Story
[gallery_adoption] Meet our two sweet tabby sisters, Lilian and Marian, known as Lil and Mari! Lil is the one with the more angular features and Mari is more round faced, with a tipped ear badge of courage that shows she was rescued from trying to survive on the streets. They were rescued from a bad situation at a trash company as wee kittens. They had a wonderful foster mom as kittens, so have come a long way from their early days of being terrified of humans. Because of that, though, they will start out as Wallflowers in new situations, hiding somewhere they feel safe and observing for a few days. Once they feel safe, though, they will turn into very loving cats, purring and ready for pets. We expect they'll be a balance of Kitty Admin, wanting to know where you are, with a streak of independent, able to entertain themselves when you're not around...and sometimes when you are😻! Lil tends to be a little more confident and will likely be the one who adapts first, coming out to her new family for purrs and pets. Mari is a little more reticent, needing to know 100% that her new home is safe before she takes a chance again on love. Once she does, though, she's just as much about the head-bonks and purrs as Lil is. We expect they'll be great little sidecar cats, cuddling up beside you on a cold winter's night. Both are still youngsters at 2 years, so playtime is still one of the best ways to their hearts. Mari is the lead playgirl who loves to leap and run with just about any wand toy, with Lil not far behind her! They have lived at Happy Cats for many months and will need at least 1 month in their Safe Room, a quiet space to learn to trust and love their new family. They grew up with other cats so may do well with another cat or two who is known to like other cats, with a gentle and slow introduction. They will blossom in a calm and quiet, stable environment with just adults to care for them and no dogs please. As TLC cats, they come with a kit to help you support them while they become the lovable companions we know they can be. This includes a home installation with suggestions for low stress handling and confidence building, a top/side loading carrier per kitty, their favorite toys & bedding, their usual food & litter starter kit and professional behavioral counseling if needed. They will do best with minimum travel to their new home. Because of all they've been through, they are bonded and need to stay together. They can be adopted together for $120 which includes their spays, vaccinations, microchips, food and litter starter kits, and a free well-kitty checkup each to help you get started. We recommend you wait at least a month until they are coming out and interacting in their home until you take them to the veterinarian. Story
Have you ever had that joyful experience of finally getting a shy cat to lean into petting with love? If so, Riley & Luka are looking for a Superhero just like you! Adorable little tabby Riley came to Happy Cats after being rescued from trying to survive outside in a homeless camp, which you can tell by her tipped-ear badge of courage. Big handsome tabby Luka has white paws, vest and big green eyes. He came back to us after his guardian died and he was left alone for a long time. They met each other at here at the Haven and have been friends ever since! They are are more than ready to have their own home and family to love. Because of their scary early lives they needed time to learn to trust, but now they get very excited to see their friends! They greet their favorite people with lots of rubs, head bonks and chirps. They both appreciate being able to initiate petting, but once they consent, they are very affectionate. They both love to snuggle next to you when you sit on the floor with their favorite blanket in your lap, which is a kitty magnet for them! Riley will lay and roll in your lap, while Luka is a Sidecar Cat who loves to snuggle right next to you. They also love to be brushed during their snuggle sessions. Being picked up has been scary for them in the past, so they do best when they can be in charge of how and when they are petted. As your favorite Kitty Admins, they can be extremely helpful about the house! We expect they’ll follow you around–especially Riley!–and give you instructions on whatever it is you’re doing. If you do well, they may even reward you with a headbonk and some purrs! Riley is a flirty little lady once you get to know her and Luka will be your steadfast, green-eyed man of the house. Playtime is the best way to win their hearts and keep them confident. In spite of Riley’s sweet appearance, she’s a fierce little hunter when it comes to playtime. Get out any wand toy and you won’t believe how fast she is! Neither of them can resist when a toy disappears under a rug or blanket. They come with a Cat Dancer and fleece wand to keep increasing their confidence at their new home. This will also help them bond to their new family. Both cats love high perches and will come with a cat tree to provide that. Riley survived by hiding up in trees when she was outside and Luka loves his high perches too. This helps them stay confident when they’re feeling a little unsafe. They have lived at Happy Cats for many months and will need at least 2 months in their Safe Room, a quiet space to learn to trust and love their new family, as well as our Hands Off handling to help them build trust. Superhero Cats need to be the only pets in the home and do best in a home without small children. Superhero Kitties come with a kit that helps you support them while they become the lovable companions we know they can be (http://happycatshaven.org/kitty-superhero/). This includes a home installation, a top/side loading carrier per kitty, a mini-class in Hands Off Handling, their favorite toys & bedding, 3 months of food/litter/treats, up to 1 year of professional behavioral counseling if needed. Riley is about 4 and Luka is about 6. They can be adopted together for $90 which along with their Superhero Kit includes their spay and neuter, vaccinations, microchips, food and litter and treats for 3 months, and a free well-kitty checkup each to help you get started. Please wait at least 2 months before taking them in for their checkup. You can click here http://happycatshaven.org/superhero-adoption-application/ to fill out a Superhero Adoption Application. Someone should get back to you within 48 hours after you send it in. If you’d like to contact someone more quickly, please call or leave a message at 719-725-4970 or 719-362-4600 to make an appointment to meet them!

