Story
Regina is one of the sweetest and smartest pups you will ever meet. She adores playing with toys of all types and when she is done she's all about the snuggles! Regina is happy and energetic and always eager to make new friends. She has started house training and crate training and is doing very well. She will need a family willing to continue obedience training as she grows and provide her with exercise and plenty of love! Regina has started on her puppy shots, has received two rounds of dewormer, been microchipped and started on heartworm prevention.  If Regina sounds like the perfect fit for your family, please e-mail us at arsw@arcticrescue.com *Please note, usually we work with high energy arctic breeds such as Huskies and Malamutes. We are assisting with placement of these puppies. Our adoption application may have questions that do not seem to apply to these mixed breed puppies. If you are applying for one of our Doberman Mix puppies, please still answer all questions to the best of your ability. January 2, 2026, 8:10 pm

Story
Petty, aka "Max" is a lovable young senior dog looking for a retired or work-at-home human/family to share the rest of his life with. He has been three-legged since aged two, has learned to adapt all his daily activities, and travels very well. After 3 months in foster care, Max has learned to play with other dogs! He still has limitations, but he loves to roll on the ground to gently wrestle with his foster siblings. Daily walking has given him additional strength in his legs. He can climb and run with the best of them. He can still slip if not careful, and he is not a fan of very cold weather. He has to be coaxed out the door or just walked on leash in sleet or cold rain. Temperatures above 50 will get him outdoors in any kind of weather. Max is such a social guy that he prefers to be with his humans or dogs rather than alone. He does not chew on anything but food, and is highly food motivated. He is also very human oriented, but followed the lead of his foster brother when he learned new house rules. He walks extremely well, but pulls on occasion when squirrels or rabbits are nearby. He walks fine with a Gentle Leader, but his gait is hopped, so his owner needs to be someone with good balance. He loves to be outdoors and walk on leash. A medium-sized fenced yard would be an additional bonus for this dog as he is an active and young senior.Having said that, Max would also be a wonderful companion dog and fellow couch potato at night. He seems to be much more Chocolate Lab than Red Doberman, with a strong lab lean, and would love to lie on the couch next to a human. He does not sit on laps, but would love to be on the bed sleeping next to his human. I would not expect him to break that habit easily (although he is trying). Max will also counter-surf if he can get away with it. Having lost his last owner, Max does have some minor anxiety issues over separation, and does not enjoy being crated. He is not destructive, though, and tolerates being confined to a room with music and his foster brother when the humans are gone from the house. He has no toileting issues doing his business outside, and sleeps very well at night. He knows many commands, and will give a bark when someone approaches the house or yard. He infrequently can give off an aura which can intimidate some less secure dogs, but really he is a loving goofball, and has done very well with dogs, kids and toddlers at the local Farmers' Market and adoption events. He loves meeting people! Max would love to have a stable home with an active adult/family to spend his senior years. He is very healthy, loves being groomed, and getting attention, affection, and slow but steady exercise. FOCCAS is a foster based, non-profit rescue in Crossville, TN. Story
Bingo is a sweet, goofy boy that needs some help getting out of his shell. He came to us very scared, not wanting to get out of his crate. I'm sure he has good reasons to not trust humans, so he will need time to decompress and understand he us safe in his new surroundings. He is such a good boy. He's playful & enjoys receiving love. 💖 ✅️crate trained ✅️potty trained ✅dog ️friendly ✅️people friendly

Story
This is truly a sweet youngster that has had a rough life. She was put on a neighbor watch social media as a “free Doberman puppy.” A sharp-eyed rescue angel (God bless their constant vigilance) picked her up and took her to the vet. She had a large gash on the side of her neck that required sutures. Unsurprisingly, she's also heartworm positive. Her face and ear show signs of another dog attacking her at some early part of her life. The ear is completely slit and pegged back towards her head, and various white marks show where she likely has been bitten. The rescue angel brought her to DRT where she is being treated for her heartworms as she awaits adoption to an actual loving home. As a reminder, heartworm treatment is both risky and expensive. When the worms die, fragments can break off and travel to the lungs, where they may block blood vessels and trigger dangerous blood clots. The clots can impair breathing and lead to sudden collapse or death. There’s no doubt that prevention is safer than treatment, but that having been said, once a dog has heartworms, there’s no option but to give it the medicine that kills the worms. It takes several weeks for the worm fragments to be broken down by the immune system and absorbed so they are no longer a risk. (A miracle in itself, I’d say.) Once that happens, the dog can resume normal activity, safe from further danger. In any case, in addition to the risk involved, the essential-to-life treatment is very expensive. If you would like to have a part in saving this dog’s life (and the lives of others who come in with heartworm), donations are very much needed, welcomed, and appreciated. At this point, she seems to be rather calm and willing to please. Lots has happened in her life over the last couple of weeks, so we're letting her get comfortable while she chills. Comments from the Rescue Angel: “She is very sweet, and prefers to just follow me around. She sleeps all night in a room by herself in a dog bed. I'm trying to get her to go into a large crate by me sitting in it and calling her with treats, but so far she won't walk into the crate.” Observations from our volunteers: “My first impression when I met Adeline was the obvious ‘What’s happened to this poor girl?’ Her chewed up ear, the stitches on her neck, and the obvious telltale marks from being bitten before were all evident. Then I sat down with her in the corral, and the next thing that came to mind was, ‘What a gentle soul this girl has!’ For the first ten seconds she was a bit shy, but that quickly disappeared, and she was between my legs waiting for me to caress her head and pet her sides. Whatever traumatic circumstances brought her to DRT haven’t affected her gentle nature. Every once in a while she’d go looking at whatever was happening outside the corral, but pretty quickly she came back for additional, well-deserved affection.” While we have no way of knowing what her early life was like, it’s obvious it was not to her advantage. Her sweet spirit remains intact, however, and she clearly will make a loving, Velcro companion to the family that chooses to make her part of their lives. If yours is a match, follow the standard sequence: apply, acceptance, appointment, arrive, acquaint, away. Lives will be blessed all around, if you do.

Story
Trooper is an amazing, highly intelligent dog. We adopted him from Guilford County Animal Shelter April 2023, and since then have 2 children, a new business which requires lots of travel, and overall busier schedule. He has a lot of energy, and needs more attention then we are able to give him. He knows just about every command and follows them well.
