Auggie: adoption pending!'s Story Adoption pending! Pretty girl Auggie is 16 months old. She's headed to the vet 12/19 to get her vaccinations up to date and microchipped, and she'll be ready for her new home! Foster/foster to adopt! We want to help make sure it's a good match for all, so we offer foster to adopt as an option. We are also trying to get our pups into foster care as often as possible to make covering shifts easier for our volunteers and so the pups can enjoy living in a home environment instead of the shelter. Let us know if you're interested! Call 913-335-0788 for an appointment. Email fortleavenworthstrayfacility@gmail.com for an adoption application. Note: FLSF is a volunteer-run facility. Meet our friend Andy from @Unleashed Pet Rescue and Adoption. This sweet, energetic guy has been waiting a while for his new home, but he knows the right person or people will see him and pick him soon. Read about Andy and then let us know if you'd like to meet him. Maybe you'll be the one to pick Andy. Let's start by telling you that Andy is funny and entertaining and loving and such a goof. He's an eight-year-old pointer mix who has plenty of pointer energy. He would love an adult-only home where there aren't a lot of people coming and going because new people can be scary. He would be fabulous in a home with patient people who adore him, and where he can go on lots of walks or runs and play ball outside -- his favorite game! An avid nature lover, Andy also likes to watch birds and squirrels. (He's really just a little nosey, so he'll happily keep an eye on the neighborhood for you, too. Remember Mrs. Kravitz from Bewitched?) Andy is also a very smart boy. He's already crate trained and house trained, knows basic commands, and is always up for learning more. Do you have other pets in your home? Andy could do well with another pet (including cats!), as long as he had a proper, slow introduction. And here's another cool thing about Andy -- he's currently in board and train with The Pet Connection and would continue with classes and support after adoption. In this program, volunteers and staff work with me on basic obedience training, leash skills, and socialization. My adoption comes with 35% off my first Wayside Waifs Public Training Class.- Balls, squeaky toys, rope toys, I love them all! - I’m smart and food/treat motivated! - My foster family says that I am mostly housebroken!- I am eligible for a Slumber Pawty, a 7-10 day in-home trial period. I’m a darling, 6-month-old, 30-pound (and still growing!) Pointer mix, with soft puppy fur, the cutest, expressive face and ears, and a happy, spunky, delightful personality. I’m already crate trained and mostly housebroken too. I might have a few accidents as I get settled in, which is perfectly normal, but if you keep me on a schedule, it will help to set me up for success. I’ve recently learned to sit by the door when I need to go outside. I came to Wayside as a wee pup, all the way from a shelter in Hawaii that didn’t have space for me. I was adopted, but things didn’t end up working out for me there when I chased and cornered the resident cats. Oops! I wanted to play, but I guess they weren’t interested. Being in a shelter is stressful for an energetic young pup like me, so I spent my time jumping and carrying on in my kennel, just trying to get anyone’s attention.
