Domestic Longhair kittens & cats in Estherville, Iowa

***The first step in the adoption process is to complete the application at www.emmetcountyanimalshelter.org*** Hi, I'm Bridgette!  I was outside very thin, covered in matted hair with weeds and twigs all twirled up in my fluffy fur.  I can't say why or how I ended up living on my own but I was so grateful for being rescued I sat nicely while the kind and gentle crew at the shelter shaved and combed out all of my fur.  Obviously, as you can see in my photos I made up for meals I had missed and my fur has grown back in to this luxurious fluffy coat that I had before finding myself abandoned in the wild.  I have to tell you though that I somehow managed to get the FeLV virus before I came to the shelter so now I'm looking for a home with other kind cats that are FeLV positive or I could go to a home on my own too.  I have to say I've made fast friends with the rest of the FeLV crew here at the shelter and I would be happy for any of my buddies to go too.  Possibly due to my time with out having enough food, I do have a bit of issue and my new family would have to be ok with purchasing high quality food and having me on a feeding schedule. I have sort of an 'If I see it, I eat it theory!"  Oh, and I should mention, I broke my elbow at some point prior to coming here and while it is healed it healed in a wonky way so I walk with a bit of a limp.  I'm ok but I don't really jump or run much and I might need some arthritis supplements as I age.  Otherwise, I'm happy, affectionate and easy going.  I'm looking for a home that can appreciate that and give me unconditional love just like I will give them.  While I love being petted and groomed I hate being picked up or carried because that all just seems very scary!  My caretakers think I was likely born as a late fall kitten in 2021 and I am spayed, up to date on vaccinations and microchipped but remember, I am FeLV positive but I'm also very pretty and super sweet.  As always its free will to adopt a cat or kitten if your application is approved. May 2, 2024, 5:37 pm

***The first step in the adoption process is to complete the adoption application at www.emmetcountyanimalshelter.org*** This stunning fellow is Cash!  Cash was part of a large colony of cats but he was friendly and with his long, fine, flowing fur the colony caretakers felt he would do better as a house cat where someone could help him take care of his long, soft, floofiness (not a real word but it best describes him!).  Cash is just a tad bit reserved when meeting new people but warms up quickly and loves the loves.  Cash loves to play with the ball chaser/scratcher toy and his little friend Inky Too.  If you are looking for a pair of kitties they would be a great option.  You can catch a video of him in his bio on Adoptapet.com.  Cash is used to living with other cats and is pretty mellow all around.  We estimate he was born February of 2023.  He is neutered, vaccinated, FelV/FIV negative and microchipped.  As always our adoption fee for cats and kittens is free will to approved applicants. May 2, 2024, 5:37 pm

These three little goofy floofs are very entertaining.  They are in a foster home in their own room with running around privileges at night while the family is home and they are so silly.  Very curious and inquisitive, they love to check out everything as if it is brand new each night.  They usually all stick together as a unit playing with toys or things they find, watching and pouncing on a bug or even just shadows and just generally being squirrelly.  Occasionally, one of them might jump up on a lap and floop over for a tummy rub but then its off to the races again because there must be something going on and they cannot possibly miss the excitement!  The girls are also very talkative and love to have lots of attention.  They are used to being around other cats and dogs and really do enjoy the company of each other very much. Peanuts is just as silly and fun as her sisters but she does enjoy a bit of a snuggle for a little bit before she's off and running again.  The girls were born about August of 2022 and are ready to find their own home.  They have very long fine fur and it will be important to help them groom.  They may require a lion cut once or twice a year so before considering adopting them make sure that you are up for the time it will take to brush them on a regular basis and to have them groomed professionally if needed.  They are spayed, up to date on vaccinations, FeLV/FIV negative and microchipped.   May 2, 2024, 5:37 pm

***The first step in the adoption process is to complete the adoption application at www.emmetcountyanimalshelter.org*** You would be hard pressed to find a nicer, neater, sweeter cat than big ol Mace!  Rescued in a neighboring town, his good Samaritan knew he needed some medical attention so he was brought into the shelter.  Some antibiotics and good snacks was all he needed to heal up and show us that he wasn't meant for the streets in the first place so this big guy got to stay!  Now he's looking for a forever home that will never lead him to have to fend for himself in the out of doors all alone.  Mace is a sturdy cat with medium length fur that will require some occasional brushing to help keep him looking dapper.  We estimate he was likely born in 2017.  He is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, FeLV/FIV negative and microchipped.
