Story
Meet Nocturne 🖤Nocturne is a very large, very fluffy black cat with a presence that fills a room even when he’s trying to fade into the background. He’s around 1–2 years old and still pretty scared here at the shelter, but each day he’s beginning to let his guard down and show us who he really is.His story is a tough one. When his former owner moved to Florida, Nocturne was left behind. Through no fault of his own, his whole world changed.Right now, Nocturne is learning that hands can be gentle and people can be kind. He has started allowing soft, careful pets, which is a huge step for a cat who’s still rebuilding trust. He may hiss when he’s unsure, but it’s all talk. He is truly all hiss and no bite, just a nervous guy trying to feel safe again.Nocturne is fully declawed, which simply means he will need to be an indoor-only cat for life and have an owner who’s attentive to his comfort as he grows older. He currently has no medical issues at all, but like many cats, he’ll benefit from a home that’s observant, patient, and committed to meeting his needs long-term especially as he ages since declawed cats are prone to arthritis complications later in life. He previously lived with other cats and should integrate well with feline friends given proper, slow introductions. We don’t think he would be happy in a home with dogs or young children. What Nocturne really needs is a quiet, low-traffic home where he can settle in at his own pace and decide when he’s ready to be brave. This isn’t an instant-gratification kind of cat. This is a “watch him slowly come into his own” kind of bond. If you believe the best relationships are built on patience and trust, Nocturne might be the one you’ve been waiting for.A calm home. Gentle understanding. A forever commitment.Nocturne is ready when you are. 🖤His adoption fee is $75 and he will come neutered, current on vaccines, FIV/FeLV tested negative, and
