Story
Ghost is sponsored by River & Ben.Hi, I’m Ghost!I’m a pit bull–Dalmatian mix, which basically means I’m a marshmallow with feelings. I can be a little shy when we first meet, but once I learn to trust you, my fun and excitable personality really comes out. Personal space will become a thing of the past once I know you’re safe!I like to use my voice when I’m stressed and would do best as the only dog in a home or with a calm dog (I tend to mirror the feelings of those around me). The shelter can feel pretty overwhelming for me — all that barking and constant activity amps me up and makes it hard for me to show my true, snuggly self. Because of this kennel stress, I’m not always able to show potential adopters just how loving and sweet I really am.My humans here at the shelter are open to a foster-to-adopt situation so I can decompress outside of the shelter and show you who I truly am in a home environment. Once I’m out of the chaos, my cuddly, loyal personality really shines.Apartment life isn’t really my style — I’d love a home with a fenced backyard where I can feel safe, happy, and get my energy out with zoomies. With a little patience and understanding, I promise to be the most devoted and loving companion. If you are interested in meeting me, the shelter is open Monday through Saturday 11am – 6pm and Sunday 11am – 4pm. If you’d like to schedule an appointment, check out the pets’ profile on our website at newberganimals.com to fill out an application and email to frontdesk@newberganimals.com.Due to COVID-19, we are currently only open by appointment. For the past two years, he’s been with the rescue, watching other dogs find their homes while he patiently hopes his turn will come. He doesn’t understand why he’s still here—but he never stops being the happy, loving dog he’s always been. Personality Benito is a joyful, affectionate dog who truly loves people. He has a happy, easygoing spirit and brings warmth wherever he goes. He enjoys being around others, soaking up attention, and simply being part of a family. He’s the kind of dog who greets you with happiness, stays close, and makes you feel like you matter. His love is genuine, steady, and always there. Breed Info As an Australian Shepherd / Dalmatian mix, Benito carries traits of: Intelligence and awareness A loyal, people-focused nature A balanced mix of energy and companionship This mix creates a dog who is engaged, loving, and adaptable, happy to be active but also content just being with his people. Ideal Home Benito would do best in a home where he is finally given the love and stability he has been waiting for. He will thrive with a family who includes him in daily life and gives him the attention he deserves. Owner Responsibilities Benito will need regular exercise, routine, and continued care. Like all dogs, he requires structure, guidance, and a lifelong commitment. Things to Consider He has been waiting longer than most. Zero is Sponsored by Shirlee SittonMeet Zero,At just 6 months old, this handsome pit bull mix is full of love, potential, and puppy charm. Zero found his way back to the shelter through no fault of his own—his previous adopters developed allergies and made the difficult decision to return him. Despite the change, Zero has remained the same sweet, affectionate, and resilient boy.Zero is a social butterfly who gets along wonderfully with kids, cats, and most dogs he’s met. He has a gentle, friendly nature and loves being part of the action, whether that’s playtime with furry friends or snuggling up with his people after a long day. This smart pup is already off to a great start with his training! He’s food motivated (which makes learning even more fun) and knows commands like “sit” and “wait,” especially before exiting his crate. With continued guidance and consistency, he’s sure to grow into an amazing lifelong companion. As a young and energetic dog, Zero will need regular exercise to stay happy and healthy. A fenced backyard where he can run, play, and burn off that puppy energy will help him truly thrive. If you’re looking for a loving, playful, and devoted companion, Zero might just be your perfect match. He’s ready to leave shelter life behind and start his next chapter—with a forever family to call his own.If you are interested in meeting Zero, the shelter is open Monday through Saturday 11am – 6pm, Sunday 11am-4pm (Summer Hours). If you’d like to schedule an appointment, check out the pets’ profile on our website at newberganimals.com to fill out an application and email to frontdesk@newberganimals.com.Due to COVID-19, we are currently only open by appointment. Story
Romeo is sponsored by the Litke Family.Meet Romeo If you’re looking for a dog who will truly love you, Romeo is ready to give his whole heart. This sweet boy has been waiting far too long for his happily ever after, and he deserves a family who will cherish and spoil him the way he’s always deserved.Romeo is incredibly affectionate and devoted to his people. He’s a total leaner who wants to press right up against you, soaking in every bit of closeness he can. After he’s had a chance to stretch his legs and play (a fenced yard where he can safely run and explore would be perfect for him), he’s happiest curled up as close as possible—sometimes somehow folding himself into the tiniest little ball just to stay connected to his person. He’s playful, loyal, and eager to be part of your everyday life—whether that’s enjoying time outside together or relaxing at home. Romeo bonds deeply and loves with his whole heart. He’s been so patient while waiting for someone to choose him. Now he just needs a loving family to finally say, “You’re home.” Could you be the one to give Romeo the forever he’s been dreaming of? He’s loyal, loving, and ready to finally have a place to call home. Romeo has been patient… now he just needs someone to choose him. The shelter is also open to a foster-to-adopt situation so Romeo can decompress outside of the shelter and show you who he truly is in a home environment. Once he's out of the chaos, his loving and loyal side really comes through. If you are interested in meeting Romeo, the shelter is open Monday through Saturday 11am – 6pm and Sunday 11am – 4pm.