[gallery_adoption] Are you ready to make a huge difference in the lives of some special little cats? If you've ever had that joyful experience of finally getting a shy cat to lean into petting with love, Sansa and Bonnie are looking for a Superhero just like you! Bonnie and Sansa are a fun tabby and calico duo who became friends at Happy Cats Haven after being rescued trying to survive outside in different situations. Bonnie is the silver tabby with neat white patches and Sansa is the calico lady with inquisitive yellow eyes. Because of their early experiences in life, they will need a family with extra patience, willing to let them blossom at their own pace. They are playful, affectionate and ready to start their happily-ever-after with a new home and family to love! They were a little slow to trust at first because of their dangerous early lives outside (which you can see from Sansa's tipped-ear badge of courage), but now they are very happy to see their friends! They love soft, gentle pets and calm, soothing voices. Because of their early rough handling they are both Say Please kitties, which means they really need to let you know what they're thinking with their body language. This includes when and where they want to be petted. If you take it slowly and allow them to ask you for pets first, they will relax and trust you more quickly. Once they know you're kind and gentle, Sansa is an affectionate little girl who loves face rubs! When you're petting her, she may even roll over on her side and make some biscuits! Sansa will definitely be your confident Kitty Admin once she gets settled in. She likes to be where her favorite people are, following you around to make sure your life is running smoothly. She also has a very sweet, soft purr to reward her humans with as she gives you gentle headbonks. Bonnie is a little more shy and likes to observe first before she gives her heart away. Once she's assured she's safe, she'll be right behind Sansa, as you can see. Once they get to know you, they won’t be able to resist when you sit with a blanket in your lap to offer a brush, toy, snacks or just closeness. They will both be Sidecar Cats, the ones who love to give--and get--attention while snuggled up next to you. They survived outside by being cautious, so new things may send them into hiding. But if they are introduced gradually, they will adapt and do well. They really do love to be brushed and will come with their favorite brushes. It's a wonderful way to bond and of course helps prevent hairballs. Bonnie loves her cubby and tented beds so she can feel safe and will come with her favorite one.. Play is their love language! Playing daily with da Bee, Cat Dancers, feather toys, fleece or leather snakes and other small, quiet wand toys is big fun and will increase their confidence. They forget to be afraid when they're playing, so play is an important, effective and fun tool for helping them settle into their new life. They are amiable companions who enjoy being around each other without being overly snuggly. They give each other confidence and will be great support as they settle into their new lives. They have lived at Happy Cats for many months and will need at least 1 month in their Safe Room, a quiet space to learn to trust and love their new family. They grew up with other cats so may do well with another cat or two who is known to like other cats, with a gentle and slow introduction. [gallery_adoption] Hello fans, I’m Rhythm! I’m a beautiful brown tabby lady with stunning peridot eyes that don't miss a thing. I came here from another rescue and am more than ready to find my furever family! I'm a confident little lady, the Party Animal who loves to be the center of attention! I like nothing more than to run the house to make sure everything has a good rhythm and flow (see what I did there?). At just over a year old, I can play and pounce like any little whippersnapper. I love the Cat Dancer right now but will probably love any kitty wand that you're on the other end of. After playtime is over, I love to snuggle in right next to you, a purrfect little Sidecar Cat. I love all the people I've met, including children, and do fine with other confident cats as long as they have good boundaries. As outgoing as I am, I may also do well with a nice cat-friendly dog and a slow introduction. I can be adopted for $100 which includes my spay, vaccinations, microchips, food and litter starter kit, and a free well-kitty checkup with our wonderful partner vets to help you get started. I am Biscuit Factory Ambassador who is staying at our partner the Biscuit Factory Cat Lounge with my other Happy Cats friends. [gallery_adoption] Well hello there, I'm Lyric! I'm a gorgeous tabby lady with rosettes of my cousins the Bengals, just no fancy papers. I came here from another rescue when I was found trying to survive outside. I'm loving my domestic life now and am ready for my furever family! I can start out a little shy but I quickly warm up to kind people. I will probably be your best little Kitty Admin once I'm home and settled, happy to tag along with whatever you're doing to make your day run a little brighter. I'm a Sidecar cat who likes to hang out right next to my favorite people, purring up a storm. I'm still a catolescent at about 8 months, so I love to channel my inner kitten when it's playtime. Get out those kitty wands and watch me pounce and play! I'm an active and curious little youngster. I do well with other cats and will blossom into my best self in a home with older children. I will probably gain confidence without active dogs in my new home. I can be adopted for $100 which includes my spay, vaccinations, microchips, food and litter starter kit, and a free well-kitty checkup with our wonderful partner vets to help you get started. Story
