From available research, progressively infected FeLV+ cats often live between 2-6 years after diagnosis if they were diagnosed as adults, and 6 months-2 years after diagnosis if they were diagnosed as kittens. FeLV is a feline-only virus that cannot be transmitted to humans. Cats who test positive for FeLV can live for many years without serious symptoms.
