Story
Cooper is a 4-year-old Kelpie mix with a gentle, thoughtful spirit who just needed time to feel safe. When he first arrived in his foster home, it was clear he hadn’t had much (if any) socialization with people or everyday life inside a home. Regular household sounds, movement, even the TV were overwhelming. His crate became his safe place, and he would choose to go there often just to feel secure. With patience and consistency, Cooper has slowly blossomed. Now he spends most of his day resting calmly on the couch or laying in the kitchen while meals are being made. He used to be nervous in the car, but now he gets excited to go for rides. He didn’t understand treats at first, but now he joyfully pops up on his hind legs to ask for one. Cooper does very well with dogs of all sizes and is respectful of cats. He is crate trained and doing well with potty training—he hasn’t had an accident in the house in about a week. Though he is around 4 years old, he still has a bit of youthful playfulness in him. He loves belly rubs, gentle massages, chewing on toys, and watching the world go by from the cat perch. On walks, he is calm, rarely pulls, and often looks back to “check in” with his person—he truly wants to do things right. Because unpredictable movement can still make him nervous, Cooper would do best in a calm home without young children. He needs someone who can offer patience, steadiness, and understanding. Cooper has already come so far. With a loving, reassuring person by his side, he will continue to open up and become the loyal, tender, devoted companion he is meant to be. He’s a premium grade Love Nugget™ with a heart of pure gold. 💛 Ritchie is a 40 to 50 lb Australian Kelpie mix who has been at the shelter since February 2021 and somehow has not lost his joy. He’s always ready for smooches 😘, a good walk 🚶‍♂️, and snacks. All the snacks. Honestly, he loves snacks so much that he might actually be a snack. 🍪🐶 He can be a little shy when meeting new people, especially men, but once you’re in? You’re IN. His silly, affectionate side comes out and it’s game over. He has a soft spot for the ladies 💁‍♀️ and our volunteers adore him. Around here, he proudly holds the title of Love Nugget. Ritchie is a slow burn kind of guy 🔥. A few leash walks and gentle introductions help him build trust. He’s not going to run into your arms on day one, but the bond you build with him will be deep, loyal, and worth every second. Bonus. 🍖 Meet Yeti “Spaghetti” 🥰 | The Gentle Cuddlebug Yeti came to us in February 2025 from the urgent list at Animal Control after being picked up as a stray with PARVO. He was very sick when he arrived, but this resilient boy pulled through and is now healthy, happy, and almost two years old! At first, Yeti wasn’t sure how to play with other dogs, but now he loves roughhousing and running around with his best friend Bon Jovi, as well as Amber and Mystic. He adores other dogs and playing with them is one of his favorite things! Yeti is calm, curious, and a little timid with new people, so he takes a bit of time to warm up. Once he does, he’s a big sweetheart who loves cuddles, hugs, and kisses. He’s not much for toys yet—he flinches when they’re tossed—but he’s perfect for snuggles and gentle play. He may be a little too timid for homes with young children. Yeti is fully vetted, leash-trained, and ready to find his forever home. Meet Princess! 👑 Princess is a 1 year old Hound/Beagle/German Shorthaired Pointer mix who came to us from the same situation as Hank, her dad. Her mom is Heidi, also from the same group, so this little girl is truly one-of-a-kind! She’s just about fully grown and is teeny-tiny for her breed mix, weighing only around 40 pounds. Princess may be small, but her personality shines bright. She’s a very sweet, affectionate pup who loves people and adores being held. Unlike her dad Hank, who’s on the timid side, Princess is more outgoing and eager to make friends. She’s dog-friendly, playful, and would love a family to keep her busy with fun and love. Like Hank, Princess has likely never been walked on a leash before. When one is clipped on, she tends to freeze up, lie down, or tug against it. Her forever family will need to be patient and help her learn that walks can be fun and safe. With time, consistency, and encouragement, she’ll catch on quickly. Princess is fully vetted and ready to start her new life. She’s a sweet, unique little girl who deserves to grow up in a home filled with love, snuggles, and adventures.
