Story
Roscoe is such an amazing dog. We got him when we was just weeks old from a church friend whose dog had puppies with the neighbor's dog. The breeds are Dalmatian and Blue Heeler, but blue heeler was not an option on the dropdown menu. Roscoe is very responsive to commands and loves attention from his owners. He is a people pleaser and has gets along very well with our Shiba. He has not been around other species, but if introduced properly, he is okay with other canines. We recently had our first child and have been able to keep Roscoe away from the baby up till our son started crawling and walking. Roscoe can be defensive when eating, and our son doesn't understand personal space, so we cannot tolerate the risk of having him in the house anymore. Roscoe is an amazing dog and will be a great companion and friend to any owner, specifically someone without small children. I am willing to help with food, toys, fees, or anything of that nature, just ask!

Oreo is a 5 year old male. We got him as a 3 month old puppy from someone on Facebook. Oreo needs a home with someone who can give him the attention he needs, he’s not a fan of young kids (toddler, babies). We would prefer that he goes to a home with older kids or no kids, he has never been around cats so we don’t know how he would act. He needs someone who can give him the attention he needs and deserves.

Meet Gotham Gotham is a 7-year-old male Dalmatian (microchipped but needing neuter and vaccinations, which we'll get done for him soon!) His $155 adoption fee includes those services and other care received. Gotham came into the shelter with Bandit, a 10-year-old female husky. (She is already spayed and microchipped and will be getting updated vaccinations soon.) FOSTER/foster-to-adopt/adoption NEEDED for both! Our shelter is full and we can't take in any additional dogs, and our regular foster homes are full, too. We'd love to see Gotham in a home with someone familiar with the breed who would help us continue getting him to a healthy weight so he can live a long happy lifetime. Both of these dogs truly enjoy playing in the giant yard, and just enjoy life as it comes. They are KID AND CAT FRIENDLY, which makes them an even bigger catch! The Fort Leavenworth Stray Facility is open 11-4 MWF, but we recommend calling to make sure someone is there before visiting, especially if coming from off post. Meet Auggie, our beautiful Catahoula/Shepherd friend with City of Raytown Animal Services! Auggie was abandoned by her owners and then ran in fear for days in the middle of a highway; she was even struck by a car at one point. Thankfully, Auggie is safe now. And despite everything she's been through, she's a sweet and loving girl. Auggie is around a year old and would love a home where she can fully relax, be leash walked, and build up her confidence. She has warmed up quickly to the staff caring for her with a slow introduction. A new forever home would allow her to get back to being the goofy young pup we know she is. Meet our friend Andy from @Unleashed Pet Rescue and Adoption. This sweet, energetic guy has been waiting a while for his new home, but he knows the right person or people will see him and pick him soon. Read about Andy and then let us know if you'd like to meet him. Maybe you'll be the one to pick Andy. Let's start by telling you that Andy is funny and entertaining and loving and such a goof. He's an eight-year-old pointer mix who has plenty of pointer energy. He would love an adult-only home where there aren't a lot of people coming and going because new people can be scary. He would be fabulous in a home with patient people who adore him, and where he can go on lots of walks or runs and play ball outside -- his favorite game! An avid nature lover, Andy also likes to watch birds and squirrels. (He's really just a little nosey, so he'll happily keep an eye on the neighborhood for you, too. Remember Mrs. Kravitz from Bewitched?) Andy is also a very smart boy. He's already crate trained and house trained, knows basic commands, and is always up for learning more. Do you have other pets in your home? Andy could do well with another pet (including cats!), as long as he had a proper, slow introduction. And here's another cool thing about Andy -- he's currently in board and train with The Pet Connection and would continue with classes and support after adoption.
