If you have ANY QUESTIONS or are truly interested in adopting any animal from PAW Animal Shelter Please, fillout an adoption application FIRST!   WE are a high intake No Kill Shelter ran by a staff of 4 and do not always have time to answer every question asked by so many. If you are a good fit for the animal you are interested in -we will call to speak with you, If we feel you are not a good fit , we will contact you about other pets that may be a good fit for your home. Many people are losing the opportunity to adopt the animal they want because they fail to put in an application and the pet was adopted before we could answer your email. .If you have applied for an animal in our facility and have not received a response within 7 days, PLEASE call or contact us again. Though we do our best in trying to answer all emails in a timely manner, sometimes things get away from us, get lost or misplaced. It is never our intention to ignore a request about an adoptable animal in our facility. Sandy Brown, Director, PAW Animal Shelter 319-372-2274 ##2550586##

Story
Finn is an affectionate nearly 2-year-old German Shepherd × Australian Shepherd who thrives on human interaction. He’s chatty, sociable, and loves attention. Training takes a bit of patience and repetition, but he responds well with consistent, positive methods. Personality and behavior • Temperament: Affectionate, people-focused, talkative • Energy: Moderate to high — enjoys play, walks, and interactive time with humans • Training style: Learns with patience; benefits from short, consistent sessions and positive reinforcement • Vocalization: Likes to “talk” and use his voice to engage with people • Social needs: Craves companionship and regular interaction Ideal home • Someone or a family who can provide lots of human time, engagement, and consistent training • Active household that can offer daily mental stimulation and exercise • Best with an adopter prepared for gentle, patient training rather than quick fixes Care notes • Short, frequent training sessions with rewards work best; avoid long repetitive drills • Daily walks, play, and enrichment toys will help burn energy and keep him focused • Positive reinforcement, clear boundaries, and predictable routine improve progress

Story
Meet Dorito! This 5-year-old, 28-pound mixed breed may have had a rough start, but he’s making incredible progress thanks to his dedicated foster. Found as a terrified stray, Dorito has been slowly learning to trust and is blossoming into a sweet, playful companion. He loves using the doggy door to take his toys outside, where he entertains himself by tossing them around. He enjoys being brushed, is now taking treats from his foster’s hand, and is gradually getting used to a leash. Dorito is quiet and calm in the home and seems to be house-trained.This special boy would thrive in a patient, loving home with another dog to help boost his confidence. If you have a gentle heart and a soft spot for a pup who just needs a little extra love, Dorito could be the perfect fit for you!

Story
***The first step in the adoption process is to complete the application at www.emmetcountyanimalshelter.org*** Chase is the name of this sweet and adorable pup.  We are told he is a Dalmatian/boxer mix and is about 4 months old.  The family that had gotten him decided they were not ready for a puppy.  While we can understand that puppies are a lot of work because frankly they really are, we want Chase's next family to be his last so please before applying do some research on the Dalmatian breed and be prepared for bringing home a high energy pup!  Chase is a lovely boy who is already very eager to do what the humans ask of him.  He is still working on the potty training thing so having patience and a consistent schedule for him will be important while he learns this important skill.  Chase loves other dogs, doesn't like the cold and loves toys!  He is cautious when meeting new people and because of this we would encourage any new family to actively work at helping Chase have new positive experiences and to meet new people in a safe and friendly way.  Dalmatians are sensitive dogs that need quite a bit of exercise and socialization to be well balanced dogs.  Chase will likely be about 60 pounds when grown and be very athletic so while he will likely love some couch cuddle time it will only be after a good run or good interactive play session. Chase is up to date on vaccinations and microchipped.  He will be adopted on a spay/neuter contract and his adoption fee is $300.00.  Are you ready for a spunky boy with lots of love to give that has big feelings and is ready to go for a run or perhaps a ride in your fire truck should you happen to have one of those???  July 16, 2025, 7:48 pm
