Story
Please contact Tonya Griffith (TMSGriffith@aol.com) for more information about this pet.Posted 6/29/18, and pictures updated 5/10/20 - Callan was surrendered on 4/11/18. An older woman contacted the Smith County, TX Shelter about her young dog. The officer who talked to her, called me to see if I could help, since the shelter cannot take owner surrenders. I had recently had some adoptions, so I told him that he caught me at a good time. He brought the young dog to me later that day, and I didn't get the dog's name from the home, so I named him Callan. I took Callan to the Gresham Veterinary Hospital on 4/13/18 to get vaccinated, he was listed as a Doberman mix, 1.5 years old, weighed 44.6 pounds, and was neutered by Dehart Veterinary Services on 4/14/18.  As of 5/10/20, he weighs 54 pounds. Callan is good with adults and children, loves to play with the other dogs, has a high pitch bark at times when he sees things like squirrels in the trees, is good on a leash, and crate trained.  He loves to be pet, and will put his head on my lap to get pet.  He requires a fenced yard, and is not an apartment dog.  He didn't like to be crated at night, but got better.  I eventually stopped putting him in a crate at night, since he does well outside at night. Callan's adoption fee is $85. Anyone interested in adopting him, please e-mail me at TMSGriffith@aol.com. November 6, 2024, 12:13 am

Story
LOCATION: Boerne, TXDOB: 01/19/2022Meet Jojo—a loyal, loving, and endlessly overlooked gem who’s been waiting far too long for her forever. She came into rescue over a year and a half ago, pregnant and unsure, and watched every one of her puppies find homes while she stayed behind, quietly waiting her turn.Jojo is a striking Doberman-Cane Corso mix with the heart of a best friend and the soul of an athlete. Whether she’s trotting alongside her foster on 5Ks and 10Ks, keeping her foster company while making deliveries, or lounging peacefully in the dugout during softball games, Jojo is always ready to be part of the moment. She’s house-trained, crate-trained, and a total angel in the house—you can leave her out while you’re away without a single worry. No chewing, no destruction, just a couch potato holding down the fort. She’s a social butterfly who lights up around people, especially kids. Her love for children is something special—she happily rolls over for belly rubs and soaks up every bit of affection they offer. She’s calm, patient, and gentle, with a soft spot for the little ones. Out in public, she’s a well-mannered, leash-savvy companion who adores car rides and outings to dog-friendly stores. And at home, she’s your shadow—always nearby, always ready to cuddle, and never far from a window, where she can watch the world and dream of her own.Jojo is sharp and obedient—she knows her basic commands and thrives on structure. Give her a long lead and a quiet trail, and she’ll happily spend hours sniffing, exploring, and chasing the occasional squirrel. She’s got a strong prey drive, so cats are a no-go, and while she can be selective with dogs, she has made friends with the right ones after slow, respectful introductions. Her heart is big, but her trust with other dogs takes time. What Jojo needs most is someone who sees her—someone who understands that behind her stunning eyes is a dog who’s waited long enough. A home with children to love, adventures to join, and a warm couch to call her own would be her dream. She’s done being the dog left behind. She’s ready to be the one who stays—for good.If you're looking for a loyal sidekick, a running buddy, a snuggle partner, and a heart full of devotion, Jojo might be the one you’ve been waiting for. Because she’s certainly been waiting for you.Note: SRGDRR adopts nationwide and offers transport options to help you find your perfect match! Story
LOCATION: McKinney, TXDOB: 01/14/2024Meet Scooby, the laid-back Doberman Pinscher who’s all about the simple joys in life! This sweet guy may be a bit shy at first, but with a little time and patience, he’ll warm right up and be your devoted companion. His favorite thing in the world? Snuggling with his humans! Scooby is always by your side, following you around the house, just happy to be in your presence.Scooby gets along great with small dogs, and he’s good with cats, birds, and kids—he’s truly a gentle soul when it comes to his family. While he may have a bit of a weird dynamic with other adult male dogs (he’s had a few scuffles), we think he’d do better with a large female dog, though we’d recommend some introductions to be sure. But when it comes to little dogs, he’s absolutely smitten—he adores them!Big adventures or loud noises? Not really Scooby’s thing. He prefers a calm and quiet environment, where he can relax and enjoy the little things. However, he does enjoy some playtime in the yard and will happily romp around in the grass. Scooby has been known to counter-surf now and then, but he’s working hard to improve on that! Aside from that, he’s a quiet, well-behaved house guest who will fit in nicely with the right family. If you’re looking for a chill, snuggly, and lovable companion who just wants to be with you, Scooby might be the perfect match. He’s ready to find his forever home where he can kick back, relax, and enjoy all the love you have to give!Note: SRGDRR adopts nationwide and offers transport options to help you find your perfect match! Story
LOCATION: Newfoundland, PADOB: 01/19/2023Kobie is a striking Doberman with a gentle soul and a heart full of potential, just waiting for the right person to see it. You might remember him as “Julius,” the quiet boy who narrowly escaped his final moments in Houston thanks to a last-call rescue. Today, he’s safe, thriving, and searching for a calm, committed home where he can finally exhale. He’s got a few little skin tags around his eyes—nothing that bothers him or affects his vision, just a few harmless bumps that make him all the more unique. Underneath that sleek coat and alert gaze is a dog who’s been through more than we’ll ever really know, and because of that, Kobie prefers the quieter side of life. Loud homes, lots of visitors, and kids are just too much for him. He’s happiest in a steady, low-key environment where he can find comfort in routine and trust in his people.Kobie is house-trained, doesn’t chew or destroy, and has been learning to feel safe in a crate, even though he doesn’t need one. He’s a medium-energy companion who matches the mood of his home—ready for a play session when you are, but just as content to curl up for a quiet evening. While he can get nervous in new or stressful situations like vet visits, he responds best to calm, confident adults who give him leadership and space to settle in at his own pace.He gets along with other large, friendly dogs who are respectful and don’t bring drama—Kobie’s not interested in any tension. Small animals, however, are a no-go. His prey drive is strong, and cats and critters bring out his chase mode in full force.Out and about, he’s a good traveler, walks nicely on leash unless a squirrel happens to dash by, and can navigate public spaces without reacting to people. He’s incredibly smart and loves to learn—he knows all his basic commands and even some advanced tricks. One of his favorite things to show off is pressing a button across the room to release a treat from his toy. And if you ever forget he’s waiting for attention, he’ll give you a gentle paw to remind you he’s right there.Cuddles are high on Kobie’s list of priorities. He wants to be near you, to share your space, and to know he’s safe. He even tolerates nail trims with a Dremel like a pro—just one more reason he’s a special kind of dog.Kobie isn’t for everyone, but for the right person—someone patient, calm, and committed—he’s a loyal, loving, deeply rewarding companion. If you’re looking for a quiet shadow, a clever partner, and a pup with a story to tell, Kobie just might be the missing piece in your life. Let us know if you're ready to give this brave boy the steady forever home he’s waited so long to find.Note: SRGDRR adopts nationwide and offers transport options to help you find your perfect match!
