Story
Amira is a goofy girl who absolutely loves her people! She’s happiest when she’s right by your side—whether you’re doing chores around the house or settling in for a movie night, she’ll be there keeping you company. Amira does great with other dogs and kids, and she loves playing tug-of-war with her dog friends or proudly carrying a stuffy around like it’s her prized possession. Food is definitely one of her favorite things! When it’s time to eat, she gets so excited she’ll bounce all the way to her kennel like a little bucking bronco. She knows how to sit, and when you ask her to “down,” she’ll happily flop right onto her back. Amira walks on a leash and does well, though she can occasionally get nervous and put on the brakes—but a few treats and some encouragement get her moving again. She’s ready for her forever home and would do great as an only dog or with canine siblings. Amira is just looking for a family to love—and to stick close to forever. Local adoption fee is $200(in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $450 (includes transport your area)

HOW TO ADOPT: This animal is available for adoption by appointment. To schedule a time to meet this animal, please email meetme@arl-iowa.org.---- A scruffy goofball who loves to play! ADORES tennis balls - bonus if they squeak! And really loves any toy that makes noise - in his foster home he has a crinkly sushi roll he is obsessed with - Very nosy - needs and wants to be involved no matter what the activity is. Loading the dishwasher? Heck, yes. Doing laundry? He'll help you fold. Girls night? He'll get his blankie! - Has zero stranger danger - if it has a heartbeat it's a new friend opportunity; met his foster mom's senior citizen parents and was gentle but did want to sit in their laps- Would love a home with a fenced yard where he can get all his wiggles out; he's a BIG fan of snow!- Has been potty trained in his foster home; just remember that any dog may need time to get used to a new schedule- Is used to going in his crate when his foster family goes to work and will go in with treats- Overall does well on a leash but may pull when he really wants to go a certain way, so a harness is great for him - Knows sit and come and is very treat-motivated - AWESOME in the car and will lay down in the back seat and take a nap- Sometimes prefers the cardboard boxes his toys come in to the actual toys - Likes to watch TV and is a BIG fan of Michael B. Jordan in "Sinners" - Very, very sweet and knows when his foster family has had a hard day and needs extra cuddles- Recently met a dog friend he had a blast with in his foster home - they ran and played in the yard, wrestled on the couch and had a grand time; may love having a dog friend to play with in his new home - Was a bit much for a preschool-age child he met in his foster home - he was just so excited! Will do best with kids who are old enough to enjoy his happy energy and be OK if he sometimes forgets to watch out for those around him- Hasn't bothered any of the plants in his foster home - A really unique dog with fabulous whiskers, an adorable underbite and a loud snore - he'll be a great friend for a lucky family! This pet qualifies for our 7-day Foster-to-Adopt program. If you're interested in fostering to adopt, please reach out to meetme@arl-iowa.org.All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age)The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label. Primary Color: Tan Secondary Color: White Weight: 72 Age: 2yrs 5mths 2wks

Story
I have had so many chances in my young life. Seriously...I was found with four siblings at about 2.5 weeks old, dumped in a box at the post office... we were so, so sick and close to death. My rescue mom really worked hard to get us healthy and LIVE. And we did! About 6 weeks later, we all got parvo..... and my rescuer was able to nurse all of us out of it! All my siblings have been adopted, and I am ready too! I am somewhat shy and will take time to settle into my new family. But I will adjust. I am best with another dog, calm and confident, because I will mirror that energy. As a gorgeous catahoula/whippet mix, I have plenty of energy and I love to play! Fetch and chase games are my favorite . I am adoptable in Texas, I need to meet my family and you need to meet me! Local adoption fee is $250 (in TX)

Story
Lyric is the kind of puppy who feels a little like discovering a wildflower in a quiet field—beautiful, a little shy at first, and full of life once she begins to open up. This sweet merle girl may start off a bit reserved with new people, but it doesn’t take long before her playful and affectionate personality shines through. Once Lyric feels safe, her joyful puppy spirit really comes to life. She loves to explore, play, and bounce around with the happy curiosity that only young dogs seem to have. Her gentle nature makes her especially endearing—she’s the kind of dog who watches carefully, learns quickly, and slowly grows more confident every day. Lyric enjoys the company of other dogs and benefits from having canine friends around to help her feel comfortable and show her the ropes. She would do well in a home that understands that shy puppies just need a little patience and encouragement to blossom. With kindness and consistency, Lyric will continue to grow into a confident, loving companion. At just six months old, Lyric still has her whole life ahead of her. She’s ready for a family who will help her discover the world, celebrate her small victories, and give her the safe place she deserves to call home. If you’re looking for a sweet, gentle puppy who will grow alongside you and fill your life with joy, Lyric may be the perfect match. Local adoption fee is $250(in TX)