Hi world, I’m Sunny and I’m here to make sure your bright days are here! I’m that rare jewel, a female orange tabby lady. I was rescued by a kind Samaritan during our last big snowstorm when I was abandoned outside. First things first, you need to know that I’m all the cat you’ll need, so I’ll need to be your One & Only. I’m sure that once you meet me, you’ll find that no one can compete with Smilin’ Sunny anyway! Also, a little reassurance is always nice especially for a survivor with abandonment fears. At only about 4 years old, I’m a very active little lady, always ready for playtime. I like just about any kitty wand, including the fleece snake I can romp around, chasing across the room. I love to scratch on vertical carpeted scratchers, so will be a good kitty once I have one of my own. Once playtime is done, I’m an affectionate lady who’s happy to follow you around like a good little Kitty Admin, then settle down to trade purrs for pets. Just make sure to stop once I’ve had enough so I don’t get overstimulated and have to tell you to stop with a love bite. It was very scary for me trying to survive outside, so I’ll do best in a home with older children and no dogs, along with no other cats. I can be adopted for $100 which includes my spay, vaccinations, microchip, food and litter starter kit, and a free well-kitty checkup to help you get started. I’m in a loving foster home now, so please call the Haven to arrange a time to come meet me! You can tap here to fill out an Adoption Application https://happycatshaven.org/adoption-application/. Someone should get back to you during our adoption hours Wednesday – Sunday by 5 pm . ***My foster family says, `Chuck is snacky and focused. He pays attention to one thing at a time. He is a solid napper after playing hard.` Add some spice to your life by adopting a spicy kitten! Chuck will need ample time to adjust to his new home as he is still learning that people aren`t all that bad! Placing him in his own sanctuary room such as a small bathroom with food, water, bed, toys, scratching post, and litter box will help him settle in and not become overwhelmed. This room should be quiet with hiding places as well as some perches. He will need lots of positive interactions with him people to learn that they are friends, so lots of treats, snuggles, and pets will help him learn to love much quicker. Don`t let the hisses and hiding scare you; working with him to build him trust will soon have him out of his shell and loving people! Once he has acclimated to the room and you, slow introductions to other animals and the rest of the house can begin. He will require some patience and love until he realizes he is safe and ok, but once you win him over he will be your best friend! Please contact Chuck`s foster mom, Erin, at 719-453-2846 by text to inquire about Chuck or set up a visit. Please allow up to 24 hours for Erin to respond.

***Staff thinks I will be ready by mid July. My foster family says, `My name is Binx and I had a rough start on the street so I started off super duper shy! But fear not, I have come a long way! I have a little more to go but I will come around even more with some time, churu, wet tood, and love. My foster parents are gamers so I love to sit with them and watch them play and get pets in between matches and purr and play with them. I love playing with my toys in my room. They bring the neighbor kids over all the time and I ADORE them and I`m super patient with them. I`m kinda goofy so be prepared to laugh! I`m pretty small for my age so there`s no telling how big I will get! I`m like a tiny big cat perma kitten? You`ll just have to meet me to find out!`*** I am not currently at the shelter because I`m growing big and strong in a foster home! You can sign up to pre-adopt me by placing a $50 choice hold. This is a non-refundable fee that does not go towards my adoption fee, but it does give you the first opportunity to adopt me. Shelter staff will contact you when I’m ready to go home with my new family! To place a choice hold, you can either come into the shelter or call us at 719-473-1741; you may wait to speak with a customer service representative or leave a voicemail. Choice holds are placed on a first-come, first-serve basis and only one choice hold can be placed on an animal. Once I am old enough to go home, I will have to be adopted at the shelter without a visit. Unfortunately, we aren’t able to visit while I’m in the foster home as it’s a lot of stress on me to be transported back and forth to the shelter for visits, which makes me more susceptible to getting sick.
