Story
Lucille is not your ordinary cat; she's a bundle of energy and enthusiasm wrapped in a furry coat. With her lively personality and love for play, she brings joy and excitement to any household lucky enough to have her. From the moment you meet Lucille, her sociable nature shines through. She thrives on interaction and craves attention from her human companions. Whether it's a gentle stroke on her soft fur or a cozy snuggle session on the couch, Lucille revels in the warmth of companionship. But Lucille isn't just a cuddlebug; she's a playful adventurer at heart. With a penchant for excitement, she's always where the action is. You'll often find her darting around the house, chasing after feather wands or pouncing on anything that moves. Her love for play knows no bounds, and she's constantly seeking out new ways to engage her curious mind and agile body. One of Lucille's favorite pastimes is birdwatching. With a keen eye and quick reflexes, she perches herself by the window, captivated by the flurry of activity outside. The sight of chirping birds and fluttering wings brings out her inner hunter, and she watches with fascination, imagining herself in the midst of the action. But Lucille's adventurous spirit doesn't end there; she's also a skilled climber. Give her a cat tree or a towering shelf, and she'll ascend to new heights with grace and agility. From her elevated vantage point, she surveys her domain with a sense of pride, reveling in the thrill of exploration. However, Lucille's social nature has a sensitive side too. She may occasionally vocalize her feelings, especially when left alone. Her plaintive cries serve as a gentle reminder of her need for companionship and affection. To keep her content, it's important to shower her with love and attention, ensuring she feels secure and cherished at all times. In summary, Lucille is a social butterfly, a playful adventurer, and a loving companion all rolled into one. With her boundless energy and zest for life, she enriches the lives of those around her, filling every moment with laughter, love, and endless joy. If you're interested in adopting Lucille, please fill out our online application at windyridgerescue.org/applicationIf you are interesting in meeting any of our pets, the process is to complete an application.  It can be downloaded as a pdf document from our website and submitted by email to WindyRidgeRescue@gmail.com  as a scanned document or as photos OR can be completed entirely online. Both links are in the header of our website.   Because we are foster based, we require an approved application to schedule a meet and greet. We feel that is fair to our fosters and rescues so every meet and greet can result in an adoption. A limited number of cats are showcased at Peetco in Sumter, SC weekly.  &#226&#128&#139We do not have set adoption fees for dogs, but hope adopters will donate generously so we can rescue more. The medical care for every dog can easily exceed the adoption donation.  Average adoption fees for dogs in the area range from $175 up to $450. Your generous adoption donations help us continue our programs of providing quality food and medical care to those who pass through our fosters.  We ask for a minimum adoption donation of $70 for cats who are not yet altered and $100 for cats who are already spayed or neutered, regardless of age.  Please bring your own carrier for the ride home!  Each cat is up to date on vaccinations, dewormer, and microchipped.  Larger donations are always welcome so we can rescue more.  Medical care for each cat easily exceeds the minimum donation.   &#226&#128&#139As with every rescue, our resources are limited and the need for rescue help is unlimited. Your generosity helps us to rescue more and funds the only Trap Neuter Return Program in the county.  It's like tossing $100 bills in the woods when we trap a cat, vaccinate and spay or neuter that cat and then return them to the colony. Young kittens are tamed and available for adoption. We are alone doing this in our area. Your increased donation at the time of adoption can help us cover costs for the cat becoming part of your family as well as a feral to prevent more feral litters.  &#226&#128&#139Adopting or fostering for a rescue frees up a space where a new rescue can reside.  &#226&#128&#139If you can't adopt or foster, than please consider donating.  February 28, 2024, 4:23 pm

Story
Meet Misty, the epitome of softness and sass in feline form. With her velvety fur and spirited personality, Misty captivates the hearts of all who have the pleasure of meeting her. Despite her petite size, Misty exudes a confidence that shines through in her occasional moments of sassiness. She knows what she likes and isn't afraid to let you know when she prefers petting over being held. Misty's independent spirit is part of her charm, and she brings a touch of spunk to every interaction. But beneath her occasional sassiness lies a heart full of love and affection. Misty adores snuggling with her human companions, reveling in the warmth and comfort of their presence. While she may prefer snuggling on her own terms, Misty's love knows no bounds, and she cherishes the moments spent in close companionship. One of Misty's favorite pastimes is birdwatching from the window, where she can observe the world outside with fascination and curiosity. Watching her gaze intently at the fluttering birds is a testament to her playful and inquisitive nature, bringing joy to all who witness her excitement. Despite being FIV+, Misty harbors no ill will towards other kitties and enjoys their company immensely. As long as they reciprocate her affection, Misty poses no threat to her feline companions and is happy to share her love and companionship with them. In essence, Misty is more than just a soft and sassy kitty; she is a loving companion, a playful spirit, and a cherished member of the family. With her independent nature and boundless affection, Misty brings joy and laughter to every moment shared with her. Story
Meet Aubree, the epitome of sweetness and love in feline form. This gentle kitty, once a part of a colony, has captured the hearts of all who have had the privilege of meeting her. Despite facing challenges in her past, Aubree's resilient spirit shines through, illuminating her journey with hope and determination. She came to us with a condition known as entropion, which caused painful friction with the surface of her eyes due to abnormal inward rolling of the eyelids. However, thanks to the skilled care and intervention she received, Aubree has undergone surgery to correct this condition, paving the way for a brighter and pain-free future. Now, with her entropion surgery behind her, Aubree is ready to embark on the next chapter of her life: finding her forever home. And what a home it will be, for Aubree is a loving and affectionate companion who adores cuddles and playtime. Aubree's soft fur is a testament to her gentle nature, inviting caresses and snuggles from anyone lucky enough to be in her presence. She delights in playful interactions, engaging in games that bring joy and laughter to all who join in. But perhaps Aubree's greatest gift is her capacity for love. Despite the challenges she has faced, she exudes an unconditional warmth and affection that knows no bounds. With every purr and nuzzle, Aubree reminds us of the transformative power of love and the resilience of the human spirit. If you're ready to open your heart and home to Aubree, a sweet and loving kitty who has overcome adversity with grace and courage, then please consider giving her the forever home she deserves. With her soft fur and even softer heart, Aubree is sure to bring endless love and happiness to the lucky family who welcomes her into their lives.
