Story
Salvador is one of the countless doggies that was found roaming the island of Puerto Rico. This boy got into something and contracted botulism. When found he was completely paralyzed and near death. Luckily we got him the care he needed and he fully recovered. During recovery Salvador contracted distemper. Talk about a 1, 2 punch. Again, he fought off the disease and recovered. Despite such a horrific beginning in our care Sal has flourished and is ready to join a forever home where he can be the pampered boy he deserves. Sal is 5 years old and weighs 36 lbs. He is healthy and a very happy boy. He loves playing with other dogs and will flourish in a home with or without older kids. Sal is neutered, microchipped, up to date on all vaccines and on heartworm and flea and tick preventatives. Once adopted, we will fly him to Newark, NJ and his adopter will meet him there to pick up and take him home that day. PLEASE NOTE: You will be picking up in NEWARK, NJ. If you are interested in saving our boy please fill out an appliction and we will reach out to chat. https://www.theluvingpawsfoundation.org/adoption-application

Story
Meet Tania Tania is 2 years old and weighs about 45 lbs. she is the sweetest girl and deserves the best home. Tania was rescued in the parking lot of a grocery store when one of our followers was putting her groceries in her car. Tonya saw her opportunity and jumped in the backseat and refused to get out. She rescued herself. That is one smart pupper! We were called and how could we say no? Good job Tania . Tania brings joy wherever she goes. She is just the happiest girl. She is presently in Puerto Rico. Once adopted, we will fly her to Newark, NJ for pick up. We can help with transport sometimes but love an adopter willing to pick up. She is 100% worth the drive. Tania is spayed, microchipped, and fully vaccinated. If you are interested in adopting Tonya please fill out an application and we will reach out to chat. https://www.theluvingpawsfoundation.org/adoption-application

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.February 2026: Polly is happy tail wagging girl who is ready for her forever home.  She is about 8 years old and weighs 25 pounds.   She is a sweetheart with a playful spirit and a loving heart.  She's more active than most senior dogs and absolutely loves people.   Polly has gone from skittish to playful and continues to feel more confident every day. She loves to explore and always does it with an excited skip to her step. Chasing lizards is also a great pastime. Walks are very enjoyable as she is very easy and ready to walk with people. She likes pets behind her ear and on her belly. Polly has a lot of love to give to someone willing to have patience and give her the chance to give it. She is a pretty, intelligent, and sweet dog. She would be okay with other dogs with after a proper introduction. Polly has spent many years in the Shelter waiting for her chance. Now it's her turn to experience life in a real home. Polly is cared for at the Shelter, sharing a room with her sister Cassandra. All the Shelter dogs get a walk and are fed both in the morning and the afternoon. Because of her limited walks, she is not quite housebroken. However, we believe that with more daily walks or access to a backyard, she would be quickly housebroken. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.April 24, 2026 Snickers is now in Foster in Colorado.  We think he will like snow as much as he loves the sand at the beach.  February 2026:  Snickers is a 3-year old active, playful and strong boy.  He walks beautifully on a leash and loves the beach.  (See his video.)  He gets along well with other dogs and had helped new dogs feel safe and comfortable when he was at the Shelter.   He loves to snuggle and is crate trained.  He is gentle with people and when taking treats.  He learns quickly.  Snickers was shown at the Safe A Friend Luquillo Farmers Market booth recently and he was a really good boy on his outing.  He was fine with other dogs, with people and families with children walking by.  He paid no attention to the chickens and roosters in the park.  However, we do not recommend a home with cats unless you are willing to train him not to chase.  We also do not recommend a household with children under 10 years old.  Snickers is neutered and weighs in at 45 lbs.  He is housebroken and never soiled his room at the Shelter even with only 2 walks a day.   Snickers is out of the Shelter now and living with a Foster in PR.  He's full of joy and ready to bring love and energy to his forever home.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 20, 2026, 2:57 pm
