Story
Considering adopting? The first step is to complete our online Adoption Application at http://forgetmenotshelter.org/Application Please do not call the shelter; do the application first. Aiken is a calm and affectionate girl, estimated to be about 6 years old, who arrived as a stray. She found her way to us just in time, as she had developed pyometra, a uterine infection, which is uncommon in cats but can be fatal. Thankfully, spay surgery and a round of antibiotics have Aiken back in tip-top shape, and she is ready to find a home where she can become part of the family. She obviously went outside before joining us, but so far has not seemed very interested in escaping to the great outdoors - seems like comfort is Aiken's main ambition, and she knows having bottomless food and water dishes, clean litterboxes, heat, soft beds, and medical care are WAY better than trying to survive on her own in the wild. Aiken is currently rooming with a younger cat, Winter, who she tolerates even though he is much more active and playful. She would prefer more sedate kitty companions (if any) in her forever home. All pets arrive spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated. Adoption fee for Aiken is a suggested minimum of $40 (more gratefully accepted). All pets are placed with a 30-day money-back trial period, to give pet and family enough time to discover any unknown allergies or other conflicts. Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you! We have monthly transports to the Seattle area, delivering adopted pets to their new owners. If you can add a little to your donation to help us cover our volunteer driver's expenses, that would be great!

Considering adopting? The first step is to complete our online Adoption Application at http://forgetmenotshelter.org Please do not call the shelter; do the application first. Ruby, a 9 month old classic tuxedo girl, arrived as a stray and was never claimed. The people who brought her in said she was fine with their dogs, and she has gotten along well with the other cats in her cat room. Ruby is playful and affectionate, and should integrate pretty seamlessly into just about any type of family. All pets arrive spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated. Adoption fee for Ruby is a suggested minimum of $50 (more gratefully accepted). All pets are placed with a 30-day money-back trial period, to give pet and family enough time to discover any unknown allergies or other conflicts. Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you! Story
Considering adopting? The first step is to complete our online Adoption Application at http://forgetmenotshelter.org/Application Please do not call the shelter; do the application first. Introducing Winter! This 8 month old handsome tabby and white boy gets along with other cats, dogs, children, and all sorts of humans. He is very affectionate, can be pretty playful after he has had all his snuggle needs met, and would be find as an indoor only or indoor-outdoor kitty. We expect Winter to fit in well with just about any sort of family, though he is a bit of an attention hog so would likely prefer to have only a handful (at most) of other pets with which to share his humans. All pets arrive spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated. Adoption fee for Winter is a suggested minimum of $50 (more gratefully accepted). All pets are placed with a 30-day money-back trial period, to give pet and family enough time to discover any unknown allergies or other conflicts. Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you! Story
Considering adopting? The first step is to do the application at http://forgetmenotshelter.org/Application Please do not call the shelter, do the application first. Rocket, a beautiful black panther short-haired boy, was born 6/15/23. He started off a little bit shy and skittish, but has come a long way since joining the Forget Me Not family! Rocket could be indoor only or indoor/outdoor in a safe and predator-free area (given enough time to acclimate to his new home BEFORE letting him go outside). He is good with other cats, and young enough that he should adapt to cat-friendly dogs in time. All pets arrive spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated. Adoption fee for Rocket is a suggested minimum of $50 (more gratefully accepted).
DJ and his brother Dakota, just over a year old, were surrendered by a family with several cats, whose children were not keeping up with litterbox duty, so some of the cats had to go. These two drew the short straws. The prior owner described these boys as both being very nice, friendly cats who are good with other cats, dogs, and children. Since arriving at the shelter, Dakota, the tabby, has adapted pretty well, and is playful and affectionate. DJ, the handsome black panther, appears to be a more sensitive soul whose heart broke when he lost his family. He is sort of shut down and depressed right now, though he gets to share his room with his brother and a couple of other friendly kitties. DJ's wonderful purrsonality only shines through when he has visits from staff and volunteers, as can be seen on his video. These boys may be adopted separately, though they would likely enjoy finding a new home together if possible. They are used to an indoor-only lifestyle. Dakota should fit in pretty seamlessly wherever he ends up, while DJ would like a compassionate and sensitive person to snuggle him through his depression and reassure him that he is worthy of love again. All pets arrive spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated. Adoption fee is a suggested minimum of $40 (more gratefully accepted). All pets are placed with a 30-day money-back trial period, to give pet and family enough time to discover any unknown allergies or other conflicts. Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you!
