Story
Ginger is a 7.5 year old female Dobey/Lab mix. She weighs about 65-70 pounds and is extremely athletic (a great fetch, frisbee, and running partner). She is also goofy, cuddly and home-protective. Ginger is crate/house trained, and responds to SIT, STAY, DROP IT to drop the fetch toy, PAW to shake, etc. We rescued Ginger when she was 6-8 months old. She received manners training at a local puppy school. She has been with our family since then, and in that time we have had three (3) children who are currently 6 & under. My wife and I also both work full time, and now cannot give Ginger the attention and exercise she needs/deserves. This has led to behavioral issues that we believe would be mitigated with more attention & exercise. Ginger needs an experienced foster home/adopter, preferably as a solo pet. She would thrive with someone home-based, who enjoys regular exercise/walks, can provide space for Ginger to run/play outside and the attention she needs. She has lots of love to give.

Story
Meet our sweet older guy-Willie Nelson! He came to us from another shelter. He is such an affectionate boy. Loves all people! He would love nothing more to find a home where he can lay around all day and be around his people. He loves pets, loves attention. He will always great you with his a smiling face and wagging tail nubbin'!   We don’t know for sure what his breed makeup is, but believe he is a Doberman mix. We believe he is about 8.5 years old. He’s about 65 pounds.   We discovered Willie Nelson does have a condition called pancreatitis. He will need to stay on a prescription low fat diet for the rest of his life, and it’s important to monitor what treats he gets to prevent flare ups. Currently his pancreatitis is well managed.   He has met dogs of other sizes and there has been no problems, but proper introductions with other dogs in the homes is required. He has not yet been cat tested.   Willie Nelson is neutered, current on vaccines, microchipped, heartworm and tick disease tested and negative for all. He has also had senior bloodwork tests performed. An approved adoption application is required. The $200 adoption fee (payable by cash or check only) includes spay/neuter; senior bloodwork testing, microchip; dental teeth cleaning (if needed prior to adoption); vaccinations; heartworm and tick disease testing; fecal w/ giardia testing, monthly heartworm and flea and tick prevention . Our adoption application may be found by going to: www.headinhomerescue.org; then click on the link to the adoption application. Dogs for adoption may be seen by appointment only following an approved application. Proof of completion of an obedience class is required for all dogs following adoption. Please note: while we welcome out of state applications, we do not ship our animals and require adopters to come to Holland to finalize any adoption.October 9, 2025, 11:21 pm

Story
Finnley is an AKC Registered fawn/rust Doberman. Rehoming as I run 4 restaurants and am at the stores for 12+ hours a day. I just moved into an apartment with him and got an anti-barking collar however it isn’t working the best I had hoped as I received a noise complaint about him. Finn has had foreign body surgery in the past for an obstruction, he is also a counter surfer so food and any kitchen trash cans will have to be locked and stored away and him closely monitored when not secured in a cage/room. He is 50/50 with other dogs, he is a rough player and loves to zoom, his energy will be a bit too much for other pups most of the time. Cats he is good with, he does like to sniff them but has grown up with them 24/7 since he was brought in as a puppy. He has a sensitivity to chicken and will get gassy and have loose stool when fed any chicken based food. All of his blankets, items, food, and toys would come with him and I am open to bringing him to you as well.

These pups are in Kalamazoo, Michigan too!

Story
Name: Cash Breed Guess: Miniature Pinscher Age: 9 years old Gender: Neutered Male Weight: 20 pounds Adoption fee: $300 Am I good with: Children: No Cats: Yes Dogs: Yes, Meet and Greet Required About me: Hi, I'm Cash! I'm a quiet little guy with a gentle heart who just needs some time to feel safe. I'm very shy and tend to bond best with kind and calm women; men aren't really my thing, but I can live with them if I have a woman in my life too. I'm carrying a few extra pounds right now, so I'll need a little help getting back to my best self with light walks and healthy snacks. I may take a while to warm up, but once I trust you, I'll be your loyal little shadow. I've been at the ARP since 6/9/25 and am currently located in foster. The Animal Rescue Project (www.animalrescueproject.org) is committed to the best possible veterinary care for the pets it rescues and it is looking for adopters who will be similarly committed. Adoptions are NOT first come, first served! We seek to choose the best fit for the approved adopter and pet. Please understand that these animals are still new to us and their needs and requirements can change at any time as we learn more about them. We will try our best to get them updated online as soon as possible. All dogs and puppies are given a general check-up when they enter our program. They receive medication to remove any intestinal parasites (worms), fleas, and ticks they may have. Dogs greater than six months of age are checked for heartworm. If heartworm positive, the Animal Rescue Project treats the disease. Dogs and pups receive all age-appropriate vaccinations for distemper, and dogs greater than four months of age are also vaccinated for rabies, in compliance with State of Michigan laws. All dogs are also microchipped. Most dogs and older puppies are spayed or neutered before adoption. In the case of puppies not old enough to be safely sterilized, a $50 deposit is required at the time of adoption and is refunded to the adopter with proof of sterilization. The Animal Rescue Project requires every adopter to establish an active relationship with a veterinarian no later than 10 days after adoption. Adopters will receive a plan for routine veterinary care at the time of adoption and are expected to work with their vet to complete the plan.
