Story
Meet Tassels: A Gentle Giant with a Heart of Gold Introducing Tassels, also lovingly called Mumma by her fosters, a majestic 1.5-year-old Mastiff/Mountain Cur mix whose journey to happiness is truly inspiring. Rescued from a life of uncertainty while extremely pregnant and terrified, Tassels has shown incredible resilience. She was elusive for over a year, only seen on a Ring camera in the Detroit neighborhood she roamed, until we finally secured her safety. Since then, she has blossomed in foster care, watching her babies find their forever homes. Now, it's her turn! Why Tassels is Special: Loving and Affectionate: Tassels expresses her love by placing her massive head in your lap or under your hand for scratches. Her affectionate nature makes her a wonderful companion. Well-Trained and Mannered: She knows basic commands, is potty trained, crate trained, and walks beautifully on a leash. Playful and Joyful: Despite her size, Tassels is playful and enjoys the simple pleasures of cuddling, playing with toys, and lounging in the grass on sunny days. Her zoomies are a sight to behold and bring laughter and joy to everyone around her. Curious and Easygoing: Over the months, Tassels has overcome her initial shyness and now approaches life with curiosity and ease. She’s come to enjoy her interactions with people and her foster sibling. Tassels’ Ideal Home: Tassels would thrive in a home without cats or small dogs. She can live with another dog, but a proper, slow introduction is necessary to ensure a harmonious relationship. Her ideal family will be one that can provide stability, plenty of space for her to stretch her legs, and lots of love. She responds wonderfully to food, affection, and praise, making her a delightful and grateful companion. Is Tassels the Missing Piece in Your Family? If you’re looking for a loyal, loving, and serene companion to add warmth and joy to your home, consider welcoming Tassels into your life. She promises to fill your days with affection and happiness. Ready to adopt Tassels? Apply today! Visit our website to fill out an adoption application and learn more about how you can bring Tassels home! Adoption is $275, which includes spay/neuter at our vet, vaccines, dewormer, microchip, and clean bill of health. Although we work to potty train all of our dogs, we cannot guarantee full house training before adoption. Regression is a normal part of transitioning to a new home and we want our adopters to be prepared for that! APPLY on our WEBSITE: rebeldogsdetroit.com/applytoadopt

Story
Meet Dandelion – A Survivor Ready to Bloom When Dandelion first came to us, she was a shadow of the dog she was meant to be—emaciated, nearly hairless, and completely shut down. Whatever her past held, it had left deep marks. But Dandelion didn’t give up. And with time, patience, and love, she’s begun to bloom into the gentle, resilient soul she truly is. Today, Dandelion is soft and steady, with a calm presence and a heart full of quiet hope. She’s house trained, crate trained (though she doesn’t need to be crated when left alone), and knows several commands like sit, down, and back up. She’s currently working on “stay” and “drop it” and learns quickly—especially when treats and praise are involved. She loves backyard zoomies and a good game of fetch, but she’s just as content to curl up nearby and soak up your affection. With other dogs, she can be selective and would do best either as your one and only, or with a calm, compatible companion after a proper introduction. Because of her past, she’d thrive in a home with older children who can respect her boundaries and help her continue to feel safe. What Dandelion wants most isn’t much: a yard to run in, a routine she can rely on, and someone who sees her for the brave, beautiful soul she is. After everything she’s endured, Dandelion is finally ready for a new chapter. One filled with kindness, consistency, and love. Could you be the one to show her what forever feels like? Apply today to foster or adopt Dandelion—and give this incredible girl the new beginning she’s waited so long for. Adoption is $275, which includes spay/neuter at our vet, vaccines, dewormer, microchip, and clean bill of health. Although we work to potty train all of our dogs, we cannot guarantee full house training before adoption. Regression is a normal part of transitioning to a new home. Story
Meet Yak – A Gentle Giant Whose Heart Has Been Waiting Far Too Long For two long years, Yak has watched other dogs come and go—each one leaving the shelter behind, while he remains. Despite being one of the most beloved dogs in the entire shelter, Yak has only received a handful of applications. Each time, hope bloomed… only to be crushed by silence or rejection. And still, he waits. Yak is a roughly 3-year-old Mastiff mix with a body built for power and a heart made for love. He’s big, goofy, loyal, and affectionate—a total baby in the body of an athlete. The staff and volunteers can’t say enough about him. He’s truly everyone’s favorite, not just because of his stunning looks, but because of the deep sweetness that radiates from him once he feels safe. What Yak needs isn’t much—but it’s everything to him. He’s looking for a foster or foster-to-adopt home where he can finally exhale. A peaceful place with one or two committed adults who understand large dogs and are ready to give him the structure, patience, and unconditional love he deserves. Right now, Yak does best as the only pet, but with time and trust, he may be able to welcome another dog—or even children—into his world. Yak is not just another shelter dog. He is a soul who has waited far too long for someone to see him and say, “You’re mine.” He deserves better than a kennel. He deserves a couch, a backyard, a warm hand on his head, and a forever home where he can finally rest. Please—be the one who gives Yak the life he’s been waiting for. Apply to meet him today. Let’s finally get this boy home. Adoption is $275, which includes spay/neuter at our vet, vaccines, dewormer, microchip, and clean bill of health. Although we work to potty train all of our dogs, we cannot guarantee full house training before adoption. Regression is a normal part of transitioning to a new home.
