Story
Onyx is a very beautiful 2-year-old black cat that came to the shelter after she sought refuge through someone’s doggy door where she had a litter of kittens.   The concerned people contacted Patriots for Pets and we took them right away.  They went straight into foster.  Onyx’s kittens have all been adopted.  Onyx took some time to warm up to people, but she is now doing wonderful and loves to be petted and held.  She has made such amazing progress.  She still gets a little scared if there are sudden movements.  We will never know what she has been through, but she was a wonderful mother and took such good care of her babies until they could be adopted.  It is now time for Onyx to find her forever home where she can trust and love her new people.  She does take a little bit to warm up so she needs someone who will have a little patience for this beautiful girl.  She gets along with most cats in the foster house; she still doesn’t really like the dogs.  But she does get to see them every day.  She absolutely loves the 2 foster kittens that are in the house with her. Onyx is up to date on all her shots and has been spayed. Her adoption fee is $150.00.  If you would love to give Onyx a forever home, please fill out an adoption application at www.patriotsforpets.com.  We have been having intermittent website issues, so if it is not working, please use the link below. https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fform.jotform.com%2F31305341796150%3Ffbclid%3DIwAR2_syRyDkdc1teTn2XGMiDMTK2LGk8PuHP6mr3gnXdX9UL2GeLUvhTdSu0&h=AT3Lk-xbTLx_U5DgX9YAJHULVzPm5iOruaFAuA2X8j0YgISb4ubXePEtLwOKV0BokDXo7Ugb02SqMxWDNQSG-wDjO0rSkGJSNpsasV1Q4rrH9GwoFdj9v4ZnOVVFfXZ6LgGNb0N8d6_mb9QfqZ8dkuQeJgZvJfmZopIlB55aVq_jupOgcOxeRUPt1MBAx-0ANck4GD9OO5KyElEgTrfPCWExQQp7IDsDqEbYFoVu1-GNpBgA885SjA_oX_BkhoBd87T_zm_V0LELIZvw28Q_4aRj7O60kElcGBrD&__tn__=-UK*F   ##1703978##

Story
Huxley came to us after being found as a stray who was never claimed. We believe he was born in June of 2020 and would do well with other animals and humans ages 8 and older. Huxley is a sweet boy who can be a bit shy at first and may take a little more time to adjust to new people and surroundings. He would prefer to have a kitty friend in his new home or take a friend with him when he gets adopted! Once Huxley gets to know you he likes to be petted and getting tail bone scratches. All pets adopted from the Humane Society of Freeborn County will be spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, testing and will be microchipped. All of this is included in their adoption fee. Fill out an application to adopt at freeborncountyhs.org When transitioning your new pet home please allow for at least 4-6 weeks for your pet to adjust to their new home. They will need this time to decompress, and adjust to a new routine and environment. During that time we will provide check ins and counseling to ensure a successful transition. Please review all basic adoption requirements listed on our website before applying. We take finding the right homes for the animals in our care very seriously. They deserve nothing but the best! Please allow 2-7 days for applications to be processed. If an animal is listed in foster care, these pets are not at our facility, but are in foster care homes. They are still available for adoption, and meet and greets are done with pre-approved applicants only. If you have any questions feel free to send us an email at freeborncohumanesociety@gmail.com, send us a message on Facebook, or call or text 507-377-8501.

Story
Fiero was found all alone hanging out on someones front stoop crying for help when he was about a month old. When Fiero first came to us he was very nervous of people, but soon warmed up and showed us his sweet side! We believe he was born in May of 2021 and would do well with most ages and other animals with proper introduction. Fiero can be a touch shy with new people at first, but in no time he warms up and is very affectionate. He also loves to lounge in front of the window, and find a fly to chase or a toy to play with! All pets adopted from the Humane Society of Freeborn County will be spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, testing and will be microchipped. All of this is included in their adoption fee. Story
Brittany and her siblings came to us after they were found as strays by a concerned citizen. We believe Brittany was born in March of 2021 and would do well with most ages and other animals with proper introduction. Brittany loves attention, snuggling up on your lap, or finding a cozy sunbeam to lounge in! One of her favorite activities is bird watching! When she isn't in snuggle mode, she loves laser toys, and string toys to chase! Brittany can't wait to find a home to call her very own! All pets adopted from the Humane Society of Freeborn County will be spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, testing and will be microchipped. All of this is included in their adoption fee.
