Story
Meet Earl Jr. He is about 8 months old, cropped, docked, and about 60 lbs. (He requires a fully fenced yard, no e-fences). He has the perfect Doberman look and exactly what you'd expect from a rambunctious puppy. Earl is in his defiant, seeing what he can get away with phase, and it is not for the faint of heart. You are going to need a lot of patience as he just does not like to be told no. If you are looking to adopt a puppy, you may already know what you're in for; jumping, play-biting, counter surfing, rough play, and everything goes into his mouth. He wants all of your attention and he'll do what he has to to get it. Earl must be restrained in the car or he will jump from the back to the front seat for the entire trip. Earl is a sweet boy and has great potential, but to be his best self, he needs a lot of exercise, a couple of 20 minute walks each day is not going to cut it. He likes to play ball and is still working on the concept of dropping the ball so it can be thrown again. Your fenced in yard must be at least 6 feet as he can jump really high and will take off after a squirrel given the chance. Earl loves walks and does best with a training collar to keep him from pulling until he learns to walk nicely. He loves hiking, toys and chewing bones of all kinds. He is dog reactive but it doesn't seem to be aggression. He would definitely benefit from some socialization. Earl is food motivated which is great for training, not great for human mealtimes. He is crate trained and spends time in his crate when he is home alone and sleeps there at night. Like a toddler, he needs a forced time out to nap because he rarely stops moving. Earl was found as a stray, so nothing is known about his background, but someone taught him some basic commands. If you are willing to give Earl Jr your time and attention and really make an effort in training, he is going to make a great companion. He has a high prey drive so no cats as housemates. Earl is located in Virginia. DAR&E adopts to MD, VA, DC, DE, eastern parts of WV and southern parts of PA. Please check with other Doberman rescues in areas not listed.

Story
Meet Coco! She is a sweet, 9-year-old Blue Doberman. She loves to be anywhere and everywhere that you are! Coco is a healthy girl who weighs about 66 pounds and has a docked tail and natural ears. Coco also has a beautiful full coat of fur. Coco is house trained. She is not a fan of being crated so I have left her with run of the house when I am not home without incident. Coco will whine when I am gone so she would be happiest in a home where someone is around most of the time. Coco enjoys using her nose to explore our yard and loves taking walks in our woods and down our road. Coco may jump around and pull on the leash if she sees a cat or other small animal. Coco gets excited when she sees deer. She also loves to relax and lay in the sun when outside! https://youtu.be/Zcscqwxr1EE?si=Lvbu2x4QHIopaVKA Coco enjoys nibbling on a couple of her favorite plush toys and will usually have one or two with her most of the time. She does like to sleep in our bed, but she tends to stay in her spot and isn’t a bed hog. She also likes to lay next to you on the couch. Coco likes meeting new people, including children, and enjoys getting the extra attention from them. Coco is dog reactive and will need a home without other dogs. Coco is not good with cats. Coco loves to take car rides and will keep watch out the windows for most of the ride. Coco goes with me to my office most mornings. We usually do not see any of my coworkers, but when we do, she enjoys meeting them. Coco is a well-mannered girl who allows me to Dremel her nails, bathe her, and wipe her feet when wet before coming inside the house. If you’re looking for an older, calmer Doberman than Coco would be a great companion for you. She is currently located in Virginia. DAR&E adopts to MD, VA, DC, DE, eastern parts of WV and southern parts of PA. Please check with other Doberman rescues in areas not listed.

Story
Max is a 3 year old, black and rust, natural eared, docked, doberboy. Max has to be one of the sweetest Dobermans we have ever fostered and has the Doberman personality down to a science. His doberlean is spot on, he believes in second breakfast, has to be constantly with his humans (which means you never have to use the bathroom alone again), feels that your only job in life is to pet him and tell him he's a handsome boy, and has a fear that all his sweetness will melt in the rain. We have yet to meet a person that Max has not liked, and he's met people of all ages. My husband took him to work and instantly charmed the office and showed them all what a love bug he is and was an awesome Doberman breed ambassador. He loves our teenage son and will actively seek him out to make sure he is okay. Max seems genuinely perplexed that not all people want to meet him and pet him. Max is house trained and during the day when we are at work, he spends his time in an ex pen and typically will sleep most of the time. Max has the perfect amount of energy for his age and walks and/or playtime along with his version of fetch has him sleeping right through the night on his dog bed in our bedroom. We currently do not have a dog of our own, however, he lived with several dogs in his previous home that ranged from medium to large size dogs and he loved to play with them. He did live with a cat in his previous home but liked to chase the cat. Max knows the command sit and he knows to sit for his food (although the wait command is still a work in progress). He is very treat motivated which will make training a bit easier. We have also been working with him on waiting to go out the front door, on leash, until we say ok. He's picked up on that very quickly. He's also a quick learner with our treat puzzles and has been able to figure them out quicker than most of the other dogs we have had. Max is a great car rider and once the car ride begins he will happily lay down for the duration of the ride. The one area where Max will need the most work is his leash manners. There is no way to accurately describe Max and his goofy, loving self. Please come out to see for yourself what a treasure he is. Max is waiting for you! He is currently located in Maryland. DAR&E adopts to MD, VA, DC, DE, eastern parts of WV and southern parts of PA. Please check with other Doberman rescues in areas not listed.

Story
Visit https://www.wtarescue.com/adoption-process-2 to learn about our adoption process! Sweet Charlotte is looking for her forever home. She loves to give kisses and will sit in your lap all day long if you let her. She’s good with other dogs and has gotten along fabulously with her resident dog brother, Charlie, and kitty sister, Taz. She’s got lots of energy and loves to run around the yard and play. She’s great with walking on a leash and would be a great companion for someone who likes to take walks or has kids to play with. She knows sit and stay, and she’s almost mastered potty training and uses puppy pads. Her foster mom lets her out in the yard on a regular basis to potty and play. She’s good with a crate as her safe place and when it’s time to rest, but the snuggle bug in her prefers to sleep with her foster mom at night. She loves treats during training sessions and when it’s time to eat! She’s also still trying to get the hang of riding in the car as sometimes she gets a little car sick. Please consider making her a new member of your family. Mandatory in person transfer date: March 2nd at the Petsmart in Tysons Corner between 11:00 AM-12:00 PM. All adopters must attend in order to finalize the adoption. ##1917252##

Story
We adopted Saide about 8 years ago, she is a loving dog, who needs a place to run and exercise. Her favorite place is her kennel, she will crawl in there and cover up with her favorite blanket. She has her own recliner which sits by the window and she likes to look outside on pretty days. She is completely house-trained and has never had an accident in the house since we have had her. She is leash-trained and loves walks. We need to rehome her because we are finding ourselves having less and less time to spend with her. She comes complete with her kennel, bed, blanket, food, bowls, treats, and recliner. Please email me with any questions you may have.
