You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.May 7, 2025:  Princess has been in her foster home since December.  She enjoyed the MN snow and now absolutely loves playing in the sprinkler.  She likes chasing balls and frisbees, but she can get a bit bossy about wanting all the toys. In January she attended an obedience training center.  Currently she is working on Sit - Stay waiting to be released before going downstairs for breakfast or dinner.  Then she Sits until she hears Okay before eating. While she continues to get along with her foster dog siblings, her dog bff, Maisey, and two other huskies who frequently visit, she is still selective about choosing doggie friends. Princess has a very intense personality and wants to be dominant.  Not all dogs accept that behavior.  When she is corrected by her dog friends, she takes it well, but she has known them for five months.  Ideally, a new dog friend would be one that just ignores her and is confident/level headed.  If Princess is adopted into a family with dogs, having an adoptive parent familiar with introducing a new dog into the existing family pack would be very helpful. She loves meeting people, and does well with bigger children.  She can be jumpy and is still learning her manners when she is excited - a part of her ongoing training. An outdoorsy, active family with a fenced yard would be fabulous. She loves playing in the yard and going on walks.  She will gladly walk or run on a treadmill too. She has a high prey drive for squirrels and rabbits.  Her foster is in the process of scheduling a test for her reaction to cats. She is an amazing and beautful dog.  We wish to place her with a family experienced with larger, energetic dogs. She loves walks and sniffing and seeing everything she can and she does her happy orange out in the great outdoors. She hunts like a daschund and would always protect you from lizards and small creatures. Cass has some fear of strangers and puts up a protective front, but for those who have the patience to earn her trust she is a loyal friend. Cass needs a home with experience with dogs who take longer to warm up. She needs and is looking for someone with the kindness and willingness to help this girl move from shelter to life to what it means to have the love of a family. Could that person be you? You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Polly has gone from skittish to playful and continues to feel more confident every day. She loves to explore and always does it with an excited skip to her step. Chasing lizards is also a great pastime. Walks are very enjoyable as she is very easy and ready to walk with people. She is learning she likes pets behind her ear and on her belly. Polly has a lot of love to give to someone willing to have patience and give her the chance to give it. She is a pretty, intelligent, and sweet dog. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.April 14, 2025:  Bear had a great time at the beach.  You can dress him up and take him anywhere.  What a sweetie of a pittie. March 27, 2025:  Bear is doing well after his heartworm injections.  Every tech at the vet office stops to pet him.  He is so very popular.  Will be cat tested soon. March 17, 2025:  New photos of this big guy are posted.  What a hunk!  From barely able to walk to doubling his weight, Bear is doing exceptionally well.   He is a gentle giant.  March 11, 2025:  Bear is available for adoption.  He is looking to meet people and make friends.  He is a real flirt. Feb 28, 2025: Just look at his progress and Bear has begun his heartworm treatment! It is time for some calm confinement to let this treatment work its magic. Feb 13, 2025: Bear is neutered. Jan 27, 2025:  Bear is putting on weight and doing great.    He is fully vaccinated now and weighs 45 lbs. Jan 17, 2025:  Bear went to Foster in PR.  Jan 13, 2025 Bear had a bath today and continues to improve. He is your shadow in the house. Please contact SAF PR or complete our Foster Application. Jan 6, 2025:  Bear has come a long way and is seeking a foster home on island to help preserve his progress.  He is a cuddle bug and really enjoys sitting outside in the sun.  He is leash trained and will sit for his meals and treats. We are working on crate training.  Due to his previous suspected confinement, he still trips sometimes when walking.  He is dog friendly but has not been fully tested with cats.  Dec 2024: Bear is gaining weight, healing and doing so much better.  We can’t wait to see him at his prime!
