Story
***The first step in the adoption process is to complete the adoption application at www.emmetcountyanimalshelter.org    Louise came in with her sister Thelma back in September 2021. She's the strong protector of the two, not trusting people right away. Through time, patience, & love in foster care, she's really come out of her shell. She's not the most exuberant of the foster kitties in the home, & she's not one to want to be held a lot but she'll let you know when she does want a good cuddle session & she will soak up every second of your love & cuddles- she's a very good kitty. She'd definitely be happier in a home with less cats (there's 8 in her foster home) & she occasionally bullies the more timid girls but she would love to go with Thelma, who has an opposite personality. Louise is up to date on shots & is spayed. All cat & kitten adoption fees are a free will donation to approved applicants February 23, 2024, 11:56 am

Story
***The first step in the adoption process is to complete the adoption application at www.emmetcountyanimalshelter.org*** It was a cold night on December 24th 2021 when we got a call about a very sick, emaciated cat that just looked like he had lost all hope.  He was sitting in the road and no one was around.  The girls that saw him knew they couldn't just leave him but no one in the area was answering their call and it was late on Christmas Eve.  That's when they thought to try us.  One of the girls used to volunteer at the ECAS and she had a good feeling she could reach the director directly to ask what to do with this poor creature they now had wrapped up in an old sweatshirt in the car with the heat on high.  It was late, it was the holiday and they were at least a couple of hours away but we got a cubbie ready with a heating pad and we said we would wait until they arrived.  We knew right away that he had to have been someone's sweet boy at one point and how he ended up out in the night alone we would never know but we knew he had been on his own trying to figure life out for quite some time.  He was fur over bones, had a snotty nose and runny eyes from a persistent upper respiratory infection and even though it was past the season we expect to see ringworm he was covered in it!  Most likely because his immune system was just so tired from fighting.  While we started taking care of what ailed him and giving him some much needed food and subQ fluids he started to show his appreciation by purring and making happy feet on the soft blanket.  We knew it was going to be a long hall for this old dude but once you are through our doors you are in our hearts and we won't give up!  Welcome Lazaraus!  You are a sweet boy with your grumpy old man face and chronically sneezy nose but we love you anyway.  Lazarus is neutered, up to date on vaccinations and microchipped.  He does need meds periodically as his sniffles flare up and he sometimes looks better and sometimes worse but he is a gentle guy with an appreciative heart! As always our adoption fees for cats/kittens is free will to approved applicants. February 23, 2024, 11:56 am

Story
***The first step in the adoption process is to go to www.emmetcountyanimalshelter.org to complete the Adoption Application***   Hi!  My name is Sir Nala!  Yeah I know...kinda funny but most of the people at the shelter just call me Sir which I kind of like.  Its distinguished you know being called Sir sort of like famous people that go by their first name like Madonna, Prince or Pink!  So, here's the deal, my little sister and I (she looks just like me so no denying that she's related!) came to the shelter when we were teenagers.  My sis did a much better job of adjusting to the way things are around here including all of the other cats but I just cannot seem to fit in.  I would love a home though...very, very much actually, where it was just me or maybe my sister cuz she's not too bad really.  She loves dogs too by the way and the volunteers said they would also introduce me and see what I think....I'll get back to you on that part!  However, what I do love is FOOD!!!!!  And I absolutely love to play with toys too!  In fact, most of the volunteers say I'm really more dog like than a cat really.  Hey, maybe that's why I don't fit in...maybe I'm really a dog caught in a Cat body!!!!!  Anyway, I digress... I, Sir, would love a home with no other cats except maybe my sister, possibly a dog and some one that would like to play with me.  So a home with children would be kinda cool as I imagine they would like a friend that would like to play?  We are both altered, up to date on vaccinations and micro-chipped.  If you need a chubby friend with a big personality then pop over to that website listed at the top of the my bio and shoot the ECAS your application.  Oh I almost forgot....I'm really vocal!  I have lots to say and I would love it if someone would like to have a conversation with me about you know...stuff!  February 23, 2024, 11:56 am

Story
***The first step in the adoption process is to complete the adoption application at www.emmetcountyanimalshelter.org*** Wally....weird, goofy little Wally!  This little chublet was found in the Walmart parking lot in bad shape.  We don't know what happened to her but we gladly took her in and fixed her up.  One would think she might be a tad bit more appreciative of our efforts but alas she is not!  This isn't to say she doesn't like us but she would really prefer if we just left her alone to do her cat stuff and play with the other cats.  While Wally isn't terribly fond of us hoomans she really really has fun playing with the other frisky kitties that can match her play style.  Wally loves toys! She will entertain her self for hours chasing a jingle ball or a fuzzy mouse around the room while the others nap.  She really has fun when Fiona, Duke or Onyx wake up and have some energy to join in on her fun!  If you are looking for a companion to just be in the same space as  you or perhaps a kitty friend to another frisky feline, Wally might just be the perfect fit!  Wally was born approximately September of 2022 and she is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, FeLV/FIV negative and microchipped. As always our cat/kitten adoption fees are free will to approved applicants. February 23, 2024, 11:56 am

Story
***The first step in the adoption process is to complete the adoption application at www.emmetcountyanimalshelter.org*** This large and in charge gal is Tuffy!  When we got her in we all were in shock as to how big of cat she was and knew she needed to slim down a bit.  While she has lost a little weight, sadly Tuffy's favorite thing isn't exercise but lounging (but who are we to judge right???). Tuffy also likes to act well....tough!  But she's really not!  We wouldn't put her with small children that can't read cat body language but trust us she tells you in no uncertain terms and with advance notice when she wants you to stop petting her.  She does however love to have her butt spanked!  Again...no judgement here!!!!  While you pet her butt, she makes these little chirps and licks the air....who knows (insert shoulder shrug).  She is front paw declawed, spayed,  FeLV/FIV negative and microchipped and a 2013 model so she has mileage left but she's well broken in too.  If you are a lover of the calico-tude and think this largess super model of a cat might be just what you need to add a little humor and companionship to your days then send in that application!  As always, our adoption fees are free will to approved applicants. February 23, 2024, 11:56 am

Story
***The first step in the adoption process is to complete the application at www.emmetcountyanimalshelter.org*** Leah is a gorgeous Classic Tabby girl.  Just check out those distinct swirl patterns in her soft fur. While Leah is shy, she is sweet and would do better in a home setting with out the commotion of the shelter.  Her sister Lizzy is more outgoing but super chill and both girls are very laid back.   Born March of 2021 these girls are still looking for a home to call their own.  Both of the girls would appreciate a calm house that is quiet and they can enjoy their days checking out sunny spots on the floor waiting for someone to come home.  Both of the girls are on the bigger side considering they are females.  They have been spayed, up to date on vaccinations and microchipped. As always our adoption fee for cats and kitten is free will to approved applicants. February 23, 2024, 11:56 am
