on building his confidence. Arlo is not in a foster home with children, but we feel he would do ok with dog savvy children who are 8 years and up. This boy is named Bratwurst. A one-year-old Dachshund mix in a short black and tan coat, he's only about 15 pounds. Because of his size, if you have small children in the home, please make sure that they are experienced with dogs this size. Bratwurst has a great personality; he not only gets along with other dogs, but he likes cats, too! He would be a fine little dog to have around! Transport Fee: $160.00-- We consider the transport to be of great importance and, as such, take particular care of the dogs during the trip. We make every effort to arrive with healthy and minimally stressed dogs. **It is rare that we know with certainty the ages or mixes that make up our dogs, but we do our best to be as accurate as possible based upon our experience. **June 7, 2025, 7:55 pm

Meet Andouille, a 7-month-old Dachshund mix with a with a wonderful personality. He presently weighs 11 pounds; and will mature to only around15 pounds. (Because of his small size, he should not be in a house with small children unless they are experienced with handling small dogs.) This is a boy who is good with cats as well as other dogs. He's very playful and outgoing, but when naptime comes, he's ready to plop down into puppy dreams! What a delight he is! Story
Meet Peyton! Peyton was part of an abandoned family of pups we rescued this winter. She and her mate, Woody, had been surviving outside in the bitter cold when we found them. Peyton was very pregnant and in need of immediate help. Thankfully, we got them to safety just in time for her to deliver her puppies in a warm, loving foster home. Now that her pups are weaned and she’s been spayed, Peyton is officially retired from motherhood and ready to begin her next chapter, finding a forever home of her own. Peyton has been in her local foster home for about 6 weeks now, living with her foster parents and two small dogs. She integrated easily into the pack and enjoys the company of other pups. She’s a young, playful girl who would love to have a canine companion in her new home to keep her company and share in her adventures. Kristin, her foster mom, describes Peyton as having a great personality. She can be a little shy at first, but with just a little attention, she settles in quickly and builds trust. She’s a fun little low rider who enjoys playing fetch and loves her toys. She's housetrained, crate-trained, but has earned free-roam privileges in her foster home. Peyton has a moderate energy level. She's happy romping around with her foster siblings but also enjoys cuddling up on the couch for some downtime. She’s very enthusiastic about giving kisses, and Kristin is working with her on moderation. Peyton has started going on regular leash walks and seems to really enjoy them. She loves the outdoors and greets new people and dogs with ease.   FOSTER MOM UPDATE - 5/4/25 "Peyton is super sweet, loves to cuddle, and watches out our front window, taking everything in. She’s a good eater and sleeps soundly through the night. She loves to give kisses, sometimes too much, so we are working on that.  She's been great with our pack, and we've even had some playdates with neighborhood dogs. She would do best with a dog buddy who will play with her. She loves to run around and explore the yard with the other dogs.  Petydon has done great with house training, no accidents at all, and enjoys her walks too. I have not noticed fear of traffic or cars that have gone by us while walking. She is more curious about people and wildlife. Otherwise, she is a pretty confident walker." ********* Peyton is a lovely little dog with goodwill toward everyone she meets. She’ll make a wonderful, affectionate companion, and a perfect pup buddy, too.  Apply today! Story
Meet Amelia. This sweet girl was surrendered to a rural county shelter along with two other pregnant dogs from the same home. Stories like this break our hearts—three expectant moms under one roof, likely the result of unaltered male and female dogs living together. When the shelter reached out for help, Worthy Dog Rescue stepped in. We took in Amelia, and one of our partner rescues welcomed her puppies, ensuring this little family gets the bright future they deserve. Thankfully, Amelia was able to deliver her puppies in the safety and comfort of a foster home, where she proved to be an attentive, loving mom. It was immediately clear that she adores people—she’s affectionate, cuddly, and always eager for human companionship. She also has excellent doggy social skills, getting along with every pup she meets. Currently, she’s in a foster home with a larger dog and three cats. Her foster mom describes her as a very friendly pup who adjusts well to new situations—"A couple of sniffs, and she’s good to go!" She enjoys playdates with a neighbor’s dog and loves romping around with her foster sibling. Amelia is still a young pup, with all the energy and enthusiasm of adolescence. She’s always up for an adventure—whether it’s a walk (which she loves!), a road trip, backyard zoomies, or a car ride. She’s social, confident, and the perfect sidekick for an active household. But when the day winds down, she’s also a champion cuddler, happiest curled up on the couch with her favorite human. She sleeps soundly through the night, nestled in a cozy ball on her foster parent’s bed. House manners? Amelia has them! She’s fully house-trained and has never had an accident in her foster home. She tolerates the crate for treats (even if it’s not her favorite), and her leash skills are decent—she may pull a little when excited to meet a new dog, but only out of friendly enthusiasm. Her foster parents crate her when they leave her home alone to avoid her getting into mischief. Her foster mom describes her as medium energy—she’s playful and active but also respectful of the older dog in the home, knowing when to settle down and entertain herself with a toy or nap.  We think that Amelia would thrive in an active home with another playful pup and maybe some kids to romp around with. She’s a fantastic family dog just waiting for the perfect match. Apply today!
