Story
Hera is a little shy and she's looking for her forever home. She would love to be adopted with one of her kitty friends near her age. Come out to the Refuge to see if pretty Hera or one of her kitty friends is the kitty you have been looking for to make you the lucky one! Approx. DOB - 6/6/2021Please be aware that we have a policy of not adopting out kittens until they are 4 months old, and then only to families with no children under the age of six years. We require that kittens be adopted in pairs until they are 5 months old, as they are very bonded to their siblings and can become quite depressed and stressed due to the separation. Kittens must be at least 9 months old before they are adopted into homes with children under the age of six years. Interested in adopting a Goathouse cat or kitten? Then please start by completing the following steps required in our screening process: 1) Complete our online adoption application: Visit www.goathouserefuge.org/adoption-application/ to get started! 2) Arrange to visit the cat(s) in person: Please check our website for current visiting hours at our Pittsboro refuge. If your application indicates an interest in a cat currently in foster or at Cat Tales Cat Cafe, we will inform you on steps to take to arrange a cafe or foster visit. 3) Complete a home visit: Once you confirm that you've visited in person with the cat(s) of interest and completed the online application, your responses will be reviewed by the refuge staff so that a volunteer member of our home visit team can contact you to schedule a visit. Only after a representative of the refuge has visited the applicant's home will the refuge consider continuing with the adoption process.

Story
Chucky is a brown tabby kitty was found wandering all by himself. A concerned neighbor found him and brought him to the Refuge. Chucky is a really good boy who likes to play with the feather-teaser or wiggle-worm (he tries to steal them & run off, so you gotta hold on tight!). He also plays with Anna (the orange & white tabby girl with one eye) and is like her gentle big brother when she gets spicy with him! He's starting to trust the volunteers a little more now and will sniff a hand when it's gently held close to him. We know he wants to interact more but he's just a little nervous, so he needs time and patience in a quiet, loving home and he will shine! We highly recommend visiting with him and getting to know his sweet personality! Approx. DOB: 10/30/20201) Complete our online adoption application: Visit www.goathouserefuge.org/adoption-application/ to get started! 2) Arrange to visit the cat(s) in person3) Complete a home visit: Once you confirm that you've visited in person with the cat(s) of interest and completed the online application, your responses will be reviewed by the refuge staff so that a volunteer member of our home visit team can contact you to schedule a visit. Story
Cane is a sweet, gentle cat who came to our rescue from a high-kill shelter in 2020, along with another kitty named Bane (adopted). At first, Cane was very fearful of people and would keep to himself or hide whenever visitors were around. But with time, he’s gradually learned to trust and has built up enough confidence to venture out from our Shy Cat area to mingle with visitors, albeit from a safe distance. It’s very clear from Cane’s body language that he’s right on the cusp of taking that next step and maybe allowing a gentle pet or two. Cane would love nothing more than to find a quiet, supportive home with understanding caretakers who are willing to let him bloom on his own terms and pace. We aren’t sure how he’d do around dogs, but he gets along fine with the other cats at the Goathouse and would likely not mind sharing a home with another easy-going, non-dominant cat. Approx. Story
Foxy is a beautiful mix tortie mix, with a slight hint of Bengal markings in her golden-orange coat. She came to the refuge with her sibling, Luke (adopted), from Siler City where both were found as strays. Foxy can be shy around new people and when faced with new experiences, so a home without small kids would be best for her. She gets along fine with other easy-going cats, though, so if you’re seeking a quiet companion and don’t mind letting Foxy take things at her own pace, then we’d love for you to come meet her in person! Currently, Foxy lives at the home of our director, so when you come for a visit, one of our volunteers can help facilitate a visit. Approx. DOB: 06/02/20

Story
Life hasn't been easy for our lovely, shy Blanca, who was basically abandoned at the refuge by a woman who threatened to dump Blanca and several other cats by the roadside if Goathouse would not take them. One look at that beautiful, frightened little face and we just could not think of turning Blanca away! Blanca is still adjusting to life at the refuge, and while she still shies away from people initially, she seems more afraid than anything, and who can blame her, after all she's been through? Blanca would love to find a calm, quiet home, ideally with a caretaker who is well-versed in reading cat body language and nonverbal cues and committed to working with Blanca on socialization, taking things 100% at Blanca's pace. If you think you might be a good fit for Blanca, please complete our online adoption application and come meet her in person soon!Approx. DOB: 10/15/2020
