Story
Meet Zena, a happy and sweet, 6-and-a-half-year-old, black & tan female Doberman. She is just a little girl at 60 pounds. She has naturally floppy ears and a docked tail. She is a smart and loving girl who quickly acclimatized to her foster home. She loves to follow you around and wait for her pets like the true velcro dog that she is. Zena is looking for a couch potato lifestyle. She likes to curl up beside you when watching TV so she can be near you. At night she sleeps on a dog bed on the floor next to the bed. She is a happy girl who can be left at home alone with run of the house. She doesn’t need a crate but will go into a crate if needed and sometimes on her own. She doesn’t take or destroy things around the house that don’t belong to her. She’s not destructive – not even with her toys. She’s not a big fan of toys but will pull one out of the box every so often. When she is home alone, she spends most of her time sleeping on one of her beds or on her favorite spot on the couch. She has been known to do some whining when first left alone but quickly quiets down. She is most happy when her people get home though. Zena knows “sit” and “down” and is working on “come”. She is house-trained and waits patiently for meals. She is very relaxed when eating and eats slowly. Zena is an angel when riding in the car. She takes turns sitting and laying down and is well behaved by herself in the back seat. Zena has Wobbler's Disease which you can see with her notable gait when walking, which means she will need a low impact lifestyle. Zena has plenty of years left in her life, but will be impacted by this diagnosis. That doesn't mean she can't live a full life. Zena LOVES to use her nose outside. She will track all through the yard smelling where the squirrels and other small animals have been. She likes taking short walks and walks well on the leash. Her diagnosis though does mean that she can't play rough with other dogs, so if you have a dog, an older or less rough-playing dog would be her best companion. A low impact lifestyle means - minimized jumping, minimized stairs, shorter walks, and using a harness rather than a neck collar. Zena is happily awaiting her forever home and is currently being fostered in Virginia. DAR&E adopts to MD, VA, DC, DE, eastern parts of WV and southern parts of PA. Story
Shadow lives up to his name—you won’t take a step without him right by your side. This loyal, affectionate boy is the ultimate companion, always ready to follow his person wherever life leads. He’s incredibly cuddly and has fully embraced his role as a “lap dog,” despite his longer legs—if there’s a way to climb onto you for snuggles, he’ll find it! Shadow is estimated to be 1 1/2 years old. He's approximately 70 pounds, black & tan, with natural ears and a docked tail. Shadow has a playful, slightly mischievous side when left to his own devices, but he understands the household rules and settles nicely in his crate when needed. He also takes his job as neighborhood watch very seriously, keeping a close eye on everything happening outside. He’s still filling out his frame, but don’t let that fool you—this energetic pup loves to run, stretch his legs, and enjoy the outdoors. He has great recall and is very smart, especially when treats are involved! Shadow already knows several commands like sit, down, shake, speak, and come, and he’s eager to keep learning. When it comes to other animals, Shadow is unfazed by cats but can be selective with other dogs. And squirrels? Let’s just say they are his ultimate weakness—so a secure or controlled outdoor space is a must. Car rides are one of his favorite things—whether he’s happily sticking his head out the window or resting it on your shoulder from the back seat, he’s just happy to be along for the ride. At the end of the day, Shadow is all about comfort and connection. He loves long walks just as much as cozy couch time, and when bedtime rolls around, he’ll happily tuck himself under a blanket and sleep soundly through the night. Shadow will thrive in a loving, active home that can give him both adventure and affection. One look into his soulful eyes, and you’ll understand—this sweet boy is ready to be someone’s shadow forever. Shadow is fostered in Virginia. 🐾 DAR&E adopts to MD, VA, DC, DE, eastern parts of WV and southern parts of PA. Please check with other Doberman rescues in areas not listed.

Story
Grace is a sweet dog who loves affection and human interaction. She belongs to my Sister who is elderly and broke her hip 3 months ago. She is still using a walker and has also moved out of her home and into an adult living apartment. She is broken hearted but realizes she can no longer walk Grace or take care of her in her tiny apartment. Sister also has other health issues that prevent her independence and ability to care for her beloved baby.Grace loves to go on walks and to be outside with her human. She also loves ear rubs and affection. She has been spoiled by love!Grace is house broken. She is treated twice a day with insulin for diabetes and takes pills twice a day for allergies. She is 84 pounds. She’s a trooper and has been through many changes recently.I cannot keep Grace for much longer. I am never home and travel on weekends. Not fair for this sweetheart dog.If you can help, please reply.Thank you!

They were very sick initially but are very healthy now. Blair is a gentle little girl, but does love to run and play with other dogs. She has done amazing with her house and crate training. She is so deserving of a wonderful home to call her own. She is fostered in East TN, but transportation is included in the adoption fee and provided by Rescue Riders LLC.
