Story
**HEARING IMPAIRED**Meet Kurtis! He is a 2 yr old male neutered Argentine Dog mix that weighs 74lbs He came into the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 4/5 as a stray. Sweet Kurtis you can tell hasn't had the best life so far. He is underweight and appears to have lived outside as seen by scrapes and cuts on his arms. Despite his past, he is optimistic about his future. And Kurtis has a super power that makes him extra special...he is deaf. We will care for him til he finds his loving forever home. When I told him this, he had the biggest smile on his face. He may not be able to hear me say that, but by the care, affection we have shown him, he knows we will. He is a very handsome boy that walks ok on a leash, tho he pulls a bit, and takes treats gently. He walked up our stand in the yard, and raised his head up to enjoy the sunshine on his face. He doesn't appear to know any hand signals, but he would love to learn. Kurtis hopes to find his own loving family soon so he can enjoy his own secured yard to investigate and run in, but live indoors with his human companions. Tho he didn't show any interest in the other dogs in the bay, if you do have another dog in the home please be sure to ask the shelter for a dog test. If you can provide him with the special care he needs, help him learn hand signals, then he is the right pup for you!

Story
Hi there, I'm Lucy! I am a approximately 2-year-old Dogo Argentino who weighs 52lbs. I was surrendered to the shelter on 03/01/2024 because my owner could no longer care for me. Now, I am hoping to find my new FURever home! I am a little timid at first but very sweet once I warm up to you. I am shy until I get to know you and LOVE a snuggly bed. I have made some friends since coming to the shelter but prefer my friends to be calm and mellow. A meet and greet is suggested if you have other dogs in the home to make sure we get along. My adoption fee is $125. I am spayed, microchipped, and up to date on my basic yearly boosters. I did test positive for heartworms, however, thanks to Rockwall PAWS, I am able to receive treatment for little to no cost to my adopter. If you have any questions about heartworms or heartworm treatment, please contact RAC by phone or email. If you are interested in making me part of your family, please submit an adoption application for me at https://rockwalladoptions.com/adoptfoster/adoption-application/.  All animals, unless otherwise noted in their description, are at 1825 Airport Rd. in Rockwall, TX. Hours of operation are Monday-Friday 9 am to 6 pm and Saturdays 9 am to 5 pm. For questions, please call 972-771-7750 ext. 2 or email info@RockwallAdoptions.com. IMPORTANT NOTICE: All shelter animals are required by Texas state law to be spayed/neutered. RAC completes this procedure at the age of 12 weeks. If you are adopting a pet under the age of 12 weeks or an animal that has not yet been spayed or neutered, you will be required to return the pet to our facility on the agreed upon date set at the time of adoption. This policy is non-negotiable and violation of this health code is a criminal offense. May 10, 2024, 3:36 am

My name is Guillermo, and I am a gentle giant. Being so big does not stop me from wanting to cuddle in your lap. I love spending time outside almost as much as I love having a big comfy bed to relax on after a long day of exploring. I love belly scratches but back scratches are my favorite. If you can find my sweet spot you will be my best friend of all time, here's a hint, everywhere is my sweet spot! Consider bringing me home to love!

Story
Hello! This is Dodge! Now don't let his cropped ears deceive you. He is one of the sweetest babies you will ever meet. Dodge is a really sweet dog. He loves snuggling up really close and napping with you. Dodge loves to play fetch and loves running around at the speed of a bullet. He also loves a good treat here and there too. He tends to get along with FRIENDLY and or relaxed dogs. NOT AGGRESSIVE DOGS. We also have cats but he has not met them and probably never will. So PLEASE be aware of that. I cannot stress enough about how much I hope he goes to a good, LOVING home. He's a really good dog and I am sad that he has to go. So I pray that someone who will give him the home he deserves contacts me! Adoption Fee: $70

Story
Malek is a very distinguished and substantial looking young man, and sweet as a teddy bear. He has not been in rescue for very long, so we are still getting to know him, but one thing is clear: he is a sweetheart. He definitely commands attention with his looks, yet is a total cuddle bug. He seems to like all the other dogs at the rescue, does well on a leash and loves to go for walks. You have to meet him to get the full impact! Our Furry Friendz are available for adoption through a screening process which includes but is not limited to: a completed application, 3 referrals, a home visit, and a vet referral prior to their furever home placement. Story
Angel almost did not make it in this world when she and her siblings were discarded like yesterday's trash for a garbage truck to pick them up. Thankfully, a human angel came along and rescued this little Angel and her family. She now enjoys life in her rescuer's foster care, but really wants a home of her own. Foster Mom says Angel is super smart, very playful and funny and loves not only her siblings, but also the other dogs and a cat in the house. She is almost potty trained, crate trained and working very hard on leash training. Please add her to your family!
