Story
Meet Biscotti! This dynamic doberman/kelpie mix is two years old, 47 pounds, and can't wait to start her new life with you! Before coming to GLDR, Biscotti spent some time in a foster home and they had nothing but wonderful things to say about her! This impressive girl is house-trained and crate-trained. Biscotti rides well in the car and ready to join you on all of your adventures. She loves her toys but is also a fan of lounging around the house. She also spent time around young children and did great with them. Biscotti is a curious and attentive girl who is very eager to please. She already knows how to sit but is capable of learning so much more. She takes her treats gently is always up for a nice full body rub. Biscotti doesn't hesitate to show her affection and loves to snuggle in every chance she gets! As she is a young lady, she will benefit from continued training and lots of mental stimulation. She will need daily exercise and a yard to run around in. Looking for a pal to hit the trail with? Biscotti is your girl! Based on our evaluation, we feel Biscotti will do best in an active home with adults or families with kids eight and up. She may have the ability to live in a home with other dogs and we are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby. If you think she could be the gal you've been searching for, head to greatlakesdogrescue.com today and submit your application for our beautiful Biscotti!

Story
**If you are interested in adopting Zeus, please contact Paolo at roz-ross-cabinets@sbcglobal.net ** Zeus is a 10-year-old Doberman who has been with his family since he was a puppy. He’s a loyal, loving boy who truly thrives when he can be the center of attention — the only big baby in the home. Zeus prefers an adult-only household and would do best as the only dog. He does not like children or other dogs, and his reaction to cats is unknown. A few years ago, Zeus had a negative experience when a child jumped on his back and pulled his tail. Since then, he has been uncomfortable around kids. While Zeus has never bitten, he will growl when he feels stressed or unsafe, so a calm, child-free environment is essential. In the right home, Zeus is a devoted companion who wants nothing more than love, stability, and someone who understands his boundaries. His family is making the difficult decision to rehome him as they prepare to welcome a baby and want to ensure Zeus is placed in a situation where he can feel secure and relaxed. Zeus would be a wonderful match for an experienced, adult-only home looking for a loyal companion to spoil and love. ❤️ *This pet is featured through our Pet Re-Homing Program. This is a private pet. Please use your best judgement when deciding to meet. Any questions or comments regarding this pet should be directed to the owner listed. Again, this is not a pet affiliated with Oakland County Animal Shelter. This program was created to help residents of Oakland County needing placement of a loving pet and hopefully avoiding a stressful shelter environment.

Story
Meet Leah! Leah is a beautiful Doberman Pinscher puppy with a big heart and an even bigger love for her people. Born on 8/31/25 and currently weighing 29 lbs (and growing), Leah was adopted as a very young puppy but sadly returned when the young children in the home became fearful of her. Despite this, Leah remains a sweet, social pup with all the normal, joyful puppy behaviors you’d expect. Leah is the definition of a Velcro dog - she wants to be right by your side and proudly earns the title of best bed snuggler. She loves to play hard, zoom around the yard, and then race inside to refuel at mealtime. She enjoys meeting new people, does well with other dogs that are tolerant of puppy energy, and has no issues with cats. This active girl loves to run and frolic outdoors, so a secure, physical fenced yard is a necessity - running is truly her favorite thing. She does fairly well on leash walks but is still working on pulling and may bark at passing people to get their attention. Leah also enjoys car rides and already knows some basic commands. Leah can be a bit submissive, especially if she thinks she may be reprimanded, and will thrive with continued consistency, positive reinforcement, and structure. She is currently working on perfecting her house manners and will benefit from a family committed to ongoing training. Leah’s ideal home would be with a Doberman-experienced family and older, dog-savvy children who understand puppy behavior and the needs of this intelligent, loyal breed. Leah is looking for a furever family to love, guide, and grow with her - and she promises endless snuggles, loyalty, and joy in return. Leah can go home with you but will remain in foster-to-adopt status until the sterilization surgery has been completed at 6 months of age at one of our partner veterinary offices (Chesterfield, Clawson, Clinton Twp, or Rochester), which is included in the adoption fee and is non-negotiable. Leah is:Current on age appropriate vaccinations DewormedReceiving Heartworm and Flea PreventionMicrochippedWill be scheduled for spay surgery at one of partner Veterinary offices at 6 months of age.ADOPTION FEE: $375 IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THIS PET, PLEASE COMPLETE THE APPROPRIATE APPLICATION FOUND ON OUR WEBSITE HTTP://FUREVERTAILS.COM. Unfortunately, at this time we are not currently adopting outside of the state of MI. We process applications ONLY - there is no guarantee that you will get a response to an inquiry. Many of the animals in our foster program come to us with limited or unknown histories. We make every effort to evaluate each animal’s temperament and behavior, including testing their interactions with other dogs, cats, and children (defined as individuals under the age of 18, when available). However, every animal is unique—just as every child and household environment is different. While we strive to set both our foster animals and adoptive families up for success through thorough assessments and transparent communication, **we cannot guarantee any specific behavioral outcome**. Animals can be unpredictable by nature, and behavior may change in new environments or over time. By proceeding with adoption or foster placement, applicants acknowledge and accept this inherent risk and agree that no guarantees, either expressed or implied, are made regarding the temperament or behavior of any animal placed through our program. FUREVER TAILS IS A NON-PROFIT, NO-KILL, FOSTER HOME BASED ANIMAL RESCUE BASED OUT OF OAKLAND TOWNSHIP, MI. OUR FOSTER ANIMALS ARE LIVING IN FOSTER HOMES AND TREATED LIKE FAMILY UNTIL THEY FIND THEIR OWN FUREVER FAMILIES. OUR ADOPTION PROECESS REQUIRES AN APPLICATION TO BE COMPLETED AND APPROVED BEFORE A MEET-N-GREET WITH THE ANIMAL CAN TAKE PLACE. ADOPTION FEES ARE NECESSARY TO HELP US COVER VETTING COSTS FOR OUR RESCUED ANIMALS. ##2553914##

