Story
About a month ago, this distinguished gentleman showed up at our door. He appeared to be a stray, but we believe he likely had a previous owner because of how friendly and comfortable he is with people. He’s the ultimate lap cat—always ready to curl up on you while you’re relaxing on the couch or in bed. While he loves to lounge, he also has a playful, energetic side. He enjoys chasing his toys, playing catch, and will happily entertain himself (and you) during playtime. He’s also quite chatty when he’s in the mood. We estimate he’s around a year and a half old. The only challenge we’ve encountered is that he doesn’t get along well with our current cat. Otherwise, he’s truly a wonderful cat who would make an incredible companion in the right home. He is chipped, neutered, litter box trained and up to date on all vaccines.

Story
Meet Roller (aka DG) — the Dollar General Surprise! Roller earned his name in an unexpected way — he was found sitting on a shelf inside a Dollar General store on October 18th. Skinny, wet, and sick, this kitty had fallen on hard times. I brought him home, and he’s been safe and thriving ever since. Roller does live up to his unusual name! He absolutely loves to roll at your feet. He’s also a smart cat, understands commands, and will happily follow you from room to room like your purring assistant. He can be a little shy when meeting new people, but give him a little time and he melts into hugs and kisses. He’s playful, too — feather toys are his favorite. Now eight months young, Roller is healthy, dewormed, flea treated, neutered, and up-to-date on his vaccines. Our county shelter is a kill shelter, so I rehoming Roller myself. No declawing please, it's inhumane. Please contact me for more pics and videos on Roller. Thank you, Nicola, Clay County, Illinois

Story
Hi, my name is Freckles and I'm about 4 1/2 years old.  I was a stray and rescued by a BCHS volunteer, and brought to Bond County Humane Society to find a loving permanent home. I am playful and like to chase bouncy balls. I like to get to know you before I want to be petted.  Of course, this is all on my terms.  I determine when and how long you can pet me.  I love to explore and look in all the nooks and crannies around the shelter. I am considered Special Needs for a couple reasons.  First, I tested positive for FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus).  FIV is comparable to AIDS in people. It is transmitted to other cats by scratching or biting. There is not a vaccine available to provide immunity to other cats so I need to be the only cat in the household or live with other FIV positive cats. I can have a normal life expectancy of a cat. The most important things for me are a low stress environment, good quality food and regular veterinarian care.  Second, I was also diagnosed with IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease) which requires me to have a special diet.  It is extremely important for me to stay healthy.  I get along well with the other cats who have been in the FIV room at the shelter.  I am available for immediate adoption.  I am spayed, UTD on vaccinations, tested for FeLV/FIV, treated for internal and external parasites and micro chipped.  My adoption fee has been waived.  If you are interested in making me a member of your family please complete an Adoption Profile in person or on-line at www.bondcohumane.org .  Email the completed profile to the address provided.  A copy of our policy regarding warranties, refunds and returns is available upon request. Story
Hi, my name is Frida  and I'm about 17 weeks old.  My siblings and I were born at a lady's house, but she had too many cats to keep us. We were surrendered to Bond County Humane Society so we can find loving furever homes. I am a beautiful black, white, and tan tabby kitten. I am ready to play with any toy you have! I love to play with my siblings and the other kittens. I am a little shy at first, but then I will come out to be picked up and snuggled, and I will purr for you.  I am available for immediate adoption. I am spayed, UTD on vaccinations, tested for FeLV/FIV, treated for internal and external parasites and micro chipped.  My adoption fee is $150. If you are interested in making me a member of your family please complete an Adoption Profile in person or on-line at  www.bondcohumane.org .  Email the completed profile to the address provided.  A copy of our policy regarding warranties, refunds and returns is available upon request. Hi, my name is Ebony   and I'm about 1 year old.  My owner passed away and I was surrendered to Bond County Humane Society so I can find a new loving furever home. I am a beautiful black young adult cat. I like to be picked up and petted after I watch you awhile. I watch the other cats play and then do my own thing. My favorite thing is eating! I don't' let anything get in my way of food!   I am spayed, UTD on vaccinations, tested for FeLV/FIV, treated for internal and external parasites and micro chipped.  My adoption fee is $ 65.00. Story
Hi, my name is Jossie and I'm 11 1/2 years old.  Me and my litter mates were surrendered to Bond County Humane Society for adoption because the people we lived with did not want us.  I am sociable and playful.  Before I came to live at BCHS I lived in a garage but I was well socialized with people and played with an 8 year old child.  I don't have any experience with dogs.  I like to play with toys, string, boxes or pretty much anything.  In 2017 I was diagnosed with IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease).  In my case it affects my stomach, not my intestines.  Because my stomach is involved it causes me to have chronic vomiting.  My care for this condition includes food and medication.  In my case the food I tolerate best has fish as the protein, not any meat.  The other part of my care is supplemental injections under the skin of  B-12.  This is needed because my body is unable to absorb this vitamin.   I have done well on the maintenance program described.  I have been able to maintain a healthy weight.  I am spayed, UTD on vaccinations, tested for FeLV/FIV, treated for internal and external parasites and microchipped. My adoption fee is waived. If you are interested in adopting me please complete an adoption profile in person or on-line at www.bondcohumane.org.  Email the completed profile to the address provided.    A copy of our policy regarding warranties, refunds or returns is available upon request. March 10, 2026, 11:09 am
