Story
Meet Rhett! This striking blue and amber eyed boy is a sensitive soul; his time in the shelter didn’t break his soft heart, he’s very close and cuddly with his person and he likes to meet new friends. Rhett LOVES to snuggle. He’s presently living in harmony with another dog and cat in his foster home, he doesn’t pay much mind to the cat at all and he likes to play with his doggy friend occasionally but calms down easily. Rhett hasn’t had any formal training but he’s getting better on a leash, knows how to lay down, and he comes when he’s called (if you can get him to leave your side in the first place). He’s extremely treat motivated so he should do well with someone patient that’s willing to work on obedience training with him. He’s a very quiet boy, even when his foster sister is barking her face off at passers by Rhett doesn’t make a peep, he just quietly watches the action. We think he might be a greyhound mix but that’s just a guess. Rhett was in the shelter for a while so he has a few nervous self-soothing habits, most notably he slowly pets himself to sleep, and he has worried the hair around his waist although that seems to be subsiding now that he has a more stable environment. Rhett will do well with someone patient that’s willing to help him learn new skills and loves a close cuddle bug.

Darla is good with most dogs, and will be totally devoted to her person. She is a gem and whomever adopts her will be very lucky. She weighs about 69 lbs. Please email for an application.

Story
MEET BLITZ, an 85-lb stunning Doberman male who is waiting for his forever home. Blitz is a large Dobie, almost 2 years old. He is a dark red, almost chocolate color and is magnificent in appearance. Blitz is currently in training in the Los Angeles area to overcome some fears and quirks he has had in the past. He is affectionate with people he knows but in the past was tense and suspicious with strangers, especially if he is in a confined space. He can also be a bit stubborn, though his training is helping tremendously. Blitz gets along great with other dogs-- he has previously lived happily with a female Doberman in his foster home. Because of his size and strength, a home without small children is mandatory. Blitz has high energy and would benefit from having a yard, where he can run and play. Blitz is also hypo-thyroid so is on inexpensive thyroid medication, which will likely be forever. We believe Blitz is of European ancestry and like all Euro-Dobies, he has heavier bones and a larger head than the more petite American Dobies. Blitz is without question a lot of dog! But he is a lot of really good dog. Doberman or large-dog experience is a must for his adoption. Please email for an application.

Story
Freya is such an engaging and energetic pup! She is always ready to play and will follow you around the house, eager to join in on whatever youre doing. She is a big girl so the size of her current home is too small and low-energy. We hope she goes to a home with lots of space, engaging owners, and ample stimulation. Perhaps someone she can be a lap dog to! Lately, because of the anxiety of her living situation, she has developed a skin picking habit and she licks anything on her coat out of the fur. This makes it difficult to apply and keep oils on her skin, such as flea preventative. With attention, care, and patience, this habit does clear up. Overall, though, she is very friendly! She adjusts quickly to strangers, loves rowdy kids, plays with the cat, and greets everyone with a big tail wag! Freya is not a dominant dog and doesn't get aggressive. She prefers to lay down when other dogs come by to make herself smaller, as well. She just wants to fit in as your new best friend!

We do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Zephyr, also known as Zee, is an 8 year old neutered male Doberman Pinscher weighing in at 75lbs. He iscurrently being fostered in Houston, TX and can be transported out of state once an approved adopter is lined up! Zee is a sweet, affectionate boy who absolutely adores people of all ages. He has been wonderful with children, neighborhood kids, and even elderly family members, showing a gentle, intuitive nature as if he knows when to be extra careful. Though he can be shy at first, once he warms up his goofy personality shines through—he’ll hop like a bunny when he’s excited, soak up every bit of affection, and happily cuddle up next to you or sleep by your side at night. Zee loves outings with his humans too, whether it’s a car ride, a trip for ice cream, or hanging out with friends—he’s happiest when he’s included and getting attention. Zee has a moderate energy level and is an easy going guy. He enjoys playing tug, fetch (even if he doesn’t always bring the ball back!), and romping around the yard. He’s fully house trained, can be left alone with full run of the house without any issues, and is not destructive. Zee walks on a leash with a harness and is still working on pulling, especially when he spots squirrels, cats, or dogs, but he’s improving with consistency. He is happy to hang out with his bone if his humans are busy! Zee would thrive best as the only pet in the home. He does not do well with other dogs and has a high prey drive with cats, so a single-pet household is ideal. That said, he makes up for it by being incredibly loving, loyal, and people-focused. Some of his cutest quirks include chasing dragonflies like a Disney princess, stealing socks just for attention, and “goosing” you if he feels ignored—he clearly finds it hilarious. He is truly a gentle soul looking for a home where he can be someone’s one and only, and he will return that love tenfold. 🐾 If you are interested in adding Zephyr into your family, please fill out the adoption application below! https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DDAR/Dog ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. ***
