Story
Joyful Rescues is considering Tom to be a sanctuary kitty with us.  It's not that he is feral as are the other 6 sanctuary kitties here that live in the basement, garage, outside, with cat doors open 24/7.  Tom is a friendly kitty, but he seems really elderly and it also seems that he has lived a rather rough life and likely mostly, if not all, outside.  He was not neutered until he arrived....maybe his playboy days were over so he decided to find a nice retirement home as he invited himself to live here.  Whether one of the other cats showed him all the doors or he found them himself is a mystery, but he's not the first kitty to simply appear in our basement.  He was afraid of us humans at first, but warmed up quickly once he realized he was safe.  Tom is very happy here and hangs around the humans when outside.  We have noticed that his eyes seem 'weepy' and his breathing is audible.  Other than this he seems healthy for his age and has a good appetite and gets around just fine.  Just an absolute guess maybe he was born in 2009.  Would we welcome an adoption for Tom?  Yes, as long as we felt he would be happier there than he is here. A cat can live 12-18+ years if cared for properly. Be sure you are able to care for it for its lifetime. The ADOPTION FEE:  There is no fee for Tom. YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 21 YEARS OF AGE TO ADOPT A CAT FROM JOYFUL RESCUES We keep our pet list as up-to-date as possible. As soon as a pet is adopted, it is removed from the list. If a pet is still showing, it is still available for adoption. Story
Jane Goodall is ready for happily ever after! Found as a stray with a flea infestation so severe that she was half bald, covered in her own blood, and anemic, she gave birth to a litter that died right after. She came to us in the nick of time, and Jane was quickly given supportive care and treatment as well as spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, etc. Even though we suspect she’s 3-5 years of age, Jane has finally been able to enjoy life. It’s like she’s been reborn as a kitten! She looooves playing with everything she can find and running laps around the house at all hours, but she’ll be sure to join her family in bed once she’s done and chirp to them when they wake up. Don't be surprised to find her on your pillow in the morning! Jane does well with kittens and chill males, but she's not a fan of female cats. She's quite tolerates of dogs and looooooves people. We don’t care what her family wants to donate for her adoption as long as we know they’ll give her the life she deserves. Please fill out an adoption app here: www.tiogacountycatproject.com/adoption

Story
Did you know that black cats are the least likely to be adopted according to statistics? Let's change that by adopting black! Mary Shelley is a BEAUTIFUL, black with a tinge of red in her hair, sweet, and friendly long-haired kitten! She has been VERY WELL socialized with cats, dogs, people, children, and other kittens! Mary Shelley tends to be rather calm for a kitten and enjoys relaxing on her bed and grooming herself. Mary Shelley is especially fond of her brother, Frankenstein, and needs to go to a home with at least one other cat or kitten in it as that is in her best interest! Perhaps you are interested in adopting 2 kittens?! (Ask us about our 2 for the price of 1 kitten deal!) Mary Shelley would do well in just about any home because she has such a nice personality. She can be easily picked up and held and has plenty of purrs to offer you! Mary Shelley is expected to be ready for adoption on September 30th! Mary Shelley will have been spayed, up to date on vaccines, dewormed, flea treated, FIV/FeLV/HW tested negative, and microchipped upon adoption! Interested adopters can submit an application by contacting HobosHome2020@yahoo.com or by sending us a message and we will send you the necessary form! ***PLEASE EMAIL US DIRECTLY OR CONTACT US ON FB SO THAT WE ARE SURE TO GET YOUR MESSAGE!***

Story
Shadow is a very unique and beautiful long haired cat! Her coat is black with a gray undercoat that is very pretty! The vet estimated her to be about 8 months old in March of 2024. She is a small cat and is not quite fully grown yet! (She will probably be fully grown by summer of 2024!) Shadow came to us after mysteriously appearing out of nowhere... she was rescued after being found outdoors where she was living under a shed. Shadow had to be trapped at first in order to be taken for TNR since she wasn't confident enough to approach or be approached by people. Once she was trapped, it was abundantly clear that she was definitely not feral (wild), just scared, because she meowed at us through the trap and really didn't seem that frightened by people! Due to her "friendly" behavior, we held onto her after she was fixed and gave her some time and patience to decompress and see if she would be adoptable. She MOST DEFINITELY IS adoptable although she is definitely still skittish and shy at this point! (She has been through a lot, after all!) Although we don't know anything more about Shadow's background, we do know that she has been around people before because she allows herself to be picked up, petted, and held with no problem! Although she is still in need of additional socialization, she is very sweet, has never shown any aggression of any kind, and has a lot of potential as an indoor house pet for the right person! Shadow needs a CALM home with someone who is willing to invest time and patience into continuing to socialize her. An adopter who has experience with skittish cats would be ideal but not necessarily required. We are not recommending a home with young children due to a calm home being in Shadow's best interest. Shadow is great with other cats and kittens so a home that has another feline companion, preferably a confident or outgoing one, would be ideal for her and may help her feel at home! Shadow has not yet been dog tested but we absolutely can do that if it makes a difference for you! (Just ask!) We want Shadow to go to a home that is willing to keep her regardless of how outgoing she may ever become. (Not EVERY cat is super outgoing and that's ok! They are entitled to have their own personalities!) Shadow has been spayed, is up to date on vaccines, dewormed, flea treated, FIV/FeLV/HW tested negative, and microchipped! She was eartipped at her time of spay because she was a part of a TNR program but it certainly doesn't make her any less beautiful! Interested adopters can submit an application by contacting HobosHome2020@yahoo.com or by sending us a message and we will send you the necessary form!
