Story
Meemaw spent her life deeply treasured by her previous owner, and that kind of love leaves a lasting imprint. She knows how to share a home, how to sit quietly beside her person, and how to offer steady companionship that feels comforting and true. After her owner passed away, Meemaw was given a new opportunity — a chance to once again give her heart to someone special. Shelter life has been an adjustment with its new sights, sounds, and routines, but she’s navigating it in her own thoughtful way. Each day she grows a little braver, a little more curious, and a little more comfortable in this new chapter. Meemaw is a lady who prefers to be admired before she’s adored. She enjoys attention from a respectful distance and is still building the confidence to fully lean into pets. There’s something incredibly special about earning the trust of a cat like her — watching her soften, seeing her eyes relax, knowing she’s choosing to feel safe with you. She loves treats (they are absolutely her love language), enjoys observing the world from a cozy perch, and takes life at her own unhurried pace. She would thrive in a calm, peaceful home where patience is offered freely and quiet companionship is valued. Meemaw has lived with other cats in the past and may do well with a respectful feline friend.

Molly is pretty much the perfect cat. She was caught as part of a TNR project but ended up being friendly so we held onto her for adoption. She's gorgeous (clearly) but also has the sweetest personality and disposition. We love her.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 25, 2026, 1:14 pm

Story
Cashew was trapped in a large apartment complex, running with her brother.  He turned out to prefer to live the wildlife but Cashew quickly shared her sweet nature.  She is nervous with new situations and may even great you with a little hiss but talk sweet to her, move slow and begin petting her and she melts.  She makes biscuits, leans in for a good ear scritch and gives you the butt lift for a good back scratch.  She would do best in a quiet home with someone who will start her in a smaller space like a bathroom where there is no place to hide.  Once she is used to you in this new place, you can give her more freedom in the rest of the home but expect that she will hide at first.  But boy...her sweetness makes up for the shyness and in time, she will be ready to approach for pets and snuggles.  She has enjoyed sitting in her foster mom's lap, soaking up the attention despite being nervous about being picked up at first.  Just in her short time with us, she has shown us glimpes of how wonderful she will become and her personality will match her beauty.Be the first to meet Cashew by completing the adoption application and a meet and greet can be scheduled.  She will also be attending our adoption event on Saturday, 12-4pm, at PetSmart, Bleachery Bvld.  Get $50 off the combined adoption fee for a pair of kittens (under 1 yr of age).  All cats are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on age appropriate vaccines, microchipped, FELV/FIV tested, dewormed and started on monthly flea preventative.  All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption. Contact the foster parent or Mountain Pet Rescue at pets@mpravl.org for more information. Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our animals as an individual and do our best to describe and place pets based on personality not breed label. Mountain Pet Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit tax deductible charity (EIN 82-3039637) located in Asheville, NC. February 18, 2026, 1:42 am

Story
Quitten is an exceptionally beautiful cat. He has the softest bright white fur with a few black patches and a solid black fluffy tail! He is absolutely striking. But even more special than his beautiful looks is his extremely sweet laid-back personality. He loves to sleep in little cubbies and cozy hiding spots. He loves pets and belly rubs. Quitten is slow to trust new people and environments, but when he does, he is so happy just to be in your company.  He will need someone with lots of patience who allows him plenty of time to feel secure.  He would do best in a home with no young children.  We do not know his experience with dogs.  Complete the online adoption application to be the first to schedule a meet and greet or visit him during our weekly adoption event at PetSmart, Bleachery Blvd, 12-4pm on Saturday.  All cats are spayed/neutered, current on age-appropriate vaccines, microchipped, FELV/FIV tested, dewormed and started on monthly flea preventative. All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption.
