Story
Meet Luna! Luna is an approximately 4 and a half year old domestic short haired gray and white cat. Luna is a special cat who has been through a lot in her life so far. She was found outside on the brink of death when she was rescued by some kind people and brought to the shelter. It has been a long recovery process for her, made even more difficult by the fact that she is an FIV positive cat. (Please read more about feline FIV below) She has been at the Humane Society for quite some time. Luna is a quiet and timid soul and may take a little while to come out of her shell. She wants to be loved and accepted like all animals do and will need a patient and understanding individual or family to allow her to grow and adapt to her new home. Luna would do best in a quiet and calm home. She would be fine as your one and only or would also be OK with one or two other quiet, non-aggressive and non-dominant cats. No dogs please. FIV is short for feline immunodeficiency virus, and it is one of the most common infectious diseases of cats globally. Researchers estimate that up to 5% of the feline population will show evidence of exposure. While FIV is similar to HIV in humans, it cannot be transmitted from cats to humans. Cats are more likely to become infected after being bitten (as the saliva allows the virus to enter the body through the open bite wound). Once a cat has been diagnosed with FIV, management becomes monitoring for secondary infections and treating them quickly when they do occur. Finding ways to reduce stress, like making environmental changes or using feline specific CBD products, can help keep their immune system strong so they can more effectively fight off infection. Cats can remain asymptomatic for years; some may never exhibit signs of exposure at all and live completely normal, happy lives. If you are interested in giving Luna the life she deserves, please fill out our online application or stop in during open hours Wednesday 6-8pm or Saturday from 12-3pm. https://www.lakeshorehumanesociety.org/online-adoption-form

Story
DOB: 05/04/2022 Hi there, Clover here! I'm a petite 10-month-old female brown tabby cat. I was part of a group of cats that was living outside the Dunkirk VFW where some kind humans were taking care of us. I'm cute and small and like to curl up into a little ball most of the time. I'm still getting my bearings with indoor life and I'm still learning to trust humans. Right now I prefer a gentle touch, and need people to have patience with me while I gain confidence. I enjoy hanging out with my buddy Jiffy who I arrived with, and I've shown interest in playing! I just need to find a home where I can have the space and time to feel comfortable. If you are interested in giving me the life I deserve, please fill out our online application or stop in during open hours Wednesday 6-8pm or Saturday from 12-3pm. https://www.lakeshorehumanesociety.org/online-adoption-form

Story
DOB: 04/18/2022 Hi, Bramble here. I’m still looking for my furever home. I am a stunning 2 year old black and brown tabby mix, neutered, and up to date on all my shots. I can be a very sweet, loving, and loyal companion, but if you directly overstimulate me, I can bite and attack you, so we need to be able to understand each other and you need to understand that I am not a typical cat. I like being around people, but unfortunately at my foster dads, I have to be alone much of the time because I will attack the other cats in the house and although it is quite fun and stimulating for me, I guess it’s not fair and a bit scary and tense for them. My foster dad takes very good care of me and I think I live a pretty good life, but I’d love to be in a house where I can be around people more often because I am very sociable and I like company. I like to play and have lots of toys, and I need a lot of room to run and play and explore and release my energy. My ideal adopter will: a). Be very experienced and understanding of cat behavior b) Have no younger children in the house. c) Have no other cats in the household. You and I need to be able to understand each other. I can bite and attack, so there are no exceptions to the above conditions. My foster dad has promised me that I always have a home with him, so if you decide that I am too much for you and you can’t handle me you can always bring me back. I don’t want to be an ‘experiment’ though. My foster dad and I really would like a serious adopter willing to take the time to work with me and understand me. If you would like to meet me, please call my foster dad, Steve at 716-785-2764 and leave a message and we can arrange to meet. Story
Say hello to Andy! Andy is a year and 3 month old black male. Andy was very scared of people and his new surroundings when he first arrived with us. He is relaxing and warming up a bit but will need a patient adopter to work with him as he comes out of his shell. He lives with other cats at the shelter and tolerates them well. He would do well as your one and only, or with one or two other calmer playful cats. If you are interested in giving Andy the life he deserves, please fill out our online application or stop in during open hours Wednesday 6-8pm or Saturday from 12-3pm. https://www.lakeshorehumanesociety.org/online-adoption-form
