True to his breed, Travis is loyal, observant, and deeply connected to his people. SKY is fostered in Columbia County, NYSKY, a spirited, hugely affectionate, bright and loving Dogo Argentino, was born deaf, purchased, and then left at a Bedford, NY shelter at only 16-months-old. She endured three months of neglect and mistreatment in that facility, whose owner was arrested and charged with multiple counts of animal cruelty. A resilient creature who is unbridled joy and loyal companionship, SKY, has put all of that behind her! SKY turned 3 years old on Jan. 28. She is 85 lbs. , spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated. She communicates perfectly fine via hand signs and her innate connection to humans. SKY is typically playful with other dogs when introduced in one-on-one meet and greets with friendly, non-reactive dogs. Though her prey drive is more curiosity than hunt (she is fascinated by mice and rabbits and has befriend an opossum on our farm!!), cats will be stressful for her as she’s acclimating to a new home. While SKY is polite and appropriate with kids, but will need a few months to create familiarity in the environment. Applicants should consider if they have time to prioritize her and meet her needs, as well as the needs of young family members. SKY loves car rides, meeting new homes, vet visits (!) and lounging next to you on the couch. She is an active dog and will need a dog savvy home. SKY is fostered in Columbia County, NY. Meet Mac – A Loyal Guardian Looking for the Right Home Mac is a 6-month-old Dogo Argentino with a big heart and an even bigger future. He currently weighs 65 pounds and is expected to grow to at least 100 pounds, potentially reaching 140 pounds at maturity. The Dogo Argentino is a powerful, purpose-bred working dog developed from the Córdoba Fighting Dog, Great Dane, Spanish Mastiff, Pyrenean Mastiff, and Dogue de Bordeaux. This is not a breed for first-time dog owners. Dogos were bred to protect humans and hunt wild boar, and they require confident, experienced handling. Mac is seeking an adult-only home with proven experience in protection or guardian breeds, such as Mastiffs, Boerboels, Cane Corsos, or similar. Despite their strength, Dogos are known for being: • Extremely loyal • Loving and people-oriented • Intelligent and stubborn • High prey drive Mac is currently at a critical developmental stage and will need a handler who provides clear structure, strict boundaries, and consistency. For this reason, Mac must be enrolled in a structured training program prior to adoption. What Mac Already Knows: • Crate trained • Housebroken • Living successfully with 7 other dogs • Foster is actively working on: • Basket muzzle training • Leash walking • Basic obedience (place, sit, stay) Mac is not particularly food motivated and is currently being hand-fed to help build engagement and motivation during training. His adopter must be willing to continue this work and invest time into his development. While Mac is currently social with other dogs, it is a breed trait for Dogos to sometimes become dog-selective as they mature. If placed with another dog, he would do best with a female companion.