They were very sick initially but are very healthy now. Blair is a gentle little girl, but does love to run and play with other dogs. She has done amazing with her house and crate training. Story
Chico Diablo - is a stunning black and tan Doberman with cropped ears and a docked tail. He is lean, muscular and athletic - enjoys playing with balls and being outside. He will bark at noises, alarms/sirens and people outside of his property. He is affectionate with his foster family and clingy, pushes for attention and affection. Crate trained and sleeps in a crate overnight. Chico is leash trained and knows basic commands. Chico responds to verbal commands. This sweet and spicy Doberman is a family pet and will thrive in the right home. He wants affection, is house trained, crate trained, leash trained and enjoys a fenced in yard to exercise. A home with another dog (medium to large, female) would be comforting to Chico but not necessary. Video(s) https://www.facebook.com/share/r/1BPbijPQYh/ https://youtube.com/shorts/oOiOR44tgjM?si=plepzXeU9X5Uk1A8 Chico came to rescue with some baggage; he was grieving a lost home and confused at the shelter. Shelter staff noted he was 'nippy' and would avoid being petted. Chico uses his teeth without puncturing skin to ask for space when his collar was grabbed. Rescue agreed to give him time to decompress in a home, in his own space (crate) and with slow intros (every dog needs this!). Chico was walked out of the shelter, leaned on his foster and responded to verbal commands. We noted he would snap when his collar was pulled - a sign to us in our experience that abusive handling or improper use of a prong collar was applied on him. We moved him to secure fitted tactical collar and started working with him on touching his neck, pulling gently on the collar and reaching for the collar. Chico is trusting of people but would need confident owners to create boundaries for his safety (no board and training, muzzle during vet visits for strangers to poke him, mindful of who is around). Due to Chico's reactivity to being pull/grabbed by the collar - we do not recommend a home with small children. Chico is being self-protective and not aggressive in his reaction, but we do not want a child harmed or afraid of him. Chico is sensitive to yelling and not a dominate personality. Chico is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm treated and on prevention. Now at a healthy weight, shiny coat and food motivated. FOSTERED IN TEXAS. *Adoption Fee includes fee by van transport to PNW, Midwest or NY-NJ-CT-VA-VT states by pet transport partners. We quickly learned that the two male Dobermans did not like each other and were separated (both tagged and brought to rescue). Chico was fearful at first, barks and protects himself by backing up and growling. He was given time to decompress, trust and see the routine (crated in a bedroom for quiet, led by a leash to the backyard). Chico was paired up to a young male shepherd, confident female dogs for playtime. He will "fence fight" (run up to a barrier to growl/bark/push) another male - without barrier, he will back down and not engage but continue to growl and bark. Due to this repeated reaction to other larger male dogs, we do not recommend dog parks or a home with another male. He is submissive/gentle and playful with female dogs. Due to stress, Chico was underweight when he came to rescue. Not tested with cats or small animals.
