Our vet says that a lot of cats with heart murmurs never develop heart disease or need any treatment, but it would definitely be very important to have the vet really listen to my heart at my annual exams because it's possible things could progress, and I might develop a need for medication. As I get older the vet may recommend seeing a cardiologist for an echocardiogram and annual monitoring.
