Story
Haisai is a smart, polished companion with an outstanding training foundation and a playful side waiting just beneath the surface. A shelter volunteer described him as a perfect loose-leash walker who naturally heels beside his person and regularly checks in without being asked. He is polite and attentive—qualities that make spending time with him a genuine pleasure.Haisai has an impressive repertoire of skills. He knows 'sit', 'down', 'stay', 'come', 'shake', and 'high five', and loves to show off on the shelter’s agility course. He is highly motivated by treats and eager to work with his person, making training a wonderful way to bond with him.Haisai is housetrained and familiar with a crate routine. His former caregiver reported that he had no accidents, stayed in a crate while home alone, and slept there overnight. He even understands 'go home' as a cue to enter his kennel. His favorite things include walks, squeaky toys, chewing on bones, exploring a yard, and receiving plenty of scratches and pets.Haisai also has experience playing and socializing with other dogs. During shelter playgroup, he began somewhat stiff and nervous but soon relaxed enough to enjoy zoomies and was successfully paired with a doggy roommate. He can become vocal or over-excited when he sees dogs through kennel gates or other barriers, so introductions should take place thoughtfully outside that environment. Haisai has potential to live with a well-matched canine companion—ask shelter staff about arranging a meet-and-greet with your resident dog!Haisai loves his people and may cry or bark when left alone for extended periods. A family that can provide companionship, enrichment, and gradual practice with being alone will help him settle successfully. He is also frightened by loud noises and would appreciate a quiet retreat when the world gets noisy. For someone seeking an exceptionally well-trained dog who can join them for walks, agility, playtime, and plenty of affection, Haisai has so much to offer! Come meet him today. Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: Brown Weight: 70.25 Age: 5yrs 2mths 4wks

Story
This gorgeous girl is not quite available for adoption as she is expecting and will soon be welcoming a family of her very own! We urgently need a maternity foster to help get her out of the stressful shelter so she can focus on giving her puppies everything they need to grow. Moms and puppies do not need a ton of space and prefer a quiet room or space to themselves as opposed to being a part of the household action; so if you've got a spare bedroom, office, bathroom or closet space where you can keep them separate from resident pets then you are perfect for maternity fostering! APA will gladly provide all supplies and give you a run down of what to expect throughout the process. We ask that maternity fosters keep mom and puppies until the puppies have weaned and started eating gruel, which is usually around 3-4 weeks of age. At that point we are able to move the puppies to new foster homes so they can start their journey towards adoption and mom as well if that is preferred. Or if you want to see the family through to adoption yourself we will gladly help you through that stage as well! Please reach out to give a family the quiet, comfy place they need during this vulnerable stage. You will get to enjoy an immense amount of puppy cuddles and joy watching them grow up. And as the foster you will get first priority for adopting mom or a puppy of your choice. Can you help a mom and her puppies by signing up to be a maternity foster today??
