Story
`Dolly is a bright and energetic sweetheart. She`s very quiet and has only spoken up once to protest her claws being trimmed. It`s so entertaining as watching her zoom around in a blur of black and white, tackling every toy in sight! Dolly is cautious with new animals at first, but quickly warms up after a meeting or two. She`s super gentle with toddlers and humans in general; you can barely feel it when she paws at you. While she`s generally social and playful, Dolly also likes her space so a quiet little corner for her to relax and nap is a must. Dolly would be best suited for a social household with lots of ways to get her energy out (like a lot of climbing spaces, toys, someone to play with her whether it be other pets and/or humans, etc). She will lay beside you or on your lap for some cuddle time and she loves to sleep at the end of the bed at night. Dolly is also VERY food motivated; treats are her favorite thing! This precious, curious little girl will absolutely capture anyone`s heart!` Apply today to meet this sweet girl!

Story
Ophelia has had a hard road, but she’s shown us just how much sweetness was hiding underneath all that fear. When she first arrived at the shelter, she was scared, stressed and unsure whether she could trust the people around her. We knew she needed a quieter environment and some time to decompress, so Ophelia headed to a foster home. Little by little, she began to open up. As she’s grown more comfortable, we’ve gotten to see the sweet girl underneath. Ophelia enjoys gentle pets, playing with her toys, and spending time birdwatching from the window. She may not be the type of cat who immediately runs up to greet a new person, but with patience and kindness, she continues to show just how far she can come. Ophelia is looking for a patient adopter who will give her the time and space she needs to settle in at her own pace. A relatively calm home would be the best fit for her as she continues building her confidence and learning that she is safe and loved. We may never know exactly what Ophelia’s life looked like before she came to us, but we do know what we want her future to look like: a safe, loving forever home where she can continue to grow, trust, and blossom. If you are interested in learning more about Ophelia, please call 812-988-7362 or submit an adoption application at the link below. After the application is received, an adoption counselor can reach out to you directly. https://www.bchumane.org/adoption-application/ *All cats will be neutered, vaccinated with age-appropriate vaccines, FELV tested, current on parasite prevention and microchipped.

Good with cats, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Meet Forrest 🧡—a 9-year old orange tabby with a gentle soul and a tender heart. Forrest has had a tough time finding his forever home, probably because he’s a little shy around strangers and has been moved from place to place, meeting lots of new people along the way. Recently, when his foster mom reconnected with him, Forrest hugged into her and refused to let her set him down—a perfect reminder of the affectionate, loving cat he truly is once he feels safe. Forrest has experienced some big changes, including the loss of his home and the loss of his bonded friend while in the shelter, so he’s navigating a new chapter and will need a patient, understanding home where he can feel secure again. He may be shy at first—especially around men, other cats, and sudden noises-but once he warms up, his affectionate side shines bright. He loves head rubs and scratches and will happily nuzzle your hand when offered. 💛 At bedtime, Forrest shows just how sweet he can be: he enjoys sleeping in bed with his foster mom, alternating between cozy snuggles right beside her and stretching out at the foot of the bed. He also adores cardboard scratching pads, which are one of his favorite comforts. Forrest would thrive in a calm, quiet home with someone willing to give him time, gentleness, and reassurance. In return, he’ll reward you with soft snuggles, loyal companionship, and the kind of love only a grateful, gentle cat can give.
