Story
Lucy is a sweet and playful 3 year old cat. She came to us at 6 months old, and is very loved. She loves snuggling, laying in the sun, and playing any chance she gets. She prefers pipe cleaners and string to cat toys, cat treats over wet food, and loves cat nip spray. She would be an ideal companion for a single person, or a family with older children. She doesn’t like constant attention but you rarely find her hiding because she wants to be out around people. I would love to see her in a home where she can gets lots of snuggles and attention, no babies or young children, and someone who can give her plenty of opportunities for lap snuggles and playing

Story
Don't let that initial hiss fool you—Wren is all bark and no bite, a confident little firecracker wrapped in sleek black fur. This gorgeous girl has opinions and she's not afraid to share them, but her tough-girl act is just that: an act. Underneath that spicy exterior beats the heart of a total sweetheart. Once Wren decides you're worthy (which honestly doesn't take long), you'll be treated to her legendary lawn mower purr, a rumbling motor of contentment that could probably be heard from the next room. She's a chatty companion who'll keep up a running commentary on her day, your day, and everything in between. Life with Wren is never quiet, and that's exactly how she likes it. This athletic little powerhouse is playfulness personified. She zooms, she pounces, she climbs; Wren approaches play with the intensity of an Olympic athlete and the joy of a kitten who knows how to live life to the fullest. Her energy is infectious and her acrobatics are endlessly entertaining. And yes, she's absolutely obsessed with churus and Catit sticks. Wave one of those in her direction and watch Miss Hard-to-Get transform into your very best friend in approximately 0.5 seconds. Wren needs a home that appreciates her big personality and can match her playful energy. In return, you'll get a loyal, affectionate companion who keeps life interesting. All Stray to Spay cats & kittens are: Fully vaccinated, Spayed/neutered, Dewormed, Triple tested (FeLV, FIV, Heartworm). Adoption includes an application, vet/reference check & virtual home visit. All of our cats are fostered indoors in loving Omaha-area homes until they find their forever family!   ##2626663##

Story
Calvin is a big goofball with lots of energy and some truly impressive zoomies. Watching him play is a lot of fun, especially on hardwood floors. When he chases toys too fast, his long foot fluff makes him skid in place and go absolutely nowhere, which never fails to get a laugh. Calvin is very loving and affectionate and enjoys being involved in whatever you’re doing. Playtime is his favorite, especially when it involves jingle balls or spring toys. He is very fluffy and needs brushing often to keep his coat free from mats. He doesn't mind at all, always happy to have the extra attention! One important thing to know about Calvin is that while he's very friendly with humans, he can be aggressive towards other cats, so he needs a home where he can be your only feline.  If you’re looking for a playful and affectionate goofball who will keep you smiling and feeling loved, Calvin is the one for you! All Stray to Spay cats & kittens are: Fully vaccinated, Spayed/neutered, Dewormed, Triple tested (FeLV, FIV, Heartworm). Adoption includes an application, vet/reference check & virtual home visit. Story
Introducing Zaya (born 2023). Despite the heartbreaking loss of her own kittens, she found solace and purpose caring for a litter of the kittens orphaned in the April tornadoes that hit Nebraska and Iowa.  Zaya is not your average lap cat. She’s more of a "look, don’t touch" kind of queen. She enjoys a peaceful home where she can lounge like a living ornament and observe life from her throne. Pets are allowed only on her terms, and she’d prefer you admire her beauty, keep her food dish full, and otherwise pretend she doesn’t exist. Zaya knows what she wants, and constant affection isn’t it. If you respect her space and appreciate a fiercely independent cat with a big personality, Zaya might just allow you to share her home. It takes her a while to feel comfortable around new people and warm up to them.  She will need time and space to adjust to her new surroundings. The suggested adoption donation for Zaya is $65, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal healthcare totaling over $390,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver.  Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.  To learn about Muddy Paws Last Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue Inc.   Alter Agreement: If the dog or cat you adopt is older than six months of age and not spayed or neutered, you will receive a voucher to alter the pet at Val Verde Animal Hospital in Omaha, at no cost to you. Or you can alter the pet at your own vet and be reimbursed $80 for dogs, and $50 for cats, of total cost. If the dog or cat is younger, than 6 months of age, adopter will be responsible for the cost of altering the pet at the vet of their choice. If proof of alter is received by Muddy Paws prior to the pet turning 6 months of age, a reimbursement of $80 for dogs, and $50 for cats, will be sent to you to help cover expenses. All puppies and kittens MUST be spayed or neutered by 6 months of age. All dogs and cats MUST be spayed or neutered no later than one month after adoption is finalized. ##2042603##
