Story
Hi. I'm Toby, an 11-year-old neutered male Bichon Frise mix. I was adopted from Safe Place a few years ago but sadly my owners passed away. I returned to Safe Place and I'm sure I can adapt to a new home. Currently, I'm with a foster. I'm crate trained and walk well on a leash. I look forward to my visits to the Bear Creek dog park every day. I'm very good about riding in the car. I'm laid back and calm around other dogs but haven't been around cats. I prefer an adult only home. Apart from declining vision due to age, I'm very healthy and have had good veterinary care. I will need regular grooming, however. I hope for another owner who wants to provide a loving forever home. My $200 adoption donation includes vaccinations, a microchip, a recent Heartworm test which was negative, a leash and collar, my own crate, and a month's worth of food. Story
HIGHLIGHTS:Needs another confident dog already in the homeNeeds a fenced-in backyardExperienced and patient familyNeeds an adult only home#### Meet Fancy, a resilient two-year-old Lhasa Apso weighing 12 pounds. Though initially shy, Fancy actively works with our dedicated staff to build courage and improve social interactions. With these interactions every day, she dreams of a patient and loving family who will support her journey of growth. With the right loving and patient family, Fancy will undoubtedly thrive and become a beloved lifelong companion.Fancy needs a home with an experienced owner to continue to help her grow. Although still shy of people, Fancy will gladly take treats. She also loves to play and throw a toy around as she zooms around the play yard. She would benefit from a small or medium-sized confident dog in the home to help show her the ropes. She can be weary of big dogs at first, but she just needs a chance to get to know them. Fancy is working on her leash training and her comfort level with humans, but has already come so far! Because of this she will need a home with a secure fenced in yard of at least 4' in height. * * * *Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization. As a result, there is often an adjustment period when learning about life as a family pet. Because some of our dogs are very under socialized, they may not be a good fit for young children. Homes with older children will be considered on an individual basis. Some of our more fearful dogs will do best in a home with another dog and a securely fenced yard. Common skills such as house training and leash walking will often take extra time. Patience, understanding and a gentle hand are a must. The great news is, many of these dogs come around with patience and being a part of their rehabilitation is an extremely rewarding experience. Story
Meet Judie, a sweet 11-pound Lhasa Apso with a gentle, shy nature who's making incredible progress in her foster home. Though she's a little on the timid side, Judie has a heart full of love and snuggles right in when you pick her up, happily cuddling or napping in your arms. She has a silly side, too! When you ask her if she needs to go outside to potty, she might tilt her head and lie down, only to take herself out a few minutes later-perhaps she likes to be the boss!Judie thrives on routine and is doing great with her outside potty training. She's always ready for lap time after a successful trip outside. While she's still shy around new people, she'll allow gentle pets once she's warmed up and prefers slow, calm movements and a gentle voice. She enjoys being brushed and gets along well with other dogs, making her a lovely companion.Judie is making strides every day, but she still needs time and patience, especially in a quiet, calm environment, as unexpected noises can be scary for her. She would do best in an adult-only home or a home with older children who can respect her need for gentleness and care. With love and patience, Judie will continue to blossom into the brave girl she was always meant to be.- - - - -Before being rescued, many of our dogs have had limited socialization, so they may need a bit of time to adjust to life as a family pet. Older kids are often a great fit for our dogs, and homes with younger children will be considered based on each dog's individual needs. Skills like house training and leash walking may take a little extra patience and practice. However, with understanding and a gentle hand, most of these dogs adapt quite quickly. Being a part of their rehabilitation is a truly rewarding experience. To learn more about mill dogs and start the adoption process, visit our website!
